81. 18 City Calm Down - Your Fix (15 for 2 weeks) (2017) 15-15-21-off
Next comes a song that I loved so much, that I crossed it over from one year to another, before I finally found a home for it at the #15 slot. It has a strong 80's New Wave vibe with some captivating vocalworks, but it's those guitar works that won my heart. I also remember entering this song in one of our own indie rock tournaments. I recall it did fairly well among the pulse rock crowd. Unfortunately I haven't found any other ,of their songs ,quite as interesting as this one, but I'll keep my ear out, in case they release any new material.

Glad to see the support for all these songs. The ghost of Xmas tragedy visited my home this year, so I'm probably staying home for New Year's eve. AT which time I will be posting these live all evening. Sort of like when radio stations do their top 100 of the year. I'll try to get a few more up tonight tho.

80. 19 White Widdow - Surrender You Heart (15) 50-47-45-43-41-39-42-39-41-37-33-26-25-22-20-18-15-24-38-off
We start off #80 with another AOR band bringing on the current rebirth of Melodic Metal. White Widdow derive their name from the "White Rock" bands of the 80's. Their style is like White Lion, Whitesnake, Winger, Y&T, and Warrant. This is their 3rd album on AOR Heaven label. This would be their 6th time charting a song on my top 50.

79. 23 Kaleo - Hot Blood (19) 44-40-36-33-31-30-29-29-32-37-37-35-32-30-27-26-24-22-21-21-19-24-off
We are to one of the first songs who surpass the 20 week chartrun. It's from a band that I had not really cared for until I heard this song, on another mambers weekly chart. I wonder if he even remembers charting it? the guitars in this is what I refer to as "fierce". Also for the first time, I heard what great vocals; JJ had. I think they should have released this song to Alt. I'm sure it would have been a bigger hit that, "All The Pretty Girls" snoozer.

78. 15 The Struts - One Night Only (13)* 49-45-42-41-39-38-36-32-31-27-22-21-18-15-13-
We are up to the followup material from last eyar's Glam rock sensations; The Struts. This song is still new to my charts, but I'm giving it a big push, because i think it's a superb followup to their previous single. It has that unmistaken style of Queen and a great music video to go along.

77. 11 Metallica - Now That We're Dead (2 weeks #15) 31-25-21-18-16-15-16-18-15-18-25-off
We are up to the First song from Metallica's latest album to crack my top 50. The song had already spent 7 weeks at #1 on my Metal Chart, so rather than sending it recurrent I brought it over to the top for another 11 weeks. Bringing it's total chart life to 18 weeks. "Hardwired... to Self-Destruct" is a great comeback album that I can safely recommend it to Metal Heads of all ages.

76. 16 Alice Merton - No Roots (11)* 50-45-40-36-32-29-27-24-22-21-18-17-16-13-12-11-
#76 comes the German Indiepop act, Alice Merton. They find themselves right outside my Top 10 with the infectious "No Roots". With 16 weeks already on the chart, this one is bound to surpass the 20 week run easily. The main thing that brought my attention to this song, besides, Alice's great vocals, was that fierce bass line that holds the songs melody together from start to finish. This song is also looking to be a big hit on the radio charts as well. Already #1 on AAA and top 5 on Alt. I'm already beginning to wonder what single number 2 will sound like?

75. 24 Nothing More - Go To War (15)* 50-46-42-40-38-40-37-38-37-35-33-32-34-35-32-29-26-25-24-24-20-17-16-15-
Here is a band that took a while before they would score their first big hit on my chart. They rock and have great vocals, but nothing really stood out for me, until "Mr.TV". Unsurprisingly that turns out to be pulses least favorite song from them, but with this new song, I think most of us are in agreement that it's a great song. At 24 weeks and at 315, this song is still going strong on my charts. Top 10 could be just around the corner?
We are back into some indiepop territory with the band King-No-One. This band also has a great 80's vibe to them visual as well as sound wise. Once you listen to this song, you will know exactly why it ends up as one of my top songs of 2017. favorite part? That humongous note he holds halfway through the song. Epic! wanna a preview of the new song I'm planning to chart from this band? www.youtube.com/watch?v=36nbrc3dWU4

