The Scottish DJ duo, comprising Sean Finnigan and Conor Larkman, score their first-ever UK chart-topper with their inspired '70s disco sample
Scottish DJ duo LF SYSTEM score their first-ever UK Number 1 single with inescapable summer smash Afraid to Feel.
The production outfit, consisting of Conor Larkman and Sean Finnigan, initially saw the track go viral on TikTok; and it’s since transcended the app to become the Official biggest song in the country. The single, which samples Silk’s 1975 disco cut I Can’t Stop (Turning You On), has been streamed an incredible 5.5 million times in the UK this week. Discover more about LF SYSTEM in our exclusive interview here.
Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, LF SYSTEM say: "We’re absolutely over the moon. Thank you to everybody for buying it, streaming it and showing all of the love in the world towards it. We just want to say a massive thank you!"
Nathan Dawe and Ella Henderson’s Destination Calabria-sampling dance banger 21 Reasons succeeds in its steady ascent to the Top 10, reaching a new peak this week (10). This becomes Nathan’s second and Ella’s sixth Top 10 hit respectively.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy proves the nation’s unwavering appetite for a 2000s throwback as Last Last vaults 10 places (12). The Nigerian singer-songwriter’s fifth UK Top 20 single to date samples Toni Braxton’s 2000 Number 5 track He Wasn’t Man Enough.
OneRepublic’s I Ain’t Worried, taken from the Top Gun: Maverick movie soundtrack, continues its steady ascent to a new peak this week (21), as does Bru-C’s No Excuses (28). Having leaped 12 places this week, could the British rapper’s single soon find itself Top 20?
Could Metallica be on their way to ‘doing a Kate Bush?’ Just outside this week’s Official Singles Chart Top 40 lands Metallica’s Master Of Puppets, which marks its first appearance ever in the UK Official Chart (Number 47), some 36 years after its release.
Like Kate Bush’s Running Up The Hill, the title track from Metallica’s 1986 album of the same name is enjoying a resurgence thanks to Netflix’s Stranger Things, featuring in Eddie Munson’s guitar solo scene. If the song’s ascent continues over the coming days, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo could be heading for their first UK Top 40 single in 14 years. Metallica’s last UK Official Singles Chart Top 40 appearance was in 2008 with The Day That Never Comes, lifted from their Number 1 album Death Magnetic released the same year. See where every Metallica hit single and album charted in the UK.
Paulo Nutini and LF SYSTEM’s simultaneous Number 1s on the Official Albums Chart and Official Singles Chart respectively make it a Scottish double this week, showing the true calibre of creative talent coming out of the country.
The last time Scottish acts occupied the top positions on both UK charts was March 2019, when Tom Walker’s What a Time to Be Alive album reigned atop the chart as Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved single claimed Number 1.
On the achievement, Robert Kilpatrick, Creative Director of the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA), comments: “Following key charts success last year from the likes of Mogwai and The Snuts, Scottish artists once again demonstrate a strong fan appetite for the diverse recorded output of our ever-evolving music scene; this time with an incredible charts double-hitter.
“Paolo’s much-anticipated and captivating new record topping this week’s Official Albums Chart firmly positions him as one of Scotland’s most adored and acclaimed acts, while LF SYSTEM gaining their debut Number 1 single this week highlights the growing strength and magnetism of Scotland’s electronic scene.
“While many challenges remain for our industry following the impact of the pandemic, today’s chart success is a positive step towards cultural recovery and signifies a magic and vibrancy of Scottish music at present.”
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts Company, adds: “Many congratulations to LF SYSTEM and Paolo Nutini, on what has proven to be a banner week for Scottish talent in the Official Charts. Scotland has a fantastic musical legacy across the 70 years of the Official Charts and to see Paolo and LF add to that in 2022 is fantastic to see.”
This comes after recent British Phonographic Industry (BPI) analysis of Q1 2022’s biggest UK albums, based on Official Charts Company data, saw Glasgow named the UK’s second most creative city for music artists outside of London. Read the BPI’s full report here.

