Does anyone else find her a bit off-putting in this? Sort of above it all? Not so much what she says (a lot of what she says is lovely), but her tone? She seems like she can’t be bothered.
On a positive note, movie trailer looks great and I can’t wait to see it. I think her acting looks very strong and it seems like a fitting role for her. |

I actually thought the opposite regarding the Vogue interview. I stopped watching these Vogue question videos because they always seem so fake, pretentious and very rehearsed. I felt Gaga's was a breath of fresh air because it seemed like it wasn't so rehearsed and more off the cuff. I would take this Gaga much more than some of her interviews during the late FAME MONSTER/BORN THIS WAY era. |

Soundtracks usually have staying power and with the holidays coming up and the great buzz and reviews and award shows coming up, I believe the soundtrack will have long legs and will rack up the dollars. |

Very excited for this movie and glad it will play in the iPic theater in Austin because I can walk there in less than 10 minutes.

So, I just saw the movie! {Spoiler Alert}
I need to review the soundtrack listing but I think the songs were presented in the order they are on the soundtrack, which would make sense.
It took a while for me to get used to Gaga's character because it's hard to really see her as someone other than Gaga. That sense never really left but it was easier to mix her as her character progressed. I'd be curious to see how someone who doesn't see or know much about her as a pop star would perceive her. I think she did really well though, especially in the second half. Bradley's performance was on!
There were parts in the movie when Gaga would sing songs that reminded me of Joanne Gaga, which makes sense given that a lot of the songs are folk/country, but one or two times the thought came to me, this soundtrack could be Gaga's best album! There were a few pop songs that aren't good - though they're obviously meant to be ridiculous, including the one co-written by Diane Warren.
BRANDI CARLILE MADE A CAMEO! I nearly died when I saw and heard her! <3 (plus Halsey and Alec Baldwin)
The song rumoured to be her I Will Always Love You is in there and it's pretty obvious. Admittedly it's not as iconic as that (but what is?) but it came at a pivotal point in the film and there. was. not. a. dry. eye. in. the. theatre. !!!!! The song is a *moment* not only in the film but for Gaga's career - though I worry it may be modelled too much after IWALY.
I took a friend of mine who has always been vocal about how much she hated Gaga and she LOVED the movie. When the screen went to black at the end, she whispered loudly "well, fuck." It'll make more sense when you see it.
It was a great film! I can't wait to get the soundtrack! |

I'd say it comes down to competition. Would I say the performances are better than something like Hidden Figures? Nope. But I think there's something to be said for the buzz so a nomination is possible. More so for Bradley and Best Picture. Gaga is good, don't get me wrong, but there's something about a pop star playing a pop star that makes me rethink it. Sis has never sounded so good though. |

I was hoping the soundtrack versions were going to be studio recordings of the songs in the film but as evident from the crowd heard during "Shallow", we're probably not getting that at all. Bummer.

Actually, the bigger revelation for me is Bradley Cooper's voice. It is quite lovely and unexpected. Gaga is doing her usual Gaga Wail, so its basically what I would expect from her. But for me Bradley Cooper really sells it.