73. 13 Steel Panther - Wasted Too Much Time feat. Stone Sour (12)* 34-23-21-17-17-19-18-12-15-17-16-21-31-
We are up to the Glamrock parody Metal band; Steel Panther. If you know anything about me, you knew this song would be in here. The style is 80's overboard Powerballad throwback, but you really gotta view the music video to get the full effect. You got Porn stars galore, booze, and Stone Sour lip syncing the lyrics and playing the part of an 80's glam metal band. It's a hoot. Now ,and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, some ASSHOLE, flagged the official video because of the T&A, but it's been uploaded again for your pleasure, so get it while it's hot. For sleeve art, I created two covers. One with the band and a b-side with Stone Sour.
Next we have a first time charting band fronted by Wrestling sensation Chris Jericho. It's also the first time, you'll be seeing this band on my year end list. At 12 weeks on my top 50, the song has already peaked. Metal has always had that effect on me. It sets the charts on fire, but soon after simmers down a bit. It will either stick around or drop off in the next few weeks, but I still think it s a great Metal song for all eras.

71. 21 CRX - Ways To Fake It (15) (2017) 30-29-29-28-29-27-24-25-21-20-17-15-20-off
We are to the latest song by The Cars.. Just kidding, but damn, if this song didn't remind me of their style so much. This is actually a side project from, Nick Valensi, who is best known for fronting The Strokes. This song was such a breath of fresh air on the alt charts, I immediately grabbed it and made it a big hit on my own charts.

70. 14 BLACKPINK - As If It's Your Last(K-POP) (8)* 50-48-44-40-30-23-20-17-15-13-12-11-9-8-
At #70 we are to one of the big heavy hitters of the K-Pop world. It's the all girl band; BLACKPINK and thier smash hit, "As If It's Your Last". This song follows the structure of most All Girl k-POp songs, and partly the reason I love the songs so much. You got a super upbeat chorus, but i nbetween One verse sang by one member, than a different verse by another member. Sometimes the verse changes melody too. next you got the one member doing her melodic rap line. It's not angry sounding like other rap, and doesn't scare me away. In fact I get more into the song. Then just before the last chorus, you usually get that slow "aishu" breakdown, last chorus and the big finish. It all sorta reminds me of a song you would find in a Broadway play. Anyway, this song and many more K-pop will be back next year.

69. 18 Digitalism - Go Time (3 weeks #14) 48-47-44-43-41-39-37-34-31-28-25-23-21-18-16-14-14-14-off
Here is a Indie synthpop song that I really started liking more and more each weak. It spent quite a while on my HOT LIST, before crashing the Top 50. This is one hell of a song. Has that 80's vibe I love and the style of guitars I like to hear on ALternative music. Unfortunately, I haven't come across any more songs like this on their catalog, so this might be a One Hit Wonder?
And just like that, we are up to another big K-Pop song on my chart. I still give heavy airplay to the 80's overboard sound of "I Feel You". This song brought on the Reggae vibe, and once again the girls worked hard to learn to play the song with their instruments. I admit that one of the reasons I love this band was because they play their own instruments. The fact that they are all smoking hot was even more of a turn on, but the hard fact is, that they are or were talented as f**k. I probably would have taken this to #1, had I known it was to be their last song?

67. 14 The Revivalists - Wish I Knew You (8) 29-20-13-11-13-13-13-11-12-10-8-9-13-25-off
This song has an interesting story, because I really didn't care for it untill when 80% of it's chart life was over. I never thought it was a bad song, I just thought it was kind of boring? The reason it peaked at #8 , was simply because my then, girl friend dedicated it to me, right before she went back to her home state. I guess it means something different for everyone, but to us, it simply met, that we wish we had met when we were younger. Anyway the song only spent, fourteen weeks on the chart, the bulk of those were high top 20 slots, so it comes in high at #67.

66. 14 Jimmy Eat World - Sure and Certain (11) (2017) 14-12-11-13-12-12-15-off
Another #11 peak song makes its way onto my top songs of the year. This time is comes from a well known Powerpunk/Alternative band of the early 2000s; Jimmy Eat World. This band has had quite a few top 10 hits on my charts. The biggest being " A Praise Chorus". I wonder how many here know that some of the lyrics of the song came from "Kickstart My Heart"? Anyway, this was their big comeback single of 2016 and crossed over to 2017. It's a shame no other song from that album caught on, but this one had the right guitar vibe, and I believe it was the proper single to get em back on the charts.

65. 15 The Pretty Reckless - Take Me Down (11 for 3 weeks) (2017) 11-11-15-18-off
The Pretty Reckless got, at least one song on my 2017 charts. This one crossed over from 2016, because I started charting it late. It's a great song, with great lyrics about selling your soul to rock n roll. That theme has been done a million times before, but it always sound good to me. I made so many sleeves for this song, that I forgot which one was the official one. I think this one catches the idea of the song. It lloks like she could be signing on that dotted line.