David Guetta, Becky Hill, Ella Henderson, Burna Boy and even Metallica are all on the ascent midweek
Scottish DJ duo LF SYSTEM look set to score a second week atop the Official Singles Chart with Afraid To Feel. The Silk-sampling song became the first dance track of 2022 to reach Number 1 last week, leaving members Conor Larkman and Sean Finnegan “over the moon.”
The UK’s heatwave also sees some of this summer’s biggest dance cuts experience a surge midweek. David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson’s slow burner Crazy What Love Can Do could reach a new peak this Friday (7), as could Ella’s Nathan Dawe collaboration 21 Reasons (8).
It’s been burning up the Official Afrobeats Chart with for weeks, and now Burna Boy’s Last Last looks set to lift to the Top 10 for the first time, claiming a new peak (10). The Toni Braxton-sampling song could become Burna’s first Top 10 since Stormzy and Ed Sheeran collab Own It in 2019.
And finally, the ascent of Metallica’s 1986 track Master Of Puppets continues as the song eyes a Top 40 position this week (23). Thanks to its inclusion on Netflix show Stranger Things, introducing the 37-year-old song to a whole new generation, could this latest success story ‘do a Kate Bush’ and prove a future chart-topper?
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

Could Scottish DJ duo LF SYSTEM see stiff competition from the likes of George, Burna Boy and David Guetta next week?
LF SYSTEM continue their reign atop the Official Singles Chart this week, with summer anthem Afraid To Feel securing a second week at Number 1.
The Scottish DJ duo, comprising Conor Larkman and Sean Finnegan, make it two weeks on the trot with their smash, which samples soul group Silk’s 1975 track I Can’t Stop (Turning You On). Get to know LF SYSTEM a little better with our exclusive chat here.
Elsewhere in the Top 5, George Ezra continues his steady with the infectious Green Green Grass. The second single lifted from his Number 1 album Gold Rush Kid, the song enjoys a new peak of Number 3 this week. This comes ahead of George’s “biggest show to date,” which will see him perform to 40,000 fans in London’s Finsbury Park this weekend.
Burna Boy also bags a new best for Last Last, with the track up five places to Number 7 to become his fourth UK Top 10 to date. Could the track continue its upward trajectory after the Afrobeats star teased an upcoming remix of the track with UK rapper Dave? Burna also sees Ed Sheeran collab For My Hand enter at Number 30 this week, following the release of his new album Love, Damini.
It’s a big week for Ella Henderson, too, as she features on two Top 10 tunes this week. David Guetta and Becky Hill collaboration Crazy What Love Can Do climbs to a new best of Number 8, as Nathan Dawe team-up 21 Reasons sits tight at Number 10. See Ella’s full Official Charts history here.
Other tracks enjoying new peaks this week are OneRepublic’s I Ain’t Worried (14), Sigala’s Talia Mar collab Stay The Night (17), Bru-C's No Excuses (21), Tiësto and Charli XCX team-up Hot In It (29) and Diplo and Miguel’s slow-burner Don’t Forget My Love (32).
And finally, the Stranger Things effect sees its latest success as Metallica’s Master Of Puppets makes its UK Top 40 debut – 37 years after the track’s original release (22). The rock group, comprising James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, have seen the song vault up the chart thanks to its inclusion in the latest series of the Netflix show.
Can it climb further still and ‘do a Kate Bush’?

Currently working on the compilation of songs that re-entered at the OCC YE charts since 2005 (the website gives access to 2005 and later). And gotta say, re-entries here are way too common and the possibility of songs that appear on multiple YE charts is something.

