Harry would've had 7 songs in the top 10 if not for the 3-track rule. And all 13 tracks would be in the top 17. I haven't seen an album bomb in the UK like that since Divide.

It's the longest-running Number 1 in the UK since Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits.
Today, Harry Styles marks a mammoth nine weeks at Number 1 in the UK with As It Was. It becomes the longest-running UK Number 1 since Ed Sheeran’s 11-week long reign at Number 1 with Bad Habits last year.
In its ninth consecutive week at Number 1, As It Was racks up over 65,000 chart sales and is still the most-streamed song in the country, with over 7.4 million streams to its name.
Cat Burns could offer up a challenge to Harry, however, as her breakout hit Go ascends to a new peak (2) and not far behind is Lizzo, whose About Damn Time rises two spots to a new high (3), becoming Lizzo’s highest-peaking single in the UK.
Tion Wayne & La Roux continue to hit new heights with IFTK (7), while Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill returns to the UK Top 10 for the first time since 2012 (8 – more on this story below) and Ed Sheeran’s 2step enters the upper echelons of the chart for the first time (9).
David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson are up one with Crazy What Love Can Do also managing a new best position (13) and this week’s highest new entry comes courtesy of Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa and Young Thug with Potion (14) becoming Calvin’s 37th, Dua’s 22nd and Young Thug’s 11th UK Top 40 entry respectively.
Nathan Dawe and Ella Henderson crack the Top 20 for the first time with 21 Reasons (18), The K**** debut with Prince Andrew Is A Sweaty ***** (20) and Benzz’s viral hit Je M’appelle rises two (22).
Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand enters the UK Top 40 for the first time (24) following the release of Top Gun: Maverick, while Tom Grennan’s Remind Me hops up three (30) and our final new entry of the week comes courtesy of Kanye West and the late XXXTentacion on True Love (31).

Kate Bush's viral hit Running Up That Hill is challenging for Number 1 this week - while the Sex Pistols could return to the Top 5 for the first time in 43 years.
It could be the battle of two pop titans. Kate Bush’s classic Running Up That Hill could leap up six places to Number 2 this week – can it challenge Harry Styles for Number 1? Originally released in 1985, where the track peaked at Number 3, it could reach its highest-ever peak thanks to Stranger Things.
Sex Pistols re-released two very special vinyl pressings of their controversial anti-monarchist anthem God Save The Queen and are looking to re-enter the Top 5 for the first time in 43 years.
Following a stirring performance at last night’s Platinum Party at the Palace, Sam Ryder’s Eurovision anthem SPACE MAN might break back into the top 10, currently its up two to Number 9.
Several slow-burning hits across the Official Singles Chart are on track to reach new peaks this week; including David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson’s Crazy What Love Can Do (12), George Ezra’s Green Green Grass (13) and Nathan Dawe ft. Ella Henderson with 21 Reasons (16).

I love seeing that Britney has an album charting in the UK. Greatest Hits albums seem to do really well there.

