Based on its continued run as the most popular holiday tune year in and year out, a top 10 peak for AIWFCIY indeed is deserving. That's one less classic tune that won't require discussion/clarification of why it didn't reach the top 10, or another chart range, despite its classic status. I'm not sure what the trend is, though, for this coming third week on the chart- the gain may not be as large as it's been the last couple of weeks. Streaming, though, is leading the way by far. These are the AIWFCIY stats, per Billboard: Sales: 19-13, 21,000 (+33%) Airplay: 47-42, 27 million (+4%) Streaming: 16-7, 24.2 million (+47%) I would assume all 3 metrics would increase, since she was in the top 10 of Itunes over the weekend and airplay should increase as we move closer. Really, sales is the one to watch, as sales seem lower during the week compared to the weekend. It was top 10 on iTunes and Spotify last weekend, too. It does better on the weekends in general.

So, it's more about how much "What Lovers Do" and "Bodak Yellow" fall. And how high #12 and #13 move.

I hope AIWFCIY finally makes it. It would be Mariah's first top ten for this decade, and 28th total (not counting "Forever", which reached #9 on the airplay chart in 1996 but never charted on the Hot 100 due to the lack of a commercial single).

Why are people so surprised that a song that isn't even top 35 on any streaming service beside YouTube (in addition to seeing next to no points from radio and sales) isn't in the Hot 100 top ten?

What are the chances that AIWFCIY hits top 10 by Christmas week?
I really hope it doesn't get stuck at #11.

The first #1 duet this decade..? The Monster, Closer, Timber..? If Empire State of Mind counts as a duet, I don't see why those aren't Well, Chainsmokers are already a duo, so adding Halsey makes that a group and not a duet. Still, if "ESOM" counts then, yes, the other pairings you mention should as well. I guess they are going by how it's credited though? As in, maybe those were "featuring" instead of "&." Doesn’t Only one of the chainsmokers provide vocals?

The song is credited as Chainsmokers f/ Halsey.

I'd say Billboard needs to give Youtube an ultimatum: sort out your own data and clear up this mess or we won't count you on our formulas at all. That should be more than enough for Youtube to look into the issue. Undermine their own credibility and punish everybody who follows the charts? No thanks. They could actually be smart about it and estimate things using past trends. For example, find the average YouTube view to radio impession/sales/streaming of every song that charts. Then apply that average ratio to songs that have fake YouTube views. That's a lot better than just lazily pretending that the vids have zero views. And it's WAY better than pretending that YouTube doesn't exist altogether. That's still lowballing it because any song that has fake YouTube views is probably going to be YouTube heavy anyways. "That should be more than enough for Youtube to look into the issue." No it doesn't. YouTube doesn't care. They barely care. They have way bigger things to worry about.

Fake views from who, the song's label or random fans? Not really a "label". More like a "social media agency". They build hype and promote artists that already have a following online. So yeah, it is basically like a label. But it's technically not a label because they don't produce music. They just market.

Simm calculated that it would be #7 if the YouTube views were counted. So that's a pretty big discrepancy.

So, will Beyonce lost her duet credit next chart? I have the same question. The original will probably outsell the duet by close to a 2:1 margin. Do the risk getting the Beyhive mad? Even though technically it would be the right thing to do?

I'm so surprised at a Kendrick Lamar single being higher in airplay than in other metrics.

Praise the lord, Gummo "only" made it to 13. Man whenever I think about it, it saddens me that songs like Praying cant even Crack top 20 but actual trash can crack top 15 so easily Funny how just one song can turn this place into an unpleasant parade of people wallowing in their own unpopular opinions. Let's be honest here: Gummo peaks that high because it's something that people actually want to listen to. People are actually googling a song by somebody who was previously completely unknown so that they can listen to it on purpose. Not because there's some meme attached to it. Sorry that there's not some obscure "challenge" for you people to try and discredit every instance of success from a non-whitebread artist. I don't like to be negative here, but if anything is trash here it's the radio song from the former a-list celebrity that much of her original fanbase rejected because of it, frankly, being lifeless garbage. People loved Ke$ha from 2009-2013. Not because of bottom of the barrel trash like "Praying". Not because of crap that's peddled to soccer moms and radio stations who thrive off being inoffensive enough for office buildings. As radio's power decreases, artists are going to have to put actual effort into making their music stand out in positive ways. Not just catering to the lowest common denominator and blending in with WGWG easy listening.