Crazy What Love Can Do! Plus can LF SYSTEM hold on to Number 1 for a third week?
David Guetta, Becky Hill & Ella Henderson have played the long game with Crazy What Love Can Do, their long-standing hit is set to crack the Top 5 of the Official Singles Chart for the first time this Friday. It comes after Becky performed the track during an appearance on last week’s Love Island.
LF SYSTEM’s reign at Number 1 with Afraid To Feel could continue for a third consecutive week.
Last week, Afrobeats legend Burna Boy scored his first-ever solo UK Top 10 with Last Last and now he’s looking to ascend again. The summer party track eyes a new peak of Number 6.
Ella Henderson currently has two singles inside the UK Top 10, and it doesn’t look like she’s going anywhere any time soon. 21 Reasons with Nathan Dawe could shift up to a new peak of Number 9.
Love Island is the gift that keeps on giving for Sigala & Talia Mar, whose collaboration Stay The Night positions itself to jump to Number 15.
Pink Floyd could return to the UK Top 40 for the first time in 27 years this week. Hey, Hey, Rise Up! with Andriy Khlyvnyuk is set to re-enter the chart at Number 18 thanks to its new physical release.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

The Scottish DJ duo secure a third week at the top, but Burna Boy's fast-rising hit cracks the Top 5 for the first time today - can it go even further next week?
LF SYSTEM have secured a third consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Afraid To Feel.
The Scottish DJ duo once again have the most-streamed track in the country – Afraid To Feel retains its chart-topping status with over 6.7 million streams to its name, succeeding in keeping nearest rival Harry Styles and As It Was at Number 2. It’s also the most bought song of the week on digital downloads. See LF SYSTEM’s Official Charts history in full here.
But has a challenger for the crown just made themselves known? After weeks of upward trajectory, Afrobeats legend Burna Boy cracks the Top 5 for the first time with the fast-rising Last Last. Jumping up three spots to a new peak of Number 4, it’s his first solo Top 5 record in the UK (having previously featured on Stormzy’s 2020 chart-topper Own It with Ed Sheeran.) Can it go even further next week?
It’s another great week for Ella Henderson on the Official Singles Chart, who reaches new peaks with two Top 10 singles; Crazy What Love Can Do with David Guetta and Becky Hill climbs to Number 6, while 21 Reasons with Nathan Dawe is up to Number 9.
Elsewhere, OneRepublic’s Top Gun: Maverick theme I Ain’t Worried reaches its highest peak yet (13), as does Sigala and Talia Mar’s Love Island anthem Stay The Night (15). Also reaching its best position yet on the Official Singles Chart is Derbyshire rapper Bru-C and his breakthrough single No Excuses, which enters the Top 20 for the first time (17).
Doja Cat also skips up one to a new peak with Elvis anthem Las Vegas (24), while this week’s big gainer is American R&B rising star Steve Lacy, who vaults up an impressive 44 slots to crack the UK Top 40 for the first time ever with Bad Habit (25). Tiesto and Charli XCX also have a late-summer hit on their hands with the fiery Hot In It rising two to a new peak (27).
This week’s highest new entry comes from Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, Halsey and Pharrell Williams with Stay With Me (29). It becomes Calvin’s 38th, Justin’s 27th, Halsey’s 12th and Pharrell’s 20th UK Top 40 hit respectively.
Becky Hill’s former Top 10 hit Remember with David Guetta re-enters the Top 40 following her appearance on Love Island (31) while Brighton rapper ArrDee scores his 7th Top 40 hit with new single Hello Mate featuring Kyla (37). The song samples Kyla’s 2008 single Do You Mind.
Ed Sheeran is also celebrating an impressive chart milestone this week; synth-inspired former Number 1 hit Bad Habits claims its 52nd consecutive week inside the UK Top 40 this week (39), meaning the song has now spent a full year inside the Official Singles Chart. It previously spent 11 weeks at Number 1, and was named the biggest song of 2021 by the Official Charts Company.
And finally, DJ James Hype’s Ferrari cracks the Top 40 for this first time this week, rising six to Number 40. Featuring vocalist Miggy Dela Rosa, it’s Hype’s second UK Top 40 single, and first in five years.