Kate Bush proves unlikely competition for Harry Styles, but As It Was reigns atop the Official Singles Chart for a tenth consecutive week
Following its unprecedented viral success after featuring heavily in the latest series of Netflix show Stranger Things, Kate Bush’s 1985 track Running Up That Hill jumps six places to Number 2 this week.
Originally released some 37 years ago, the song achieves a new UK Official Singles Chart best, having previously peaked at Number 3.
Harry Styles makes it a mammoth ten weeks at Number 1 with As It Was continuing its reign. With both the single and its parent album, Harry’s House, sitting atop their respective charts this week, Harry scores the UK Official Chart Double once again.
Elsewhere in the Top 10, Sam Ryder’s anthemic single SPACE MAN returns to the Top 3 thanks to his performance at last weekend’s Platinum Party at the Palace and a new Platinum Jubilee Edit (3).
Tion Wayne & La Roux continue their ascent with IFTK (6). Could the track climb further next week and provide La Roux their first Top 5 hit since 2009’s Bulletproof?
Another Platinum Party at the Palace performer, George Ezra, enjoys a boost this week as Green Green Grass lands a new peak (9) climbing all the way into the Top 10 for the first time. Highest climber of the week comes courtesy of Scottish dance duo LF System whose viral TikTok success transcends the app to land themselves their first UK Top 20 single. Afraid to Feel vaults an incredible 56 places to Number 13. Meanwhile, Nathan Dawe and Ella Henderson’s catchy dance track 21 Reasons continues its steady rise to a new peak of Number 17.
In the week his album Twelve Carat Toothache goes Top 5, Post Malone boasts three singles in the Top 40. Cooped Up featuring Roddy Ricch hits a new high of Number 18, while Doja Cat collaboration I Like You (A Happier Song) is new at Number 19, and Lemon Tree debuts at Number 40 – marking Post Malone’s 18th and 19th Top 40 singles respectively.
Tom Grennan’s summer slow burner Remind Me reaches a new peak this week (27), while Burna Boy’s Last Last (29) enters the Top 40 for the first time, climbing 15 places to become his sixth Top 40 hit.
Finally, Diplo & Miguel reach a new peak of 35 with Don’t Forget My Love, and Leah Kate rebounds four to Number 37 with 10 Things I Hate About You.

The song's surge in popularity thanks to Stranger Things could see it reach a brand-new peak
Kate Bush is on track to claim this week’s Number 1 single with Running Up That Hill, possibly ending Harry Styles’ ten-week reign atop the Official Singles Chart with As It Was.
Originally released in 1985, Running Up That Hill could boast a new high having previously peaked at Number 2 on last week’s chart. The track, which enjoys a surge in popularity thanks to its inclusion on Netflix series Stranger Things, could also become Kate’s first chart-topping single since 1978’s Wuthering Heights.
Scottish dance duo LF SYSTEM look set to storm into the Top 5, with Afraid to Feel eyeing a Number 4 position. This would mark a new peak for the track, which has truly transcended its TikTok virality to reach the Official Singles Chart.
This week’s highest new entry could come courtesy of BTS. Yet to Come, a brand new track from their PROOF anthology album, looks set to become the K-pop group’s eighth UK Top 40 single to date.
Several slow-burner hits are tracking to reach new peaks on the Official Singles Chart this week, including George Ezra’s Green Green Grass (6), David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson’s Crazy What Love Can Do (12), Nathan Dawe featuring Ella Henderson’s 21 Reasons (13), Benzz’ Je M’Appelle (18) and Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa and Young Thug’s Potion (19).

Keep in mind, this upcoming week will be As It Was 11th week on the chart, and as a result, its streams will start counting for less on the charts. This should give the advantage to Running Up That Hill in the #1 race.

