I thought "Long Black Train" would be a lock for the top 15, at the bare minimum... The fact that it was barely even a top 20 contender is a major shock to me How can anybody dislike this song??!!?! Such a classic! There are tons of songs I like better from Josh Turner, but damn!

#24 ~ Are You With Me - Easton Corbin Album: All Over The Road & About To Get Real Songwriter: Tommy Lee James, Terry McBride, Shane McAnally I remember when Easton first released All Over The Road this song quickly became my favorite on that album. I listened to it so much that by the time About To Get Real came out and reprised it I had grown a little tired of it. I still love this song and was sad to see it fail at radio as it really is a great song. I never considered anything else for this as this is my favorite song from him. #23 ~ Threaten Me With Heaven - Vince Gill Album: Guitar Slinger Songwriter: Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Dillon O'Brian, Will Owsley When I first got into Country music I hated Vince Gill a lot. I couldn't get into any of his music. It wasn't until I got older that I started to really appreciate his music. Now I consider him one of my favorites. This song was released a couple months before my Grandmother passed away from cancer and it always felt like the words she would say to everyone in the family because that is the type of person she was. I always feel like a part of her is singing this song whenever I listen to it, which may sound weird but I'm not sure how else to put it. Vince Gill was also a favorite of hers and sadly she never got to hear this song. I never considered any other song for this because of how much this song means to me. Jesus. At this rate Garth Brooks is gonna fart around and win this thing! I hope he does! I think the Garth song chosen for this rankdown is terrific and I already wish I had ranked it a bit higher than I originally did. I’ll share more perspective about the song once it’s revealed (which I hope isn’t until the top ten!).

Aww! I was hoping Jason could make the top 20, but I'll take him getting close, though. Not really my favorite album track from his debut, but it's solid enough.

#21 ~ Bigger Than The Beatles - Joe Diffie Album: Life's So Funny Songwriter: Jeb Stuart Anderson, Steve Dukes This was Joe Diffie's last #1 hit and has always been one of my favorites from him. My Mom would listen to this song all the time before I became a fan of Country so I knew this song from a young age. I did consider "Third Rock From The Sun" which I probably listen to way more but I love this song a lot and am happy it made the Top half! Joe Diffie's really cool, but I would've placed him closer to my top 10 had something like "Pickup Man", "A Night to Remember", or "John Deere Green" been chosen instead.
Surprised to see in the top 20: "Love in a Bar", "Catch You While I Can", and "Get to You". I also thought that "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" would miss the top 20, but I'm glad to be proven wrong.
Sad to see miss the top 20: "Real", "Long Black Train", and "I Believe In Ghosts". I also wish that Ronnie would've lasted longer.
Next songs to miss the top 15: I think Travis and Tim are living on borrowed time at this point. I also think Clay, Michael, and Collin may end up missing the top 15 as well. If any more shockers are to be coming, then I think that Garth, Keith, and Daryle are in the running, also.

I’m totally fine with the reveals so far! Lost some high ranks but it’s going way better than I thought it would.
Ps: I love the fact that I was the last person to submit so the final ranking for each song was completely up to me, cool!

"Threaten Me With Heaven" is a song that I had no idea what to do with. It is a pretty standard (read: boring) Vince Gill song, and was almost a contender for the bottom 10 for me. With negative brownie points because it is so long. But then I took a look at some of the lyrics, and WOW... Those hit hard! And then I saw the song in a whole new light, so I bumped it up a solid 20 positions or so higher than I originally had it. But I'm still not sure if that was too much of a change, or not enough, or just right... I need to revisit the song periodically for awhile to finalize my opinion of it I guess. It could be one that falls back to the bottom 10 if the melody doesn't grow on me, or else climb up into my top 10 if the melody sinks in and grabs me.
"I Believe In Ghosts" was a very good song! Nice job Tracy Lawrence Jason Aldean!
"Bigger Than The Beatles" was ROBBED!!!!! Definitely deserved to be in the top 20! It has the perfect mix of telling a fun story while also having a fun melody. This was an immediate standout for me when I randomly bought Joe's 16 Biggest Hits album a few years ago.
Now, about the top 20... Overall this is a very solid set! I think that Aaron Tippin probably should have left before Joe Diffie. And Josh Turner should have made it too. Ryan Hurd's song is boring, and has lasted too long now. Same with David Nail.
Songs that I could see missing the top 15: "I'm Gonna Be Somebody", "Standing Outside The Fire", "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio", "Catch You While I Can", and "Gonna Get There Someday".
If King George misses the top 15, I will be crestfallen.

While Vince was my biggest loss of those 5, I'm absolutely stunned Josh's "Long Black Train" didn't make the top 20! I had thought that would be a contender for top 5 honestly. I'm glad this Vince song got better reception than he tends to get as it's lyrically one of his best. Jason's "I Believe In Ghosts" is amazing, it competes for my favorite song by him with "The Truth". I was hoping for it to be a single back during his debut but sadly it never got it's chance. "Bigger Than The Beatles" is such a fun 90's country jam, I'm happy it didn't get tanked. Still surprised Garth's lasted this long, also starting to feel like Ryan and Michael are overstaying even though I have other songs lower than them. Pleasantly surprised Travis Tritt is still in.

I am not at all surprised Michael Ray is still in this. This is by far the best song I have ever heard from him! I've been jamming to "Get To You" for months!

“Don’t Take The Girl” is a song that I used to loathe especially since it was one of the most overplayed songs back in 94/95. Only in the past year (maybe thanks to the Tim McGraw rankdown) have I now not hit skip if I hear it come on the radio. I’m actually content to see this make the top 20.

WHAT?!?!?! That was #1 at one point?!?
It's hands down his worst song. Like even though I can't stand Garth him being the singer of this isn't why I detest it. The song is just horrendous musically speaking.

The song is just horrendous musically speaking. And it looks like my ranking was the one that brought it to #1 for one single moment This did better than I expected it would given Garth's high regard here on Pulse and to see it make the top 20 is great. A few posts back I mentioned I would share some perspective on this song...so my late mom (who would've been 66 on May 23rd) was a special education paraeducator and was also very involved in Special Olympics. I got to know all of her students very well as we all grew up together and progressed from grade to grade. As I went into high school I also became involved in Special Olympics and was an assistant coach for our local area for a few years (assisted in everything from soccer, basketball, track, and bowling). I also went to the state Special Olympics in Nebraska and helped out all of the coaches and athletes. Looking back it's one of my fondest memories that I'll forever cherish. I've always associated this song to all the great memories I had with that organization (thanks to the video's incorporation of Special Olympics).

Okay so I was totally going to put this in the bottom 5 because I was just expecting it to be bad lmao but the instrumentation and melody was actually BEAUTIFUL. Loved discovering this song.
