Tove Lo - Stay High (feat. Hippie Sabotage) (Habits Remix)
I was introduced to the remix of "Habits" before the original. I had seen it was mysteriously lingering in the nether regions of the iTunes chart for a few weeks and decided to check it out. I was instantly hooked. The track was a hit with me, peaking at #9 on my personal chart. It was only a few months after I discovered the remix that the original started to also become a hit in the US, and I loved it too, taking it to #6 on my personal chart, however, the remix had a longer chart life. There is a special place in my heart for the remix since it was my introduction to the song instead of the original, and maybe you can find a special place in your heart as well when you go to rank it in The Au$tin Shuffle Rankdown!

This is also a good time to mention that for this rankdown, you will be ranking the version of the song posted and not another version. Given the context of how these songs are appearing, I feel this is the appropriate way to rank them. Using another version would taint the results, IMO, especially since I could have multiple versions of a song in my library (as I do with Habits) and it could have been any version that popped up, but the one posted is specifically to be used in this rankdown.

Time for song #5 Brandyn Burnette - Down I discovered "Down" through Spotify's Discovery Weekly last summer. It's one of the few songs that I've discovered through Spotify that went on to be a big hit with me personally, peaking at #6 on my personal chart. The song has a dark feeling to it that it just so infectious, and I love it. The production on it is pure fire. Unfortunately, like most of the songs I discover through Spotify Weekly, it has done next to nothing due to lack of promo or really lack of support from a label. Hopefully this song doesn't make you feel too down when ranking it in The Au$tin Shuffle Rankdown. Incoming song #6 Karmin - Puppet "Puppet" is a track on Karmin's first LP, Pulses. I don't consider myself a huge Karmin fan, but I do follow them and own an EP and two LPs of theirs, Pulses being one of them. While the album definitely isn't amazing, it's consistent in bringing some fun bops and jams, with a few of them even being spectacular (see: "I Want It All" or "Drifter"). "Puppet" isn't one of my top picks from the album, but I still enjoy it. Hopefully you won't fall victim to the puppet master when ranking this song in The Au$tin Shuffle Rankdown. #7 has arrived! Kanye West - Love Lockdown Anyone who knows me knows I am far from a Kanye West fan. I find him and his music pretentious, and I think his music is highly overrated and inconsistent. However, I absolutely love this track. I honestly don't recall how I discovered "Love Lockdown," but for some reason I believe I heard it first after "Heartless." Anyway, this is easily Kanye's best song to me, so I'm glad to see it in the rankdown. It's time for #8. Michael Jackson - Billie Jean I feel like I don't need to talk much about this one. It's an iconic song from a legendary artist. How did I discover it? I don't know, it came out before I was born, so... I've known it for literally as long as I can remember. Though, when I was a kid, I do remember mishearing the lyrics as "But Janet's not my son" instead of "The kid is not my son."
