Let me just add; that if I didn't know any better, I would have thought this was Def Leppard with a new lead singer. The music style is so inspired by Def Leppard "Hysteria', that this record would have probably gone to #1 on the 1987 Pop charts as well. This was also a number 1 song on the weekly top 25 AOR/Melodic Rock countdown posted on youtube every week. After spending 2 big weeks at #3; Tokyo Motor Fist's first single ever snags a big slot on my year end coundtdown at #28.

"Give In To Me" was a big hit on my Metal chart and HOT LIST, but it was this album title track that put them on the map. It was only after; Alexa joined up as new lead singer that I started digging their sound. This particular song, has attitude, but from a woman's side of view. I'm usually the one receiving these kind of lines from woman, but I still love this song, because it shows ladies take no s**t from us guys. Anyway's with her powerful vocals and melodic hard rock song Letters From The Fire score big on my year end chart. I also put this one super high on the active rankdown we are doing next.Peak: 3Wks: 27

This band has all the right ingredients to pick off where led Zeppelin left off. The same vibe, the sound in their Instruments and even the song titles are very reminicant of Led Leppelin. The band consists of brothers, Jake, Sam and Josh, who adds incredible power on the lead vocals. Danny Wagner, on skins, is also obviously inspired by John Bonham. This band, as young as they are, have already scored a number 1 song on the Active charts. As the song says "so sweet, so fine, so nice" to have young talent on the charts with a perfect rock vibe.

I simulataneously discoverd this song on a member's chart and on my favorite Indie countdown on youtube, but it was on said member's chart that it made the real impact on my 80's heart. Lemon demon is notorious for producing those quirky novelty songs that were so popular in the 80's. Add a New Wave vibe and you have the kind of ,I remember being played on KROQ back in the day. KROQ sucks now , but this song doesn't. At 25 weeks on my top 50 and a #2 peak; "Touch-Tone Telephone" finishes off as one of the biggest songs of 2017.Peak: 2Wks: 25

Oh yeah, I'm bias to certain bands. Especially if the lead singer has amazing scream factor in his tones, like Myles Kennedy, does. "My Champion" is a song that took off rather quick to the top of my charts and spent most of its chart run in the top 10. It's from the Canadian indiepop band; Bravestation. This song has such a perfect 80's vibe that I also entered it on one of the Indie Tournaments here. it performed pretty decent too. #19 is those rockers who love a good powerballad. Pop Evil have been one of my favorite rock bands of the 2010's. I wasn't the biggest fan of the singles off the "up" era, but this song really won my heart. The kind of lyrics you could sing to your significant other and watch her heart melt. Trust me it works. This song also had an incredible chart run on my top 50. 29 weeks is one of the longest runs a song has had this year.

#18 brings us to this band's second song on my year end chart, and also the first #1 songs making an appearance. This song conquered my Metal heart the first time I heard it. Myles Kennedy has an incredible vocal range that was made for Rock n Roll. I quickly started charting this in late 2016, so it crosses over after having it's top 10 chart life take place in 2017. This song also has one of those must have aspects in a metal song for me. That's the guitar solo, and this one is as fierce as they can get

At #17 comes one my favorite female Metal songs of the year. September Mourning is about everything is of course, the most important, but every aspect of this band's presence is important. The band is also based on a concept of a human-grim reaper hybrid named September (Lazar), as she navigates the world of the living and the world of the dead, her human side possessing the empathy to give some human souls a second chance. The story is presented on different media platforms, including music, comic books, and live concerts. The comic books are published by Top Cow Productions Image Comics. I got that from wikipedia, but it one of the many reasons I love this band so much. In many ways they remind me of KISS. The two bands share great music, great vocals and an awesome stage appearance. September Mourning's first Active charting ,single , "Eye Of The Storm" also made my top songs list in 2016, but this year "20 Below" comes in super high not just because it a great song, but also because of its chart run which included moving up and down in my top from week to week. I was also ,finally able to resize the original sleeve art to 600x600, without losing to much sharpness. The second image in the one I created, and also posted on their facebook. Emily Lazar really liked it too.

