'The Call' was the second single from the Backstreet Boys' fourth studio album 'Black & Blue'. The single found greater success across Europe than it did in the US. This is Thunderpuss' only production for the Backstreet Boys. This is our first remix to depart with multiple top 10 rankings; bat1990 loses his second consecutive top 10 while I myself am losing my first top 10 (and top half) ranking. Down the other end, Ty is saying goodbye to his #40. 'Out Of Nowhere' was a single by Gloria Estefan released to promote her compilation 'Greatest Hits Vol. II'. It was a hit on the dance charts, and was Grammy-nominated for 'Best Dance Recording' (but lost to Janet Jackson's 'All For You'). This is Thunderpuss' only production for Gloria. Ty takes further damage to his top 5, also upping the ante for the biggest loss-to-date with his #3 getting kicked out. 'I Like The Way' was the third single from Australian singer Deni Hines' debut album 'Imagination'. Originally released in 1996 in Australia and the UK, the single was a flop. In 1998 the single was promoted in the US, and became a top 5 club hit with remixes by Thunderpuss, David Morales and Dave Aude. Two top 10 rankings are lost here, and it may be surprising that mine is not one of them. Albie and Mic Technique lose their first top 10 each. 'The Wreckoning' is the debut single by brother-sister duo Boomkat (Taryn and Kellin Manning). While its biggest commercial success was in Australia and New Zealand, the remixes by Thunderpuss, DJ Monk and Brother Brown went toward making this song a #1 US club hit. Chris Cox would later produce a solo remix of follow-up single 'What U Do 2 Me'. No top 10 losses this time, but top 20 losses from myself, bat1990 and Ty. 'What A Girl Wants' is the second single from Christina Aguilera's self-titled debut album. The song found major worldwide success, but as a club single its success was limited, with only a top 20 peak on the US club charts. Thunderpuss produced two remixes of this song; the 'Dirty' remix ranked here, and the 'Fiesta' remix which had a latin flavour. Both mixes have elements of what Thunderpuss' sound would evolve into. Thunderpuss have produced several mixes for Christina, including her cover of 'The Christmas Song', follow-up single 'I Turn To You' and the all-star cover of 'Lady Marmalade' (also upcoming in this rankdown). Ky says goodbye to his first top 10 with this reveal, while Ginger Spice comes dangerously close to his first top 10 casualty. 'Tell Me Why' is a song by British girl group the Spice Girls, intended to be released as the next single from their third album 'Forever' after the double A-side release 'Holler / Let Love Lead The Way'. Plans for additional single releases from the album were eventually abandoned, but remixes of 'Tell Me Why' by Thunderpuss and Jonathan Peters were promoted to DJ's for club play. The song is speculated to be about the girls' feelings to the departure of original member Geri Halliwell, but this has never been officially confirmed. I lose my second top 10, and highest ranking so far with this reveal. 35 - N Sync - Bye Bye Bye For an uptempo remix of this song, it's decent and I do still play it from time to time, but it just lacks the energy of the original. I feel like this one could have been done with a dubby intro/outro and then have a section in the middle with the bulk of the song at a tempo closer to the original. 34 - Celine Dion - I Want You To Need Me The production itself is nice but I felt that Celine's vocals didn't go with it. It's all in key and whatnot. 33 - Brooke Allison - The Kiss-Off (Goodbye) This is such a great mix. They took a mild mannered Pop song and turned it into a massive track. The AOL email "goodbye" sample may sound dated as f**k but it's so apropos and the way it precedes the ensuing dramatic, booming synths is so memorable. That breakdown section in the middle is beautifully done. 32 - Anastacia - Boom They did a great job on this. The mix is pure drama throughout. I like the Twisted Mix as well. 31 - Backstreet Boys - The Call I was not a big fan of the original but the remix elevated this for me. 30 - Gloria Estefan - Out Of Nowhere I am a huge Gloria fan but the song was just so ordinary and so was the remix. Given how much of Gloria's stuff has been remixed for the clubs and stuff, this was so uneventful. I don't listen to the original of this ever. 29 - Deni Hines - I Like The Way I had heard this years and years ago in some local mixshows but never found out who it was by. They played the David Morales mix. I heard this mix for the first time a few years back and liked it but sort of forgot about it. This was a nice re-discovery. 28 - Boomkat - The Wreckoning After a massive PC crash in 2008, I was rebuilding my digital music collection and friend who is a DJ had a music blog and he posted a bunch of radio edits and this was one of them. I had never heard this one before and it was just such a great discovery. The breakdown with the "you don't give a s**t about me!" loops is hysterical. 27 - Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants (Dirty mix) It's a very middle of the road mix for me. I preferred the Fiesta mix of the two they did. I actually preferred the Eddie Arroyo remix which was programmed by Joey Mosk who had done work for Junior Vasquez, David Morales, Satoshi Tomiie, Frankie Knuckles, and Jonathan Peters. Elements of this mix were based on an unreleased Joey worked on for Junior for a song called "Crossing The River" by Geoff Thomas. 26 - Spice Girls - Tell Me Why I was never a fan of this song. The mix is just so-so for me. I preferred the Jonathan Peters mix though I don't revisit it that often.