Official Number 1 single
Kate Bush tops this week’s Official Singles Chart with Running Up That Hill, 37 years after the song’s release, breaking a slew of Official Chart records in the process, the Official Charts Company can confirm.
The song’s popularity has exploded in previous weeks, becoming a zeitgeist-defining moment not just in the UK but around the world following its inclusion in the latest season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, introducing the warped New Wave track to a whole new generation of fans.
By landing at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, Kate Bush achieves three all-time Official Chart records simultaneously:
Kate boasts the longest-ever gap between Number 1 singles in Official Chart history. With 44 years between her 1978 chart topper Wuthering Heights and 2022’s Running Up That Hill, she beats Tom Jones’s 42-year gap between Green Green Grass of Home and charity single (Barry) Islands in the Stream. See the full list of longest gaps between Number 1 singles here.
Moreover, Kate now claims the record of longest time taken for a single to reach Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. Running Up That Hill first entered the chart in August 1985 and now hits the top spot 37 years later. The record was previously held by Wham!, who saw Last Christmas top the Official Singles Chart 36 years after its release.
See the full list of songs that've taken the longest time to reach Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart here.
If that’s not enough record-smashing for one week, Kate today also becomes the oldest female artist ever to score a Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. At 63 years and 11 months, she replaces Cher, who was 52 when Believe topped the Official Singles Chart in 1998. Kate now places fifth on the list of oldest artists to score a UK Number 1 single.
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts Company, comments: “It has been fantastic to see the iconic Kate Bush climbing up the Official Singles Chart with Running Up That Hill - and to see her breaking a slew of records into the bargain. The way that a new generation of music fans have taken her classic track to their hearts really does cement Kate’s position as an all-time great, if that were at all necessary.”
Myn Jazeel, Senior Vice President, Rhino UK says: “It’s long overdue that Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) by the truly amazing Kate Bush should finally top the UK charts. This phenomenal cultural moment came about after close collaboration between Kate and her team, Netflix and the Warner Music Sync Team, and without doubt we’ve seen that a cross-generational connection has been made, with a new audience in the UK and around the world joining Kate’s existing fanbase to discover and honour her timeless brilliance.
“The success of Stranger Things, backed by Netflix, has been instrumental in creating this moment, so we must thank them. But our congratulations go out first and foremost to Kate. Running Up That Hill went to Number 3 in the UK when first released in 1985, so we’re delighted that it’s reached Number 1 almost 40 years later.
“It’s also gratifying that Kate’s wider catalogue is now being discovered and enjoyed by a whole new audience. This whole occasion feels incredible for all involved, and that’s why we work in catalogue music, for moments like this that have such broad cultural relevance and impact.”
Elsewhere on this week’s Official Singles Chart, LF SYSTEM’s funk-fused summer smash Afraid to Feel leaps 9 spots into the Top 5, scoring the Scottish dance duo a new Official Singles Chart best (4).
George Ezra’s Green Green Grass, the latest track from this week’s Official Number 1 album Gold Rush Kid, also reaches a new peak (6) - George’s previous single Anyone For You also flies 42 places following the album’s release.
As the UK experiences a heatwave, dance tracks including David Guetta, Ella Henderson and Becky Hill’s Crazy What Love Can Do (12) and Nathan Dawe and Ella Henderson’s 21 Reasons (13) hit new highs. Rising rapper Benzz enters the Top 20 for the very first time with Je M’appelle (17).
UK trap duo D-Block Europe enjoy this week’s highest new entry with Elegant & Gang (18), Burna Boy’s Last Last jumps nine (20), and K-pop group BTS’ new single Yet to Come (27) becomes the group’s ninth Top 40 hit.
OneRepublic score their first Top 40 hit in six years with Top Gun: Maverick single I Ain’t Worried, soaring 19 places to Number 28, and finally, Japanese singer Joji debuts at Number 31 with Glimpse of Us – his first ever Top 40 single.

I know the reduced streams after more than 10 weeks rule is stupid, but since it blocked AIW from getting another week at #1, I have to admit that I am for the rule this week.

Note: Kate Bush was given a manual reset off of ACR this week to ensure it hit #1. As It Was is still on regular streaming ratio (it actually increased in points this week, so at least 3 more weeks until it hits ACR).

After a record-breaking ascent, Kate Bush is on track for a second week at Number 1 - but can high-flyers LF SYSTEM or new entry Drake stop her?
Kate Bush is on track for a second week at Number 1 in the UK. Running Up That Hill broke several Official Charts records when it became Kate’s first UK Number 1 single in 44 years last Friday – and it looks like it’s not going anywhere.
Fast ascending track Afraid To Feel by LF SYSTEM could jump to a new peak of Number 3. Can anything stop it going further?
Following on from the surprise release of new album Honestly, Nevermind Drake is eyeing three new entries on Friday, all within the Top 10; Falling Back (4), Texts Go Green (6) and Jimmy Cooks with 21 Savage (7).
George Ezra recently claimed his third consecutive UK Number 1 album and Gold Rush Kid’s big single Green Green Grass could reach a new peak of Number 5 as a result.
Japanese singer Joji’s big breakout single Glimpse Of Us is set to rocket up into the Top 20 for the first this week – currently at Number 19.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

