I may be outing myself here as a Fortnite player but... she's technically not confirmed for a concert. She's the face of the new Festival season (it's the new, Guitar-Hero/Rock Band-esque mode). She's getting two skins (both heavily inspired by Chromatica), a few other cosmetics, a few emotes (the Rain on Me dance is the only confirmed one), and at least one of her skins will be playable on LEGO form (another new mode). You don't technically need to play the shooter mode to enjoy the Gaga content.
So far these songs are confirmed (Poker Face is locked behind a progression system so you'd have to do several quests to earn the song, and Bad Romance is already in the game).
The Weeknd was the previous and first act to do this type of deal with the game, and while he didn't drop new music, he did drop a new music video towards the end of his season - Gaga's season ends April 22 so she might drop something around that time.
Her hype alone already boosted the numbers of the Festival mode so tomorrow when she drops the game might experience a huge surge in traffic.

We'll know more about it all tomorrow (the game requires a download for her stuff to appear starting tomorrow, and people are savvy enough to look inside the code of the game for stuff like a potential concert event).

I miss her in music.
The way she reignited pop music with outstanding visuals and music was something else.
I know Taylor’s success is now even a bigger deal than what Gaga did, but I miss her point of view, art, and music. Surely, her last couple of albums weren’t as strong as the previous ones, but I’m sure she has lots more to offer. Hope she re-emerges soon with her full heart on music.

but I think Chromatica is her best album and I think more was planned before COVID halted the promotional plan.
It was a perfect synthesis of everything she'd done up to that point with maturity and life experience infused in the lyrics that she just didn't have in her early-to-mid 20s on TF/TFM/BTW.
She also put her trauma on display in a way that was cathartic and relatable.

I’m still sad over what could have been with the Chromatica era. I think the PTSD and grief driven lyrics of the album were honestly too much for a lot of people coming at the very start of the pandemic. If you look at FN released at the same time, that album was pure escapism lyrically and was huge on streaming during the start of the pandemic. I think that’s a lot more what people were looking for from music in those initial days. Rain On Me in a parallel universe with no pandemic could have easily been the song of that summer imo, and returned her to peak hitmaker status. Still nice it got that hot 100 #1 debut, but I think the nature of the lyrics at the time were definitely still a hindrance. Free Woman would have made a great follow up smash I think. Maybe Enigma or Replay for a third hit. And I agree she was ready to go all out for the era before what happened, which would have helped hugely too. Hope she still does dance pop again for this album. |
