Taylor Swift - Reputation: (ignore my previous dumb post hahaha) 1. Look What You Made Me Do Promo singles: Ready For It? / Call It What You Want 2. Delicate 3. Don't Blame Me 4. Getaway Car 5. I Did Something Bad ft. Cardi B In this scenario End Game doesn't even make the album thx bye. Not singling your opinion out but I think so long as Ready For It was released as a promotional single immediately after Look... radio would have picked it up botching everything. I don't know if anything could have prevented that disaster.

TLOP 1. Fade 2. Ultralight Beam 3. Real Friends Starboy 1. Starboy 2. False Alarm (as an actual single) 3. Party Monster 4. Sidewalks (since having a Kendrick feature seems to guarantee a hit, and because the song's really good) Nothing against IFIC, but releasing a similar song to Starboy right away wasn't a great idea. Divide 1. Anything but Shape Of You. Maybe Perfect 2. Castle On The Hill 3. Galway Girl Ultralight beam definitely should have been a single

My one year later update..
Reputation
1. Look What You Made Me Do (as much as I hate to say it, this song needed to happen) 2. ...Ready For It? 3. Delicate 4. End Game 5. Don't Blame Me
I don't think any of the singles released were "bad" single choices tbh. Timing was just way off.

Twenty One Pilots - Trench:
1. The Hype 2. Chlorine 3. Neon Gravestones 4. My Blood/Nico and the Niners
have a lot of respect for them releasing something as abrasive as Jumpsuit first, but it totally killed their pop momentum.

Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty era:
1. Cry Pretty (released on November 9, 2018 in time for the CMA Awards on the 14th) 2. Southbound (released on April 5, 2019 along with the album itself. Yes, the album itself. Carrie was 7 months pregnant in November 2018 and to have maternity leave the album would have to wait till April 5. Also, the 4/5 release would have been perfect for the ACMs just two days later.) 3. Drinking Alone 4. End Up With You 5. Low 6. Ghosts On The Stereo/Backsliding (GOTS to country and Backsliding to pop/AC)
5 deep is a stretch with her, let alone 6 deep but these 6 songs definitely deserve time in the spotlight imo. (well except for Southbound but even that grew on me so)

Taylor Swift - Lover
1st Single (late April): "Paper Rings" (Same themes as "ME!", different sound from the rest of the album, but without the childish lyrics that were a turn-off for some people. Also remember that whatever Taylor released as a lead single would have a respectable performance from hype alone, so the 90s sitcom throwback style is a risk worth taking. Bonus points if Brendon Urie features in it)
2nd Single (mid-June): "The Man" (an introduction to Taylor Swift's political stance that comes across as genuine - not that YNTCD didn't, but its execution was clumsy - the modern production would give it longevity in the charts, while a powerful music video would give the necessary boost for a high peak)
3rd Single (August, before the album release): "Cruel Summer" (there's some expectation to Taylor's upcoming track after the issue with her masters, but instead of releasing a direct attack like "The Man", the misleadingly titled "Cruel Summer" is just your classic Taylor pop track with an infectiously catchy chorus and a killer bridge. It fits perfectly with the current mainstream music landscape and it's a guaranteed hit)
4th Single (late October or early November): "Lover" (a self-written romantic ballad that ought to be promoted during the winter season - and no remix with any other artist. It might not become a hit as huge as Ed Sheeran's "Perfect", but it would have better longevity in the top 20 and, just like in our current scenario, would earn her the critical acclaim she deserves)
5th Single (late February or early March): "Death By A Thousand Cuts", "Cornelia Street", or "Afterglow" (they all have that 'beginning of the year' feel to them, so whichever chosen would have been a great choice)
Promotional single: either "The Archer" or "False God", to show a different side from her and increase the hype for the album even further.

Sabrina Carpenter - Singular Act I (2018)
1st single: Sue Me - Although Almost Love is a decent choice for a lead single, it was a little underwhelming in hindsight. Not to mention that despite being sent to radio, the song did nothing on streaming or sales. However, Sue Me (which was eventually serviced as the album's second radio single) managed to become something of a streaming hit. If it were to received the same promotion as Almost Love, it could have been a bigger hit and might've managed to chart or at least bubble under. [June or July 2018]
2nd single: Paris - I can't believe that this remained a promotional single, despite being one of the best songs of 2018. Even though this wouldn't have done much on Pop, I could see it catching on at HAC or AC, maybe even both. It sounds similar to what Ariana Grande did that same year with Sweetener, but with less mainstream accessibility. Even with that in mind, this is a song that many could bop their ass to so who cares? Plus, the music video is super sexy and just very aesthetically pleasing. [October or November 2018]
3rd single: Mona Lisa - I don't have much to say about this one, other than this was a huge missed opportunity. It's a total crowd-pleaser and could easily end up as a decent hit, at least for the standards of Hollywood Records artists. [February to March 2019]
Promo singles: Almost Love and Diamonds Are Forever
Note: Why and Alien would be included on the standard version of the album, for added SPS.

bumping this thread because i feel like the single choices from twelve carat toothache should've been a no brainer and yet they managed to bungle it
1. i like you (a happier song) / i cannot be (a sadder song) dual release these suckers and give the pop radio push to whichever one streams better (probably i like you). when i say the rollout should've been a no brainer i'm mainly talking abt not releasing one of those first, although i like the idea of releasing them simultaneously since a lot of people have been getting mileage out of dual releases and they have the matching names as a cute gimmick to get people to click
(promo) insane release the trappiest thing off the album a few weeks later to show people that post hasn't gone *completely* pop
2. one right now release and push this 3-4 months post the happier / sadder songs and a couple months before the album itself. if it does well on streaming push it as the next single -- if it doesn't and there's one of the already released singles that hasn't been pushed yet and it still streaming well, push that instead. preferably this would also be during a time when the weeknd is a little less overexposed
3. wrapped around my finger the album week single unless there's another track people seem to be gravitating towards more
3.5. assuming wrapped around my finger isn't doing much there, send cooped up to rhythmic / urban. may as well also send lemon tree to alt as well, it's the best song on the album by a country mile