Plus Beyoncé claims her first UK Top 40 single in five years with new single Break My Soul.
Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush celebrates a second week at Number 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart as the music icon's extraordinary success continues.
This week Kate gave a rare interview to Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 about the song's renewed and record-breaking success following its use on Netflix's Stranger Things. She told presenter Emma Barnett it is "wonderful" that her music had "got to a whole new audience", many of whom had previously not heard of her.
"The thought of all these really young people hearing the song for the first time and discovering it is, well, I think it's very special," she said.
Running Up That Hill picked up 79,000 chart units - including 8.7 million streams - over the past seven days to keep its place at the top.
The song's success looks likely to continue: a new trailer for the next run of episodes (beginning July 1) was released this week and features a slightly different version of the hit.
Meanwhile, two songs hit new highs in this week's Top 5. Dance smash Afraid To Feel by LF SYSTEM is up one place to Number 3, while George Ezra's Green Green Grass hops a place to Number 5.
The surprise release of Drake's new album Honestly, Nevermind - Number 2 on this week's Official Albums Chart - sends three of the record's songs into the Top 10. Jimmy Cooks ft. 21 Savage is the highest, landing at 7, while Massive opens at 8 and Falling Back lands at 10. The entries takes Drake's tally of Top 10s in the UK to 34.
Outside the Top 10, Glimpse Of Us by rising star Joji rockets 17 places to Number 14 - the popular YouTube star's first UK Top 20 hit.
Beyoncé's Break My Soul becomes her first UK Top 40 hit in five years
Beyoncé made a welcome return earlier this week with house-infused Break My Soul, which lands at Number 21 following its surprise release on Tuesday (June 21). It becomes the star's 36th UK Top 40 hit, and her first in almost five years, since 2017's Eminem collaboration Walk On Water.
Finally, there's another big climb this week for Sigala & Talia Mar's Stay The Night, which soars 12 places to Number 28 after featuring on the latest series of ITV's Love Island.

After weeks of extraordinary upward trajectory, the Scottish DJ duo could be on track to secure their first UK chart-topper...they just have Kate Bush standing in their way.
After rocketing up the Official Singles Chart over the last four weeks, LF SYSTEM are currently challenging Kate Bush for Number 1 with viral single Afraid To Feel, at Number 2 on the Official Chart: First Look.
Kate Bush has so far enjoyed two weeks at the summit with Running Up That Hill and is heading for a third – but the Scottish DJ duo are hot on her tail with their Summery dance hit.
Following its surprise drop early last week, Beyoncé’s comeback smash BREAK MY SOUL is looking to crack the Top 10 for the first time, up 17 places to Number 4 after 48 hours.
Massive by Drake continues its pace as the breakout single from his new album Honestly, Nevermind, so far climbing two to a new peak of Number 6.
Japanese singer-songwriter and YouTube star Joji creeps ever closer to his first UK Top 10, as Glimpse Of Us looks set to rise three to Number 11.
Charlie Puth could snag this week’s highest new entry with Left and Right featuring BTS member Jung Kook; the song is tracking to debut at Number 14 and would mark Charlie’s sixth Top 20 single.
Taylor Swift’s new single Carolina is pacing to enter at Number 17 this Friday. If it holds on it will be Taylor’s 41st Top 40 hit in the UK.
Burna Boy’s Last Last has been a long-standing hit on the UK’s Official Afrobeaats Chart, and its now tracking to reach its highest peak on the Singles Chart too - up two on the first look at Number 20.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