64. 17 Empire of The Sun - High and Low (9) (2017) 20-18-16-14-10-9-10-11-off
The indiepop band Empire Of The Sun are never far from my charts. "High and Low" was a big crossover to my 2017 charts and kept an upward climb, until it finally peaked at #9. This is also the lowest charting single they have scored on my charts. The biggest would be "Walking On A Dream" which I charted years before it made it's Alternative chart debut. "High and Low" was basically part two of that song, but it was still catchy enough.

63. 17 Fitz and The Tantrums - Walking Target (7)* 49-45-43-43-41-37-36-34-30-27-26-23-23-19-15-10-7-
We are to one of my favorite Indiepop bands of that last few years. This band has had multiple #1 songs on my charts. Two of those songs became the #1 songs in my year end lists. Now while they have lost a bit of that neo-soul vibe; they still have that upbeat sound that I can't resist. This album track I started charting has that exact vibe I can really get into. At already 17 weeks; it's finally cracked my weekly top 10, so I'm guessing this one and a few other album tracks I dig, will be back next year.
At #62, we have one of my favorite Rock bands, from the early 2000, that are still around. I can't even count how many times I have charted this band, not alone, how many times I've taken them to #1. From their hard rocking songs, to their sleaze rock songs, and right down to their power ballads, something about Chad's vocals, hits that right cord with me, every time. For me, it's impossible to imagine a rock world without these kind of fierce rock songs, so as long as they keep releasing, they will keep smashing on my year end charts every time.

61. 19 Capital Cities - Vowels (10) (2017) 22-22-20-19-18-17-14-12-10-12-16-28-42-off
At #61, we find one of my most catchiest songs of the year. It's from another Indiepop band ,that has found big success on my charts. "Safe and Sound", "Kangaroo Court" and "One Minuet More" are just the tip of the iceberg of the songs I've charted from this band. I've heard alot of complains about the lyrics to the chorus of this song, but to me they seem perfect. What else are you gonna sing about in a song called "Vowels". I don't think they were actually trying to cram every vowel into the chorus, but I do think they wanted a chorus that would be easy to sing along to. Again; this was not meant to be a thought provoking song. Just something you can hum along to in the shower while listening to the really cool Disco/dance vibe it has.

60. 17 Nickelback - Must Be Nice/ Song On Fire (10) 45-38-31-26-23-20-17-15-14-14-10-11-13-14-12-11-15-off
At #60, we got a Double A-side single from Nickelback. I only do this with very special bands. I used to do it with Hinder songs too, to get the most into my charts. A side would be Rock, and B-side would be A Powerballad. Both songs, show the incredible talent, Nickelback has ,and both went to #10, but also spent quite a few weeks in the high slots right under the top, thus getting a high #60 slot for 2017. "Must Be Nice" is a hard rocker with fierce guitars and lyrical play only Nickelback can make happen. "Song On Fire" was a bit more weak with the lyrics, but the great melody and Chad's always reliable vocals reassured this to a big top 10 hit, this year, as well. Actually, it was the combination of the power in both songs is what made this such a big hit on my weekly charts.
It's been a while since one of my indie discovery songs show up here. I remember first listening to "worry" on soundcloud and falling head over heals for that 80's synthpop sound. The first few drum beats in the intro was really what pulled me in. The rest of the song just got better and better as each second passed. This song spent a whomping 22 weeks on my weekly chart before it finally peaked at #13.

58. 16 MisterWives - Coloring Outside The Lines (5)* 43-38-35-30-28-25-23-21-21-20-16-14-11-9-7-5-
We are up to the super group; MisterWives once more. There is still one more mega hit we need to come across on this year's list, but this is their latest single. This one kept making a top 50 appearance on Alternative Mediabase, but never really broke the top 40. On this chart; It's a different story altogether for this infectious upbeat song on this chart. At the moment it's currently a top 5 hit and soon to go top 3. With 16 weeks on my top 50; "Coloring Outside The Lines" comes in high, just outside the top 50 of the year's biggest songs.

57. 23 Saint Motel - Destroyer (9) 50-45-39-37-36-35-36-35-33-31-30-27-25-24-22-20-19-19-17-14-12-10-9-off
Saint Motel score two big hits on my 2017 year end chart. This song ,in particular had a major "grow On" effect on me. It tool it's sweet time climbing up my chart, but it did finally reach to a #9 peak. It's catchy melody had a killer "bop" effect that just kept sounding better and better to me each week. This song; sadly also missed the mark on the actual Alternative charts, but found its true calling on my top 50.