Plus, Central Cee could secure this week's highest new entry with Doja.
George Ezra could mount a challenge for Number 1 this week, with folk-pop track Green Green Grass so far up to a brand new peak of Number 2 on the Official Chart: First Look.
However LF SYSTEM are still holding steady at Number 1 after 48 hours, with Afraid To Feel approaching a month-long stint at the top of the Official Singles Chart.
This week’s highest new entry could belong to Central Cee, who is on track to debut inside the Top 5 with new track Doja. Currently at Number 4, it would be the Shepherd's Bush native’s fourth UK Top 10.
It seems like David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson can’t stop climbing with Crazy What Love Can Do, which could reach yet another new peak of Number 5 on Friday.
A very surprise release this week, Billie Eilish’s brand-new track TV arrived without prior announcement on Thursday, and it’s currently on track to debut at Number 18 in the UK - potentially Billie’s 16th Top 40 entry.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

Will Central Cee offer up a challenge next week?
LF SYSTEM have done it – locking in a straight month at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with their breakthrough single Afraid To Feel.
This week, Afraid To Feel summits with 49,000 chart sales, including 5.4 million streams plus the most digital downloads of the week.
This week’s highest new entry comes courtesy of Central Cee, whose brand-new single Doja debuts at Number 2. The track, which transcends its TikTok virality to boast mainstream success, becomes the Shepherd’s Bush star’s highest-charting single ever in the UK – Obsessed With You previously reached a peak of Number 4 in 2021. Can it go all the way next week?
Outside the Top 10, OneRepublic continue to reach new heights with I Ain’t Worried, taken from the original soundtrack of Top Gun: Maverick (12), as Sigala and Talia Mar’s Love Island anthem Stay The Night also achieves a new peak (14). US R&B artist Steve Lacy’s breakthrough hit Bad Habit also scores a new best (18) after climbing seven places, becoming his first Top 20 single.
Billie Eilish treated us all to the surprise release of a new single last week, and now Guitar Songs’ two tracks have both debuted inside the Top 40; with TV (23) and The 30th (33) becoming Billie’s 16th and 17th UK Top 40 hits respectively.
Elsewhere, Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, Halsey and Pharrell rise seven with Stay With Me (22) while 2022 Armenian Eurovision entry Rosa Linn breaks into the UK Top 40 for the first time with Snap (26). Following its viral social media success, Snap becomes the second highest-charting Eurovision song of the year in the UK, behind only Sam Ryder’s Number 2 hit SPACE MAN.
Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran rebound three places with For My Hand (32), while British DJ and producer James Hype shuffles up four slots with Ferrari (36), featuring vocalist Miggy Dela Rosa.
And finally, Australian DJ Luude secures his second UK Top 40 hit with Big City Life featuring Mattafix (37), the follow-up to Top 10 smash Down Under.

From Studio 54 to the Official Singles Chart...can Bey go all the way this week?
Beyoncé is having a RENAISSANCE in more ways than one. Following the release of her critically acclaimed seventh solo album, the record’s lead single BREAK MY SOUL could challenge long-reinging champions LF SYSTEM for Number 1 this week. BREAK MY SOUL is currently set to bounce from Nunber 6 to Number 2…but can it raise higher?
The RENAISSANCE effect continues further down the chart too - two new songs from the album could also debut in the upper echelons of the chart. Cuff It (10) and I’m That Girl (11).David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson have become staples of the Official Singles Chart Top 10 in recent weeks, and now Crazy What Love Can Do could travel even further up the chart. It could jump up one position to Number 6.
Nathan Dawe and Ella Henderson’s 21 Reasons is currently on track to reach a new peak of Number 8.
Two fast-rising dance-hits are on the move this week; James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa’s Ferrari could vault eleven (25) while Down Under hitmaker Luude and Mattafix could move the exact same (26) with both potentially seeing new peaks.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

I’ve seen Britney Spears’ Singles Collection has been charting in the top 100 often. Any idea what it has sold this year (and last)?

^For last year, vidcapper had it at 75,600 SPS. For this year, I assume it would be much less given that 39 of its 75 weeks in the album charts were presumably last year.

