What a complete disaster for Gaga. Grace Randolph now says that her acting career is pretty much over unless she funds a movie herself. This is one of the biggest disasters in cinema history.

Grace Randolph? Girl, get out of here. You may as well be quoting Perez Hilton. She is the least respected movie “critic” on the Internet. Lady Gaga is not to blame for a JOKER movie bombing, lmao. This movie is legendary, though. Its box office numbers drop with every update. We are watching word of mouth kill a movie in real time. It’s really something to behold.

Everyone pretty much agrees Gaga wasn't one of the many issues. D Cinemascore, lowest ever for a comic book based film lol. Todd Phillips might be in the trouble Grace says Gaga is.

This movie is legendary, though. Its box office numbers drop with every update. We are watching word of mouth kill a movie in real time. It’s really something to behold. Yes, let's attack Grace simply because she has some integrity (unlike the Variety hacks who recently published a clickbait article about Gaga securing an Oscar nom with a 33% RT score). Whether you like her or not, she's one of the most followed film critics with interesting takes. It's funny how the narrative has shifted from "Gaga is about to score a $1B movie and an Oscar nod" to "Gaga has nothing to do with this movie's performance." She's literally a co-lead who is on every poster. The scathing criticism mainly stems from the fact that this movie is a musical, which is the reason why Gaga is part of the cast in the first place. There was also strong backlash against Gaga from Harley Quinn fans. I saw one social media post with roughly 40M views that had the entire comment section criticizing Gaga. For this movie not to tank, they simply had to refrain from turning this into a musical and cast someone like Robbie as Harley. Gaga has also not received any rave reviews for her performance. I've also read some RT reviews that explicitly criticize her performance. The "some verve" part in the RT consensus is not a rave review. So, it's pretty safe to say that Gaga is one of the key reasons why this movie is shaping up to be one of the biggest disasters in recent cinema history. And it really doesn't matter if she was responsible for this movie's failure since she's the face of this commercial catastrophe (it's literally called Folie à Deux). It's hard to see how she will be able to secure major roles in the future given that WB has set hundreds of millions of dollars on fire. No one will be willing to pay her big $$$. Will this even make $200M at the box office? Seems unlikely given that the WOM is terrible. The movie's budget is $200 million before marketing. Gaga was paid $12 million for this movie (on par with Tom Cruise in TGM). There's just no way a major studio is going to risk casting her in the future. So, as Grace said, she will either have to retire from acting or focus on some self-funded/indie projects.

Your point is?
Would it be so bad if she actually did an indie project next?
(My guess is a superhero movie though)

Yawn. What a joke. It’s not even the biggest movie disaster of the last two weeks. Megalopolis was just last weekend. And Margot Robbie flopped as Harley Quinn in two movies, so I guess that does beat Gaga’s one. 😂
You enjoy your opinion, though. It’s certainly something.

For what it's worth, it got WB's third biggest opening in Italy (behind Barbie and the first Joker and above The Batman) so it is not really the box office BOMB people think it will be. There are loads of movies that did worse on box office than this ever will.
She also reached 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, only the 5th artist ever to do so.

Magalopolis is an artsy self-funded movie that was never meant to do well at the box office. JFAD is a follow-up to one of the biggest movies of the previous decade with some of the most iconic characters in popular culture. It is undoubtedly one of the biggest commercial failures in history. It is now on track to open with less than $40 million (!) in the U.S. It will be probably end up at roughly $35 million. BOP, while a commercial failure, still was acclaimed and came closer to breaking even. And I’m pretty sure Margo would have been amazing in JFAD. She would have secured more $ considering that had a highly acclaimed $1.5 billion juggernaut. WB is on track to lose hundreds of millions with Gaga’s JFAD. The budget has probably ballooned to $350-400M with marketing expenses.

Ok, so you would've rather seen Margot Robbie in that movie you call "one of the biggest commercial failures in history"? Make it make sense...