Scottish dance duo LF SYSTEM are running up the Official Singles Chart with summer anthem Afraid to Feel - but Kate Bush holds strong for another week
Kate Bush and Running Up That Hill have secured a third consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.
The resurgent hit retains its position at the top and the UK’s most-streamed track of the week, racking up 7.3 million audio and video streams over the past seven days. It would need to hold on to Number 1 for another week however to equal Wuthering Heights’ four-week stint at the summit.
But have we found the act who could topple the Stranger Things mega-hit next week? Scottish DJ duo LF SYSTEM continue their ascent by bagging the UK’s best-selling track of the week with their breakout summer smash Afraid To Feel scrambling up to a new peak of Number 2.
Beyoncé also makes her grand return to the upper echelons of the Official Chart today. Nu-disco track Break My Soul vaults seventeen places to a new peak of Number 4. Overall, it’s Queen Bey’s 20th solo UK Top 10 hit.
Outside the Top 10, internet sensation Joji continues to climb with Glimpse Of Us, now up two to Number 12.
OneRepublic are on the rise with new track I Ain’t Worried (24) while Sigala and Talia Mar’s Stay The Night benefits from a placement on the new series of Love Island, reaching another best position inside the Top 40 (25).
Following the release of the new Elvis biopic starring Austin Butler, Doja Cat’s Vegas – which is featured in the film’s original soundtrack – struts its way into the Top 40 for the first time, climbing eight places to Number 35. This is Doja’s 13th Top 40 hit.
And finally, Bru-C, a British rapper and MC hailing from Derbyshire, also make his Official Chart Top 40 debut with No Excuses up three to Number 40.

It could be quite the week for Ella Henderson, who is potentially looking at two entries in the Official Singles Chart Top 10; both Crazy What Love Can Do with David Guetta and Becky Hill (8) and 21 Reasons with Nathan Dawe (9).
Burna Boy has been burning up the Official Afrobeats Chart with Last Last for weeks, and the fiery track could lift up to a new peak on the Official Singles Chart (17) entering the Top 20 for the first time.
And finally, this week’s highest new entry could belong to Paolo Nutini. Throughout The Echoes is taken from Paolo’s newest album Last Night In The Bittersweet, and it’s pacing for a Number 23 debut. It would be the Scottish singer-songwriter’s highest-charting single since 2014’s Scream (Funk My Life Up).
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

The Official Charts website has been down since at least earlier (I see there were top 40 song and album articles that had been posted before it went down). In the meantime, HITS published this mid-year wrap-up.
Thursday, July 7, 2022
Harry Styles has the top single of the first half of 2022 in the U.K. and the second-best-selling album, Harry’s House (Columbia), the biggest of this year’s releases. Ed Sheeran’s having a good year, too.
Harry’s House, Styles’ third solo LP, has achieved 244k in U.K. chart sales since its release in May and is the top seller on physical formats. Lead single “As It Was” logged 10 weeks atop the Official Singles Chart, with more than 855k combined chart units so far, driven by 95m streams. “As It Was” is also the most physically purchased (11k units) and digitally downloaded (33k units) song of the year.
Ed Sheeran is likewise enjoying a solid 2022, with the top-selling album of the first half of the year and three entries in the Top 10 at singles.
Sheeran’s = (Equals) (Atlantic), his fourth studio record, has racked up 256k in combined U.K. chart units this year and is also the most streamed and downloaded album of the year to date. His Divide is in the #8 slot. Sheeran’s single with Afrobeats legend Fireboy DML, “Peru,” is #2 on the singles chart, propelled by 98m streams, while his “Bad Habits” is #4 and “Shivers” comes in at #6.
“We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the mega-hit from Disney’s Encanto, places at #3, but it’s by far the most-streamed track of the year: 110m streams overall, 36m of which are video streams.
New acts with breakthrough singles this year are Cat Burns, whose “Go” (Since 93/RCA) is #7, and Belters Only, whose “Make Me Feel Good” f/Jazzy (Polydor) is #9.
At albums, the only other Top 10 entry for 2022 thus far is The Weeknd’s Dawn FM (OVO/Republic), at #10 on 101k in combined chart sales since its January debut. The biggest new British release of the year comes courtesy of Shepherd’s Bush-born drill rapper Central Cee and his mixtape 23 (ADA), at #20.