BREAK MY SOUL becomes Beyoncé's highest-charting solo hit.
LF SYSTEM fend off some tough competition from none other than Beyoncé to secure a fifth consecutive week at Number 1 in the UK with Afraid To Feel.
The Scottish DJ duo hold the fort at the top of the Official Singles Chart, accumulating over 5.1 million streams in the UK this week.
As for Bey, RENAISSANCE’s chart-topping release sees lead single BREAK MY SOUL fly up four spots to a new peak of Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart. Excluding her 2010 appearance as a featured artist on Lady Gaga’s chart topper Telephone, BREAK MY SOUL is now Beyoncé’s highest-charting solo hit in 14 years, since If I Was A Boy hit Number 1 in 2008, and secures the UK’s most downloaded track of the week.
Two further cuts from RENAISSANCE also debut inside the Top 20, with CUFF IT (14) and ALIEN SUPERSTAR (16) taking Bey’s UK Top 40 tally to an impressive 38.
Kate Bush may be experiencing a very current-day revival on the charts, but today we’re celebrating Running Up That Hill’s birthday – as the record-breaking ‘80s synth-pop slammer was originally released 37 years ago today. Kate holds steady at Number 9 this week, with Running Up That Hill spending its 23rd week on the chart.
OneRepublic also make a welcome return to the Official Singles Chart Top 10 today. Top Gun: Maverick anthem I Ain’t Worried jumps up two to Number 10. This marks the first Top 10 hit for Ryan Tedder and co. since Number 3-peaking Love Runs Out in 2014.
Elsewhere, US R&B rising star Steve Lacy reaches yet another new peak with breakout hit Bad Habit (17), while James Hype and Miggy Dela Rosa’s Ferrari (25) vaults eleven, and Luude & Mattafix’s Big City Life (28) jumps nine to both reach new peaks inside the Top 40.
And finally, Plaistow-born producer Jae5 achieves his first-ever credited entry inside the UK Top 40 this week, as Propeller ft. Dave and BNXN debuts at Number 38. The British-Ghanaian producer has previously worked on Top 10 hits including NSG’s Options and Dave’s Location and Disaster.

It would be both KSI and Tom's first respective UK chart-topper - but they still have a mountain to climb if they want to beat out LF SYSTEM and mega-hit Afraid To Feel.
KSI and Tom Grennan could potentially both gain their first UK Number 1 singles this week. Not Over Yet, the team-up between the two artists, hailing from Watford and Bedford respectively, is on track to debut at the top of the Official Singles Chart.
But with less than 1,000 chart units currently between the Top 2, KSI and Tom still have a mountain to climb if they want to be the act to finally unseat LF SYSTEM and Afraid To Feel from the top of the Official Singles Chart.
Harry Styles might stay up Late Night Talking, but he’s certainly not tired out just yet. The Harry’s House track is set to break back into the UK Top 10 this week, rising to Number 4. It previously peaked at Number 2.
Following the finale of Neighbours airing on UK TV, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s 1988 Number 1 single Especially For You could re-enter the UK Top 40 at Number 15.
Derbyshire rapper Bru-C looks to rise four places with breakthrough hit No Excuses to a new career-best of Number 16.
Chart regulars DJ Khaled, Drake and Lil Baby have all teamed up for Staying Alive - a modern day re-interpretation of the Bee Gees’ 1978 classic - currently aiming to debut at Number 17.
The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