The last time Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn, the movie made almost the exact as House of Gucci, Gaga's adult drama. I'm dyyyyyying at the back-breaking reach.
The Suicide Squad (2021): $168 million House of Gucci (2021): $$153 million

LOL at these dramatic posts. Gaga isn't even a full-time actress. Every actor/actress out there has mega-flops to their name (including Margot Robbie). The blame is very rarely layed at their feet.
Gaga also didn't direct, write and produce this movie. That would be Todd Phillips. He's the one getting the brunt of the kickback for his bizarre decisions when it comes to the making of this film.
And Gaga hasn't even gotten bad notices, quite the opposite. Nobody is blaming her for the way this film turned out, she's largely coming out of this unscathed.

Did no one learn from the Die With A Smile or recent Katy Perry threads to stop feeding people on a negative hate train?

There are loads of movies that did worse on box office than this ever will. She also reached 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, only the 5th artist ever to do so. Italy and Germany are literally the only markets where it performed relatively well. How many follow-ups to massive commercial hits like Joker performed so poorly at the box office? Not to mention the absolutely atrocious RT score. Spotify's monthly listeners are highly inflated by her current duet with Bruno. Let's see how her actual lead single is going to perform. Her latest album failed to even debut in the top 10 (I get that it doesn't have commercial appeal, but her fanbase along was supposed to secure at least a top 10 placement).

These discussions are pointless, but it is pretty obvious that this movie would not have flopped so hard if it had not ventured into the musical genre and featured Robbie.

This is not Gaga's fault, most people just didn't want a "co-lead" and a musical. No celebrity/artist/actress could save this movie, Todd Phillips failed with this one.

She's not a full-time actress. Robbie is a full-time actress with a huge filmography, so she can afford flops like "Babylon" since she has had a lot of hit movies as well. Gaga has a total of three movies. She struck gold with the first one. The second one was mediocre (even though she did get raves and nearly secured another Oscar nomination), the third one, which was supposed to be her big moment, ended up being one of the biggest disasters in cinema history. Arguing that she's going to come out of this unscathed is largely wishful thinking given that she will no longer be offered eight-figure salaries after such a box office disaster. She will have to seek funding herself or settle for low-budget movies. This is exactly what Grace said, and I don't see what's wrong with this take.

Yawn. Well let’s wait and see what happens. You think her career is over. Others disagree. Why argue about something nobody knows until it actually happens or don’t. You’ve made your case, now let’s wait and see if you’re right. In the meantime, grass is looking really nice for your fingers right about now.

You sound so ridiculous, overdramatic and like you know nothing about film or how the film industry works. One of the biggest disasters in cinema history? This isn't even the most embarrassing underperformer of this year, lol. Gaga isn't catching the blame, the same way Joaquin isn't. Todd Phillips is. And also Warner Brothers, with their constant mishandling of their DC properties. One misfire after another. And I guarantee you, nobody gives a shit about Grace Randolph. She's just feeding you the narrative that you clearly crave. Gaga is gonna continue doing a film every couple of years when the mood strikes her and the world will continue spinning.

Name a single follow-up to a blockbuster that did worse than Joker 2. It's only comparable to Alice Through the Looking Glass. So, it is still one of the biggest disasters. Ok, but she's not getting any big offers in the near future (if ever).

She is most likely already working on her next film project. The Joker was shot 1.5 years ago.

The list of flops and embarrassing sequels is infinite. And it's not just about box office, it's about perception of the film. This isn't some Batman & Robin or Madame Web level disaster. This is being painted as an ambitious misfire. Not a meme-worthy crapfest. So the context is completely different because even if they didn't like it, critics at the very least approached it seriously. Even in the negative reviews, the actors are being praised, one of the biggest complaints is NOT ENOUGH Gaga. So Gaga isn't coming out of this with a bunch of stink on her. It's not the kind of film that destroys or damages an acting career. This isn't Glitter or Showgirls. This is gonna come down to Todd Phillips and Warner Bros completely misreading the room. And I can't wait for her next film projects to be announced, lol. And just for some context, I don't even think Gaga is a great actress. I hated the first Joker and have no desire to see this one. Why am I even defending this? Your histrionics aren't subtle and just a little too gleeful even for me I guess.

And Madame Web was a predictable flop. This movie is a disaster of historic proportions because it went from being predicted to open with $120-150M to barely securing $40M. Name a single movie that was a follow-up to a major blockbuster hit and tanked so hard despite high expectations. At least, we can agree that Gaga is not a good actress. She just got lucky with "A Star Is Born," and she will remain a one movie wonder.