At #16, comes an Indie Synthpop band that many of you are probably not familiar with? I's still not completely sure were they hail from, but I now for a fact they come from the 80's. A lot of songs have 80's vibes, but I try to make it a point to search and chart those that have not just the vibe, but sound like a long lost 80's song. That is 80's sound ,but also 80's like vocals, and this band certainly has those. With everything about this band sounding 80's; naturally my sleeve art had to be 80's as well. This is another discovery of mine on soundcloud, but you can also find some of their older songs on youtube too. "Windsurf" was another #1 charting song that managed to squeeze in a week in between two of my biggest dominating songs of the year.16. 24 Ice Choir - Windsurf (1) 48-44-36-32-29-27-24-21-19-17-15-13-12-10-8-5-3-1-5-5-9-17-23-33-offPeak: 1Wks: 24

#15 is a song that didn't quite reach the #1 position, but the band are no strangers to my top 10. I am of course talking about MisterWives. This indiepop sensation, first hit my charts in 2015 with the big hit "Refelctions". It eneded up as one of the top 100 songs on the official charts and as a top 3 song on my year end charts. This year, they released their sophmore album ,and "Machine" was the first single. It didn't exactly set the Alt world on fire, but on my charts, it rose to the top 5 and stayed their for a duration of 11 weeks. This song also had up and down movement from week to week giving it enough staying power to crash my top 15 songs of the year. Another favorite part of this song, is the music video. The video had a Mad Max apocalyptic look, but it was also the lyrics that really sung to me. It's basically about a band who want to express themselves ,and not be part of the mainstream "Machine" sound,or to have their image tampered with either. 15. 23 MisterWives - Machine (3 weeks #2) 46-41-34-28-23-20-19-16-10-6-2-2-2-3-4-3-3-4-3-5-8-12-22-offPeak: 2Wks: 23

#14 brings us ever closer to the top 10. Here like all rockers is were my Popside gets the better of me. Some rockers like Rap, but I like K-Pop. I might not be too much into the actual CHR hits, but if I lived in Tokyo, Id' probably be attending pop concerts just as much as rock concerts. K-POp is my guilty pleasure. This genre won my heart for many reasons. First ;the music. It's uptempo pop with big instruments and big choruses. There is also the vocal factor. Harmonious and in sync. And finally you have the groups themselves. Some times you have some ,that play their own instruments; which is always a plus, but the ones that don't still deliver a great performance. This is were Brave Girls, come in. "High Heels" is my highest charting K-Pop song this year. It's a full out fun song with some of the most NRGetic dancing I have witnessed this year. These girls have fun performing this video and this song is pure big 80's pop sound. The sleeve art was me trying to capture the essence of their music video.14. 27 Brave Girls - High Heels (K-Pop) (2 weeks #2) (2017)21-21-19-17-17-14-13-10-8-6-5-5-3-2-2-3-7-15-19-26-33-off

At #13 is none other than the Alternative rock sensations Green Day. This band can do no wrong in my book, As long as they keep releasing them, I'm going to keep charting them, I'm going to keep charting them. "Revolution Radio" was another big #1 song on my weekly top 50. This one did not have that "Kelly Clarkson"vibe ,I hear being mentioned. BTW, I'm still rolling around the floor from reading that comment. This song ,right here is the Green Day we are used to, and while this song was not the epic masterpiece that was "Bang Bang", I still kept this one around for the full 20 weeks. #12 is another crossover from 2016. Crossovers are songs that usually end up having long chart runs on my top 50. "Move" was another #1 song for the band ; Saint Motel. The first number one for them was "My Type". "Move" continued on with that uptempo Indie vibe they are known for. This song won my 80's heart from the intro, but once that Horns section kicked in, I was rendered helpless. There was no other choice for me , but to take this "bop" to the top of my charts.12. 25 Saint Motel - Move (1 for 2 weeks) (2017) 3-1-1-2-5-7-12-16-26-offPeak: 1Wks: 25