Afraid To Feel settles in for a sixth consecutive week at the top of the Official Singles Chart, once again the most-streamed song in the country. Plus new entries from Joel Corry & Becky Hill, DJ Khaled and HSTikkyTokky.
LF SYSTEM prove they’re not going anywhere as they secure a sixth consecutive week at Number 1 in the UK with breakthrough smash Afraid To Feel.
The Scottish DJ duo remain atop the Official Singles Chart, fending off competition from Beyoncé’s BREAK MY SOUL (2) and George Ezra’s Green Green Grass (3) with over 5.5 million streams this week – making Afraid To Feel the most-streamed track in the country once more.
This week’s highest entry comes courtesy of KSI and Tom Grennan, whose collaboration Not Over Yet debuts at Number 4. It becomes KSI’s eighth and Tom’s fourth UK Top 10 hit in the process.
Harry Styles rises into the upper echelons of the chart with Late Night Talking (8), which originally peaked at Number 2, while OneRepublic’s Top Gun: Maverick anthem I Ain’t Worried also jumps to a new peak today (9). Elsewhere, DJ Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal earn their first-ever UK Top 10 hit. B.O.T.A (Baddest of them All), this week’s biggest climber, rises no less than 35 places (10) as the song transcends its TikTok virality to claim chart success.
Sigala and Talia Mar’s Stay The Night continues to grow, jumping four this week to a new peak (11), while the release of Calvin Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces - Vol. 2 sees Halsey, Pharrell and Justin Timberlake collab Stay With Me vault eleven places (13). Steve Lacy’s Bad Habit is up two (15), while James Hype and Miggy Dela Rosa lift up eight with Ferrari (17).
Joel Corry and Becky Hill’s long-awaited collaboration HISTORY makes its first impact on the Official Singles Chart today, debuting at Number 20. DJ Khaled also marks another new entry at Number 21 with Staying Alive, his take on the Bee Gees’ 1977 classic Stayin’ Alive featuring Drake and Lil Baby.
We also have further new entries from Headie One, Abra Cadabra and Bandokay with Can’t Be Us (27) and the first ever Official Chart entry for 20 year-old fitness influencer-turned-rapper HSTikkyTokky and J Fado with viral track Hold This (31).
Australian DJ Luude continues to climb up the chart, with new Mattafix team-up hit Big City Life up four this week (24), while Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran also rise four for a re-peak (30). And finally, Chris Brown earns his first Top 40 entry in two years as Under The Influence rises eight places (38).

Four of the tracks in the Official Singles Chart Top 5 all hail from the dance world - proof that the genre is marking a massive commercial re-birth in the UK.
It’s official – dance music is well and truly back dominating the UK’s Official Chart!
New data from the Official Charts Company confirms that this week, for the first time in six years, four of the five tracks that make up the Official Singles Chart Top 5 are dance tracks. It’s the first time since September 2016 – when The Chainsmokers and Halsey were at Number 1 with smash hit Closer – that this has happened, and is further proof of the dance renaissance taking over the UK this summer.
The charge is once again led by Scottish DJ duo LF SYSTEM, who hold on tight for a seventh consecutive week at Number 1, with Afraid To Feel raking in over 5.2 million streams, making it the most-streamed track in the UK. While further dance floor hits from the likes of Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal (2), Beyoncé (3) and David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson (5) all join the Top 5 Official Chart leaderboard.
East London DJ Eliza Rose’s rising breakout hit B.O.T.A (Baddest Of Them All) poses a real challenge to LF System’s residency at the top - the house slammer jumps up eight spots to a new peak of Number 2 after transcending its viral TikTok success. After leapfrogging Beyoncé’s Break My Soul, can Eliza go all the way next week?
It’s Crazy What Love Can Do, and it’s crazy how patient David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson have been. After weeks of inching closer, their collab finally leaps up two spots to break into the Top 5 (5) for the first time.
OneRepublic’s Top Gun: Maverick smash I Ain’t Worried is up three (6), DJ James Hype and Miggy Dela Rosa zoom up eight with Ferrari (9) to provide James his first UK Top 10 in five years and Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, Halsey and Pharrell jump three (10) for Calvin’s 28th, Justin’s 21st, Pharrell’s 9th and Halsey’s 4th UK Top 10 hits respectively with Stay With Me.
Elsewhere, Steve Lacy climbs three with Bad Habit (12), Derbyshire rapper Bru-C also hits a new peak with No Excuses (14) and Luude’s Down Under follow-up Big City Life with Mattafix is up eight (16).
This week’s highest new entry comes courtesy of rap superstar Nicki Minaj, whose new single Super Freaky Girl enters at Number 15. Famed for her prolific collaborations, the track which interpolates Rick James’ 1981 hit Super Freak, becomes Nicki’s highest-peaking solo single since 2013’s Anaconda, and delivers her a 40th UK Top 40 entry.
Joel Corry and Becky Hill’s late summertime anthem History is up two this week (18), as Tiesto and Charli XCX heat up to a new peak thanks to the release of Hot In It’s music video (24). Meanwhile, Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran also reach new heights with collaboration For My Hand (25).
Chris Brown’s new track Under The Influence rises six slots (32), while two acts gain their first-ever UK Top 40 single today. Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot is this week’s highest climber, vaulting twenty-five with All For You (29) and California-born artist Nicky Youre and producer Dazy are up eight with summer anthem Sunroof (33).