The "Out of Nowhere" remix is a pleasant discovery for me - sad to see it go so early So it "Bye Bye Bye" - I like the groove of the original mix and this remix certainly elevates it.

I feel like I was really supposed to like "The Wreckoning" but something about it just sounded unfinished or unpolished to me. Glad to see that one out already. Same with "The Kiss Off". It just seemed disjointed and clunky.
Also happy to see the boy bands have seen themselves out. Love me some BSB and N'Sync but these remixes weren't cutting it.
"What A Girl Wants" was more solid than I remembered. Glad to see it at least miss the bottom 10. It's the riffs during the verses that mostly hold it together for me.
The only real disappointment to me so far was "I Like The Way" being out so early. It's one of the smoothest vocal to remix production match ups on this list. And its so dancefloor ready.

Okay yes @ Albie and I appreciating the I Like The Way remix as much as we do. Absolutely this. I'll always remember the second and third tier pop girls, or their labels, for commissioning some of the best club mixes of that era. Think Jonathan Peters and Hex Hector's takes on Mikaila's So in Love With Two, Jessica Simpson's I Think I'm In Love Peter Rauhofer powerhouse, and JP's colossal Sound Factory remix for Debelah Morgan's Dance With Me. But wait, omg, and the Underground Mix. Face melting. I feel like I was really supposed to like "The Wreckoning" but something about it just sounded unfinished or unpolished to me. Glad to see that one out already. Same with "The Kiss Off". It just seemed disjointed and clunky. I confess. I went a little easy on The Wreckoning remix which is hot but not that hot. But I was such a Boomkat stan in '03 and I've never had the opportunity to show the song or the even better followup, What U Do 2 Me, any love on this forum until now.

'Be With You' was the third single from Enrique Iglesias' self-titled English debut album, becoming his second #1 hit in the US. The song was a #1 hit on the dance chart, with additional remixes from Fernando Garibay and Latin DJ Mijangos. This was Thunderpuss' first production for Enrique. 35 - Enrique Iglesias - Be With You I love how the darker production makes this into a pleading, urgent, emotional song. The original was nice but this just took it up many notches. This was the remix that local stations played in their mixshows. One version of the music video uses the bridge from the Thunderpuss mix.

'Me' is a single by Kina Cosper, of Brownstone fame. It followed on from her single 'Girl From The Gutter' (a #21-peaking hit on the club charts), and was a bigger club hit peaking at #3. Commercial success eluded Kina however, and her self-titled debut was her only album released. The top 10 loss this time around comes from Ky, his second top 10 to depart. Mirago and Mic Technique were close to having this in their respective top 10's, while myself and Ty ditch bottom 10's. NOTE: The above teaser has been corrected for accuracy; the positions teased were actually for #22.  {Original}
'Play' was the second single from Jennifer Lopez' sophomore album 'J.Lo'. The Christina Milian-assisted track (though Christina went uncredited) was a huge success in the US and across Europe, and peaked at #2 on the Billboard club charts with remixes by Thunderpuss, Full Intention and Rui Da Silva among others. This was Thunderpuss' second production for Jennifer, previous remixing 'Feelin' So Good' from her debut (still to come in this rankdown) and later remixing 'Alive', a promo single from her film 'Enough'. Everyone's top 10 gets a break with this reveal, but most top 20's do not - with six of us putting this remix in our top half. Low reveals for Ty and Disco, as the latter ditches his #40. bat1990 14 Albie 15 Ginger Spice 15 Az Paynter 17 Ky 17 Mirago 17 Mic Technique 28 Ty 38 ★Disco★ 40 {REMIXES REMAINING} Amber - Sexual (Li Da Di) Anastacia - Love Is A Crime Britney Spears - I'm A Slave 4 U Britney Spears - Sometimes Cher - Song For The Lonely (Sunrise Mix) Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & P!nk - Lady Marmalade Cooler Kids - Morning Star Donna Summer - Love Is The Healer Eurythmics - 17 Again Janet Jackson - All For You Jennifer Lopez - Feelin' So Good Lara Fabian - I Will Love Again LeAnn Rimes - Can't Fight The Moonlight LeAnn Rimes - Tic Toc Madonna - Don't Tell Me (Hands In The Air Anthem) Mandy Moore - In My Pocket Mary J. #23 - Jennifer Lopez - Play I was a big fan of the original but I felt that most of the remixes were lifeless, especially the TP mix. I liked the Peter Rauhofer mixes.