I took a long time contemplating what song was going to end up just outside the top 10, and finally decided on this one. All songs from this point on either spend more than two weeks at #1 or had a chart run of 23 weeks or more. I also decided on "Square Hammer" because it was one of the last 2016; crossovers still left to chart. there is still one more left, but that song crossed over in it's first week , while this song already had more than 10 weeks in 2016. With all that, this is still one hell of a fierce Metal song. It actually has more 80's vibes than a lot of other rock songs from last year. The synth riff in the intro reminded me a bit of Dio's "Rainbow In The Dark". This is also the first time I chart Ghost in one of my year end charts."Cirice" spent many weeks on my Metal Charts but never crossed over into the all genre top 50, but this melodic gem is probably one of my favorite rock songs of the last 5 years or so. With 25 weeks on my top 50 and two of those at #1, "Square Hammer" take the number 11 position on my 2017 best of the year singles. It's been quite a while since we got some new Killers material, so this stirred up a lot of excitement on the charts, as well as the personal member countdowns. On my list, is was destined to go to #1. The Killers always get top bill on my top 50. There first song ever, "Somebody Told Me" ,started it all for them, and became a big top 3 song on my charts. Since then they have had hit after hit in my top 10, and this song, just reassured that will continue that winning streak. At #9, we are up to the second hit by the hard rock band, Letters From The Fire. For This song they broke away from their adrenalized driven guitar sound to deliver a gorgeous Symphonic Power ballad called "At War". A song like this also; further showcases Alexa Kabazie's ,powerful vocal range. This song is currently my #1 song on my weekly Top 50 and counting. By the time I'm through revealing my top 10 of the year; "At War" could have spent 5 weeks at #1. The lyrical value of the song is also not your usual Active top 50 song. I'll include the lyrics , because I think they give incredible emotion to the song. I'm not sure if I'll crossover this song into 2018, since it has already at #1, but it is surely one of my favorite songs of 2017.
Lyrics: {Spoiler}The weight of your words on my shoulders I've always carried on I thought they'd get lighter as I got older But all I know is wrong
Each minute that passes feels like a lifetime The clock falls off the wall I pick up the pieces but they have no meaning Cause all I know is
Hold your breath And pray for the world to end Nothing's left Some broken hearts will never mend And every word's just a whisper to the wind I pray to God for angels he'll never send Hold your breath And pray for the world to end
Caught in a hurricane of doubt The deadweight drags me down The fire within me is burning out slowly Cause all I know is
Hold your breath And pray for the world to end Nothing's left Some broken hearts will never mend And every word's just a whisper to the wind I pray to God for angels he'll never send Hold your breath And pray for the world to end
I've been a soldier in every battle but my own Never surrendering I fought each war alone Only surviving, never winning I've never had a life worth living
I'll just hold my breath And pray for the world to end Because nothing's left Some broken hearts will never mend And every word's just a whisper to the wind I pray to God for angels he'll never send Hold your breath And pray for the world to end 9. 19 Letters From The Fire - At War (3 weeks #1)* 46-39-37-35-31-29-26-22-20-16-14-11-7-7-4-3-1-1-1-Peak: 1Wks: 19

At #8 comes the synthpop band that took last year's top #1 position with the perfect 80's sounding, "Living In A Studio". After the success of that song, I knew I had to bring on another ;Free Weights ,song in 2017. Enter, "Everybody Wants My Name". This song was actually released before "Living In A Studio", but I got more into this year. What I love about this band, is even tho, they are an indie band, they have incredible production sound to their music. Loud and crisp just like in the 80's. This is also a band that I wish I knew more about? Everybody in the indie scene seems to love their sound, yet very little information about them. From what I can gather; they are European and the lead singer; wish I knew his name, has a perfect 80's tone top his vocals. I'm already picking out the next single, so I can bring them back in 2018. 8. 26 Freeweights - Everybody Wants My Name (2 weeks #1)* 46-41-36-32-29-27-23-18-14-12-10-7-6-5-4-4-4-4-3-1-1-2-4-5-6-6- Peak: 1Wks: 26

#7 is the second appearance from Fickle Friends on my year end list. This band is a regular on my weekly top 50 and they finally scored their first number 1 song with this infectious dance pop number. The style of the song and the way the instruments are played, resembles, a lot ,another big Indiepop hit of the year from Paramore, but this one came first. Fickle Friends are more of an underground, indiepop singles band , but very popular among the scene I follow. They have released three more singles last year. Including "Brooklyn", "Hello Hello" and "hard To Be Myself" so you can sure to hear a lot more, Fickle Friends, in 2018. 7. 28 Fickle Friends - Cry Baby (1) 48-42-40-36-35-32-30-27-25-23-20-17-15-12-11-9-7-7-7-6-4-2-2-1-3-6-9-14-32-off

At #6 comes the monster rock hit from Latina Rocker DIAMANTE. This one took off on my chart, especially for it's 80's hard rock vibe, but also for DIAMANTE's vocals. She has vocal tones reminding one ,of Joan Jett. She belts out those lines with that same attitude ; Joan did back in the day. She even thrown in the growl at the end of the lines. It's all a prefect package to get you right in the "Hair Metal" party mood. This is my scene, so you can imagine how many times I played this one at our get togethers. At one whole month at #1, and also one of the most stubborn songs to leave my top 5; "Coming In Hot" , this hot number easily crashes my top 10 song of 2017. I made a lot of sleeve art for this song using different Music video stills. I'll post the original single art, and one of my mine, to close out my praise of this song. 6. 21 DIAMANTE - Coming In Hot (4 weeks #1)* 39-32-27-20-17-15-13-9-6-3-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-2-2-2-3-Peak: 1Wks: 21