LF SYSTEM's Afraid To Feel challenged for Number 1 by Eliza Rose's B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) in Official Singles Chart First Look
21 August 2022
By Carl Smith
LF SYSTEM are currently on track to score an eighth consecutive week at Number 1 with summer anthem Afraid To Feel – but they’ve got some tough competition.
London DJ Eliza Rose and Mancunian producer Interplanetary Criminal’s crossover hit B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) is nipping at their heels midweek.
Should LF SYSTEM hold on, they’d surpass Encanto track We Don’t Talk About Bruno’s seven-week stint to become the year’s second-longest-running Number 1.
OneRepublic’s Top Gun: Maverick tune I Ain’t Worried looks set to continue its steady ascent, on course to reach the Top 5 for the first time this week (5).
Aitch and Ed Sheeran’s collaboration My G could storm straight into the Top 10 this week, currently tracking for a Number 7 debut. The Manchester-born rapper has already scored two Top 10 hits this year; ArrDee collab War (6) and Ashanti team-up Baby (2).
K-pop superstars BLACKPINK could claim their first-ever UK Top 10 single with Pink Venom this week. The lead single from the group’s upcoming album Born Pink currently tracks for a Number 8 entry.
Aussie producer Luude and Mattafix are set to reach a new peak with their team-up Big City Life. The track jumps five spots to Number 11 midweek.

Aitch lands a seventh Top 10 single from his record-breaking debut album, Close To Home.
LF SYSTEM overtake Encanto to claim the second-longest Number 1 run of 2022 with Afraid To Feel.
The dance smash makes it to an eighth consecutive week at the top of the Official Singles Chart, extending its run as the longest running Number 1 dance record of the decade so far, and overtaking Encanto’s seven-week run at the beginning of the year. With 4.6 million streams to its name across the last seven days, it’s once again the most streamed track in the country.
Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal are non-movers at Number 2 with their ascendant dance anthem B.O.T.A (Baddest Of Them All) but with the gap between the two songs narrowing…could Eliza dethrone LF SYSTEM next week?
OneRepublic also continue their upward streak, moving up one and cracking the Top 5 for the first time with I Ain’t Worried (5), the biggest hit from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack.
Following the success of his debut album Close To Home on the Official Albums Chart, Aitch’s new collaboration with Ed Sheeran My G enters the Official Singles Chart at Number 6, becoming his eighth Top 10 single and Ed’s 39th.
Nicki Minaj jumps five spots today as Super Freaky Girl enters the Top 10 for the first time (10), her 14th UK Top 10 hit overall.
Australian DJ Luude and vocalist Mattafix are one step closer to entering the upper echelons of the chart, with their collab Big City Life up five to a new peak of Number 11.
Just outside the Top 20, K-pop sirens BLACKPINK make a big debut with their new single Pink Venom, landing straight in at Number 22; their seventh consecutive UK Top 40 entry.
Armenian Eurovision entry Rosa Linn continues to rise with her song Snap, up three (23), while Chris Brown’s Under The Influence jumps eight (24) and California singer Nicky Youre’s Sunroof also hits a new peak (29).
Finally, acclaimed producer Fred again..’s collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, Turn On The Lights Again, becomes Fred again..’s first UK Top 40 hit as a named artist – having previously worked with the likes of Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran and Stormzy behind the scenes.