The top hits of 2022 including Harry Styles' As It Was, Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran's Peru and more
Harry Styles’ As It Was swoops in to become the biggest single of 2022 so far in the UK.
The lead track from Harry’s third solo album Harry’s House logged a total of 10 weeks atop the Official Singles Chart, making it the longest-running Number 1 of the year so far. As It Was overtakes We Don’t Talk About Bruno from Disney’s Encanto which lead the way at the end of the first quarter.
The ‘80s-influenced track streaks ahead of the competition with over 855,000 combined chart units for the year-to-date so far, driven by a huge 95 million streams. As It Was is also the most physically purchased (11,000 units) and digitally downloaded (33,000 units) song of the year so far in the UK.
Coming in hot in second place is a surprise link-up between two superstars; Afrobeats legend Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran, whose Peru may have peaked at Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart, but storms ahead of the track that denied it of its Number 1, We Don’t Talk About Bruno, propelled by a cool 98 million streams.
And speaking of We Don’t Talk About Bruno, the Encanto mega-hit may place at Number 3, but it’s by far the most-streamed track of the year to date in the UK. Bruno logs a mammoth 110 million streams overall, massively bolstered by 36 million video streams, the most for any song so far in 2022.
Ever the chart titan, Ed Sheeran logs a total of three entries in the Top 10; alongside Peru, two Number 1 hits Bad Habits (4) and Shivers (6) continue to show impressive legs. Ed is also present in the wider Top 40 thanks to his collaboration with Camila Cabello, Bam Bam (22).
Dance smash Where Are You Now by Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott places inside the Top 5 (5) after an extraordinary uplift at the beginning of the year, despite the track first dropping in 2021.
New talent is arguably the most important thing in keeping the chart alive, and today we have two acts whose breakthrough UK single earns them a place in the Top 10 of the biggest singles of the year to date.
Cat Burns’ Go (7) and Belters Only’s Make Me Feel Good ft. Jazzy (9) both experienced massive success this year, and earned each act their first UK Top 10 single in the process.
Speaking to OfficialCharts.com about Go’s success, Cat Burns says: “If someone told me Go was going to be in the Top 10 of the Official Singles Chart, let alone the unbelievable success it has brought to me as an artist a year ago, I would’ve laughed! The song has taken on a life of its own and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone’s support.”
Belters Only tell OfficialCharts.com: “We always had a vision for this track, but to find out it’s one of the Top 10 biggest songs of the year so far is just magical, we honestly have no words for the support since we have released this record, we just thank everyone for loving it & supporting us!”
Rounding out the Top 10, we have Starlight (10), the first new release of the year from Brixton-born rapper Dave. It became the Mercury Prize-winning star’s second Number 1 single in the UK, where it ruled the roost for a month-long stint.
Other hits from 2022 to make the list include Aitch & Ashanti’s Baby (15), Jax Jones and MNEK’s dance bop Where Did You Go? (17), Mimi Webb’s red-hot House On Fire (21), Tate McRae’s angsty pop-rock slow burning smash She’s All I Wanna Be (33) and Lizzo’s catchy viral hit About Damn Time (37).
Kate Bush’s chart resurrection across the last month has truly been a pleasure to witness, and it included the pop auteur breaking several long-standing Official Charts records in the process as Running Up That Hill (25) made its exciting journey to Number 1. Now the Stranger Things anthem can claim its place as one of the biggest tracks of 2022, 37 years after its original 1985 release.
And finally, the song with the lowest Official Singles Chart placement to make the list is a distinction that goes to Justin Bieber’s synth-tinged ballad Ghost (38), which peaked at a still-impressive Number 19 in the UK, and has proved to be a long-standing hit with consumers.
