Gutted that Kathleen Edwards didn't make the top 50, go check her out guys! Also if you're in Ottawa go check out Quitters, I loved her coffee shop! Got the travel mug to prove it. So jealous! I've been wanting to go there since it opened! I met her once. About ten years ago. She signed my Failer CD and got a picture with her. She's the greatest! I got to meet her here in Montreal when she was touring for "Asking For Flowers". I know they say from time to time she'll be in the coffee shop so I was hoping she'd be there when I went lol. I went to check out the directions for quitters out of curiosity and it's like a 45 minute drive for me ![](http://images.proboards.com/tongue.gif) (then again I barely live in the official ottawa boundaries at this point so ![](http://images.proboards.com/tongue.gif) ) I went there when I went to Ottawa for Chris Stapleton earlier this year, we arrived about 3 hours early and it was like 10 minutes from the show so we went check it out. I loved the aesthetic in there and vibe. Plus the barista was so handsome lol

Srsly, y'all, check out MF's discography if you haven't. Especially "Bang Bang" and "It Kills Me"; those songs are amazing. ![](http://i.imgur.com/2smy76v.gif)

39. Chantal Kreviazuk
Total Points: 235
Number of lists: 7
Average Rank: 17.4
Median: 16
Years Active: 1996-present
Biggest album: Colour Moving And Still (1999)
Biggest hit single: Before You (1999)
Province: Manitoba en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chantal_Kreviazuk
Chantal Kreviazuk appears on the fewest lists on the rankdown, with just 7 who included her. (She’s in a tie with another artist, coming a little later).
Individual Rankings:
Devil Marlena Nylund - #4 @quirkyfarang - #10 Leaf - #12 Sambalada - #16 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 - #16 aerodynamite - #27 someguy - #37
Daryl the Beryl - n/c Unhinged - n/c .indulgecountry - n/c @jamesflame - n/c janinho - n/c Leo ✔ - n/c born - n/c matteeeb - n/c Kanenrá:ke - n/c Juanca - n/c jtd Thee Stallion - n/c Ky - n/c Pipa - n/c Red - n/c Butterflies & Hurricanes - n/c Mirago - n/c trebor - n/c
Outside of her own albums, Chantal has also contributed many songs to soundtracks, particularly earlier in her career. Songs of hers have been on the soundtracks for Dawson’s Creek, Stuart Little 2, Providence (she recorded a cover of The Beatles’ In My Life as the theme), Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Uptown Girls, and Armageddon, where her cover of Leaving On A Jet Plane was a huge hit in Canada, possibly riveling Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.
Chantal’s first appearance on Saturday Night Live was in November 2014 where she played piano and sang the hook on Pray For It by Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar.
Chantal has co-written songs for many artists including half of Under My Skin by Avril Lavigne, contributed to Rich Girl by Gwen Stefani, Walk Away by Kelly Clarkson, the chorus of Feel This Moment by Pitbull (she almost sang the hook too until Christina realized she was going to lose out on it). She’s also co-written songs recorded by Britney Spears, Shakira, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore, and performs the hook on Drake’s Over My Dead Body.
Chantal has been married to Raine Maida, lead singer of Our Lady Peace since 1999. They have 3 sons.

I revisited Surrounded after sending my rankings and forgot how great it is. I'm playing her album Colour Moving and Still for the first time in ages. When I got it, I listened to it SO much! Brings back so many memories - not always good ones but it's nostalgic nonetheless.

I should've included Chantal K, she's great! I'd love to do a Chantal rankdown... but I doubt there'd be enough people here at least familiar enough with all of her singles.

Deborah Cox was initially on my shortlist, but when I had to trim the artists down to only 50, the fact that the video was not even available to view on Youtube (for me) did not sit well with me at all. Ridiculous.
The Rainbow Butt Monkeys CD is superb! I remember before Amazon became Amazon I had to beg / politely ask my Canadian friend to get me a copy in Canada - great CD! Was expecting to see F11 fare a little better, if I am honest.
Sad to see Chantal leave so early, she's a very underrated artist. Would happily participate if she had a rankdown....

36. Loverboy
Total Points: 243
Number of lists: 8
Average Rank: 20.6
Median: 17
Years Active: 1979-present
Biggest album: Get Lucky (1981)
Biggest hit single: Lovin’ Every Minute Of It (1985)
Province: Alberta en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loverboy
Individual Rankings:
trebor - #3 Butterflies & Hurricanes - #11 Unhinged - #15 Juanca - #16 Mirago - #17 Pipa - #22 @jamesflame - #36 Red - #45
aerodynamite - n/c Daryl the Beryl - n/c 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 - n/c Sambalada - n/c .indulgecountry - n/c janinho - n/c Leo ✔ - n/c born - n/c matteeeb - n/c Kanenrá:ke - n/c jtd Thee Stallion - n/c Ky - n/c Leaf - n/c @quirkyfarang - n/c someguy - n/c Devil Marlena Nylund - n/c
Loverboy have released five albums since the 80s, including two so far this decade. As a Canadian, I’m surprised.
In 1981, Loverboy won 6 Juno Awards, the most for one act ever in a single year and a record that still stands today.
Lead singer Mike Reno recorded Almost Paradise with Nancy Wilson of Heart in 1984. The song was the Love Theme from Footloose and hit #7 on the Hot 100.
The only FM radio station I could listen to from my house growing up played Working For The Weekend every Friday at 5pm to kick off the weekend. It was a weekly tradition. I miss 90s FM radio.

Next up, the highest ranking artist to appear in the fewest Top 25s of the lists they were on. (does this make sense?)

35. Joni Mitchell
Total Points: 247
Number of lists: 12
Average Rank: 30.4
Median: 35
Years Active: 1979-2007
Biggest album: Court And Spark (1974)
Biggest hit single: Help Me (1974)
Province: Alberta en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joni_Mitchell
Despite appearing on 12 lists, which so far ties Kiesza for the most, Joni Mitchell also ties Kiesza, Walk Off The Earth and Fefe Dobson by having the fewest appearances in the Top 25 of the lists she appeared on. 3 people ranked her within their Top 25.
Individual Rankings:
Mirago - #5 Red - #8 trebor - #15 Sambalada - #28 someguy - #28 Unhinged - #34 Juanca - #35 Butterflies & Hurricanes - #40 aerodynamite - #41 .indulgecountry - #43 Kanenrá:ke - #44 Ky - #44
Daryl the Beryl - n/c 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 - n/c @jamesflame - n/c janinho - n/c Leo ✔ - n/c born - n/c matteeeb - n/c jtd Thee Stallion - n/c Leaf - n/c Pipa - n/c @quirkyfarang - n/c Devil Marlena Nylund - n/c
Joni Mitchell is not only considered one of the best Canadian songwriters of all time, she’s also considered one of the greatest songwriters period. Rolling Stone ranked her 9th Best Songwriter of all time, 42nd Greatest Singer and named Blue the 30th greatest record of all time.
As is usual for the Grammys, most of her wins came in the 90s and later. She won her first Grammy in 1969 and second in 1974, then nothing until 1995 when she received two. She now has 8.
The Grammy winner for Album of the Year in 2008 was Herbie Hancock’s tribute album to Joni titled River: The Joni Letters.