One breakthrough dance single, another legendary meet-up between two chart titans and the longest-running dance Number 1 of all time in the UK...whose going to come out on top?
There’s currently a three-way battle for Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart, as Britney Spears & Elton John’s hotly anticipated collaboration Hold Me Closer and rising DJ Eliza Rose’s B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) challenge current chart-toppers LF SYSTEM to this week's singles crown.
As it currently stands, just 1,200 chart units separate Afraid To Feel (1), B.O.T.A (2) and Hold Me Closer (3) - it’s all to play for in the second half of the week as Elton & Britney storm ahead as the highest new entry and the UK’s most downloaded track of the week so far, while LF System’s reigning Number 1 is the one to beat on streams.
Currently slated to enter at Number 3, Hold Me Closer could be Britney’s highest-charting hit since Scream & Shout reached Number 1 in 2012 and Elton’s fourth consecutive single to peak inside the Top 10 too. Elton’s previous releases Cold Heart with Dua Lipa, Merry Christmas with Ed Sheeran and Sausage Rolls For Everyone with LadBaby and Ed Sheeran all reached Number 1 – could his latest collaboration with Britney do the same in the coming weeks?
Elsewhere, OneRepublic’s Top Gun: Maverick anthem I Ain’t Worried could reach its highest peak in the UK yet (4), as could James Hype’s fast-rising dance anthem Ferrari with Miggy Dela Rosa (6) and Australian DJ Luude’s follow-up to Down Under, Big City Life (10) with Mattafix.
David Guetta and Bebe Rexha set TikTok alight with a scrapped demo for a song that sampled Eiffel 65’s iconic dance track Blue (Da Ba Dee). Now, five years on from first recording it, I’m Good (Blue) is on track to debut in the UK at Number 8 – the second best-selling single of the week so far.
Outside the Top 10, Joel Corry & Becky Hill eye up a new peak with History (18), as does Chris Brown’s Under The Influence (23) and Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran’s Hold My Hand (24).
Acclaimed producer Fred again.. earned his first-ever UK Top 40 entry as a credited artist last week with Swedish House Mafia link-up Turn On The Lights Again, which is now expected to vault up six places to a new peak of Number 34.
And finally, we’re potentially looking at two new entries further down the chart; DJ Khaled with God Did featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, John Legend and Fridayy (36) and Bugzy Malone and Mist’s Energy (38).

Eliza's collaboration with Interplanetary Criminal is Officially the UK's 1400th Number 1 single.
Congratulations to rising star Eliza Rose who secures a debut Number 1 single today, and becomes the first female DJ to top the Official Singles Chart in 22 years, since Sonique’s It Feels So Good in 2002.
Riding the crest of the dance revival currently underway on the UK charts, following a six-week climb, Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal‘s B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) successfully un-seats LF SYSTEM’s long-standing chart-topper Afraid To Feel (2) to become the UK’s 1,400th Number 1 of all time.
The track, which has been gaining momentum across the festival season, tops the Official Singles Chart, the UK’s most-streamed song of the week, amassing 4.8 million streams.
Celebrating with Official Charts, Eliza Rose said "I just want to say thank you to everyone who listened, streamed and downloaded. This is The People's Rhythm and I feel like everyone came together to get this to Number 1. I never expected it in a million years. Thank you. It's fabulous!"
The UK’s 1,400th Number 1 lands just ahead of the 70th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart in November. It’s also seven years to the week since the 1300th Number 1 single – Rachel Platten’s Fight Song.
Other landmark Number 1s include, of course, the first ever Number 1, Here In My Heart by Al Martino, Help! by the Beatles (200), Don’t Cry For Me Argentina from Evita, performed by Julie Covington (400), and Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa and Pink (900).
