"Get Down South" is a mixed bag for me. I love the chorus! But that verse... whew. It's not good lol
Up next, someone loses their #2! However, someone also loses their #34...

"Headlights" is a jam!! I knew it'd do poorly and it can't compete with my top 10, but it's still an edgy rocker with a killer melody. I get that the verse sounds a little 'bro-ish' but to me this is still clearly a modern country/rock song and is unmistakably MG.
Next up, two more top 10's are lost, as is another #34.
My plan tonight is to reveal through 26, and we'll start the top 25 tomorrow.

I'm probably biased towards the song though since the first time I ever heard it was live and MG concerts were an absolute thrill ride.

This not making the Top 20 is a sign of the upcoming apocalypse. Really?!?!?

Aw hell naw let's not confuse modern country/rock with bro-country, please and thanks. The two are not one in the same. Bro-country is just a wall of overproduced noisy mess. MG, once again, stayed true to their rocker roots with "Headlights" and did so in a way that the song still sounded fresh and modern, without succumbing to the bro-country invasion. The verse of this song had bro-like elements but the chorus and instrumentation shot that s**t down. Of course, no two people can seem to agree on what bro-country is and what it is not lol so to many, this probably is bro-country through and through. To me though, it isn't.

UP NEXT! 3 people lose top 10's, and I'm one of them. This song got done SO DIRTY which I was lowkey expecting but I'm still not happy about it, and I certainly don't know what the heck is wrong with it so some of y'all have some explaining to do!

lmao and listening to "Headlights" again it's literally just how Eddie says 'chillin' that sounds bro to me I guess one could make an argument about the lyrics being bro, but let's not pretend that lyrically songs like this didn't exist in country before bro became a thing lol.

Not surprised to see "Get Down South" out this early. It's not a bad song at all, but it definitely doesn't hold a candle to their best. "Headlights" is one that I am not at all surprised to see leave, but I also agree that it is a jam! I disliked it when it was on radio, but I have found myself jamming out to it more and more every time I have heard it through the years. The chorus is so anthemic and I love it "You Do Your Thing" is a pleasant surprise to see leaving now... That song rubs me the wrong way. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just always get sketched out when I hear it. Watching a 40-something-year-old attack a teenager with a baseball bat in the music video sure doesn't help anything either.

I love "You Do Your Thing" but it wasn't always that way lol. It took me a little while to warm up to it when it was first released. It is a great song though and I do wish it could have made it higher on here. That said, there's something about the melody that prevented me from even considering ranking it any higher than I did. Also, I have to say, my favorite part of the music video is when Troy went after the drug dealer with a bat lol, it's so awesome!
"Didn't I" has always been one of my favorites. It's so hauntingly beautiful and Eddie's vocals ARE TO DIE FOR ON IT!!! Love the harmony in the song and the melody really works for me too, because of the vocals being so spot on it really makes me feel the song lyrically too. Troy and Eddie NAILED it with this one. So sad to see this SO low! And how on Earth this is someone's last place is like, whaaaatt?? Especially when you have "Jack In My Coke" lol.

I think this rankdown already is further illustrating how solid MG's body of work is. I really, really like "Didn't I" and I ranked it really, really low. They just have too many good songs.

For the last reveal of the night, we have a song that I don't like lol. It's one of the very few in this RD that I don't care for.
Two more top 10's are lost, as well as another #34.

Yeah, I listened to "I'll Keep The Kids" a couple more times tonight as I was writing up the reveal and I still don't care for it lol. I don't like the melody, the lyrics don't grab me, and I don't think it's one of Eddie's best vocal performances. Glad it's out now, but it's such a shame that it beat "Didn't I"
Anyway, that's it for tonight! Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow night to get us to the top 20.

absolutely appalled at those that ranked "Didn't I" low. That song is incredible, and Eddie nailed the vocals. The fact that "I'll Keep The Kids" is higher should be a crime. Love that song
