Zeebz STAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so fitting that a decade into her career she's having arguably one of her biggest years ever. I am so in love with her right now its not even funny. When you look back on what she's done to get here so far, it seems so smart and so…I wanna say effortless…for lack of a better word, even though I know it was anything but. She's become ubiquitous once again and, if possible, to an even bigger degree. She cast her net wider and wider and it just continues to catch. She went from a Jazz album with Tony Bennett (snatching a Grammy and another #1 album, mind you), to slaying at the 87th Oscars with her Julie Andrews tribute, to her little cameo in Sin City, stayed on Oscar's radar thanks to her "Til It Happens to You" nomination and performance at the 88th Oscars, starred in American Horror Story: Hotel (snatching a Golden Globe along the way), sang the national anthem at Super Bowl 50, shared in the David Bowie tribute at the 58th Grammys, featured in American Horror Story: Roanoke, released Joanne (4th #1 album this decade), headlined Superbowl 51 (snagged Emmy's attention for it), began filming A Star is Born, headlined Coachella, Joanne World Tour, Netflix documentary, announces 2-year Vegas residency, A Star is Born is released and tops the box office, will begin her Vegas residency, Lady Gaga Enigma, at the end of this year, will co-host the 2019 Met Gala because DUH, and will likely go on to be nominated for at least one Oscar in 2019. And I'm not even mentioning the endless magazine covers, features and specials. And unfortunately that Emmy has eluded her so far (I'm still mad about TIHTY), but, come on! Who is this incredible woman? pfft...and to think people counted her out after Artpop. Bitch hadn't even gotten started. This post is so fucking sexy! Say it again, slowly - and look at me while you do it.

I'm still gutted that some of the Joanne dates got cancelled, including mine TWICE.
The number of followers on her Instagram has risen rapidly since ASIB, 31 million now, and she has 27m monthly listeners on Spotify, which is a top number. Drake has 48m and he's the KING of streaming.
She also has TWO songs on the list of the most listened songs of the 00s by female artists.

I almost feel like her and Whitney’s careers are somewhat similar with the way things have turned around for Gaga with ASIB. Gaga has released more albums, but was at a low like Whitney was after I’m Your Baby Tonight. The sales of that album were massive compared to today’s standards. But they both fell. But project wise and the times in their career it’s closely similar. Gaga is obviously getting more critical acclaim than Whitney ever did. The movie has equaled or surpassed the box office The Bodyguard earned (without inflation). She won’t see the same sales or chart success Whitney did bc it’s a different climate.
I don’t wanna say either movie saved either of their careers. The Bodyguard repositioned Whitney’s career just like I think ASIB will do the same for Gaga.

Is this in the chart thread? I’d love to hear thoughts on this. Halo? Really?!?

Yes it's all time and Halo is in top ten if we count male artists too. I don't think it's posted in the chart forum, but could be useful in Spotify thread. I'll post these there right away.

I just saw the movie and it was incredible! Gaga and Bradley’s acting was amazing, and both killed it vocally. I will admit, the start was a bit boring and I felt they rushed it, however after around 40 minutes it really started to pick up. I had chills for the entirety of I’ll Never Love Again. The other highlights were Shallow and Always Remember Us This Way. Incredible work by all involved

ASIB continues to rack up the coin in its 4th week and continues to rank at #2. $253,322,400 with a budget of 36M to produce is quite remarkable. It is sure to continue staying around thru the holidays. The cherry on the top is the likely nominations and wins during awards season. BTW, the Golden Globe nominations are out on Dec 6 and it’s likely to win best picture, director, actor, actress and the song Shallow. 👍🎥😎 www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=astarisborn2018.htm

Surprised to see Halloween behind this globally, I thought that'd be even bigger success (next week will be big for it I think)

You guys, how do I stop listening to the ASIB soundtrack? I have not been able to do so. I've also watched the INLA video a good 40 times now. Mostly I'd just like to stop crying now please.

Shallow still #1 in the UK (also #2 on Spotify yesterday) and ASIB down only 1k in sales at #2, defeated by Andrea Bocelli.

Gold Derby Will Lady Gaga (‘A Star is Born’) be only the 4th woman this century to win two Oscars in one night?
Daniel Montgomery November 1, 2018 www.goldderby.com/article/2018/lady-gaga-a-star-is-born-two-oscars-news-046253917/It’s not uncommon for men to win multiple Oscars in the same year given how over-represented they are in directing, producing, sound and various other artistic fields. Women don’t get nearly as many opportunities to wear multiple hats, so it’s predictably a lot rarer for them to accomplish that feat. In fact, it has only happened to three women in the 21st century thus far. But Lady Gaga could be the fourth. According to our predictions as of this writing, Lady Gaga is the front-runner to win Best Actress for playing an up-and-coming pop singer in “A Star is Born.” She also co-wrote multiple songs on the soundtrack, and while our predictions center is not yet open for Best Original Song, there’s a good chance she’ll be a top contender there too. And if she does win both she’ll join an exclusive club. The biggest challenge for Lady Gaga may actually be how Oscar voting is structured. While peer groups vote for the nominees in their respective categories (actors for actors, directors for directors, and so on), the winners are decided by the entire academy membership. That means voters will have the opportunity to check off Lady Gaga’s name twice. But if it looks like she’ll be a slam dunk for Best Original Song, voters may decide to spread the wealth to someone else in Best Actress, like Glenn Close (“The Wife“), who has been waiting decades to finally win. But if “A Star is Born” turns out to be an Oscar juggernaut like “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” was, voters might just give her everything that isn’t nailed down.

Shallow and A Star is Born Soundtrack is now #1 in New Zealand and continues to be #1 in Australia for a 2nd week in a row. Complete domination at that side of the world!

Finally saw the movie and I am proud. She originally wanted to be an actress and she surely shines at it.

Lady Gaga ahead to win Best Original Song Oscar now that ‘Shallow’ is only ‘A Star is Born’ submission
Paul Sheehan
November 9 2018 www.goldderby.com/article/2018/a-star-is-born-oscar-original-song-shallow-lady-gaga-news/Turns out Lady Gaga won’t be competing with herself at the Oscars when it comes to the Best Original Song race. The updated FYC site for “A Star is Born” now lists only “Shallow” under that category. An earlier version of this listing had included two other tunes that she co-wrote for the film: “Always Remember Us This Way” and “I’ll Never Love Again.” The Academy Awards allow only two songs per film to be nominated so at least one of these three would have missed the cut. With the other contenders from “A Star is Born” out of the running, “Shallow” is sure to be nominated and is the clear frontrunner in the race.

Now that the dust has settled, my favorite song on the album is Maybe It's Time followed by Is That Alright. When the Blu-Ray drops in January, I will pick it up and maybe I will appreciate everything (i.e. the movie and music) more.

"Shallow" is absolutely the best poised to make noise at the Oscars.
