You accidentally copied and pasted the Have You Ever Been in Love (which deserved better! *sniffs*) ranks into the Power of the Dream reveal.

#32 is the biggest hit for top 10 losses so far with 4!! FOUR! The next two songs also come from Let's Talk About Love.

I was trying to think of something sports-related, and all I could come up with "Miles to Go (Before I Sleep)" lol
TPoD is cheesy even for Celine, but I love "Have You Ever Been in Love?"

#32"Immortality" (featuring the Bee Gees)Let's Talk About Love (1997)Points: 474 Standard Deviation: 13.8 Median: 34 Average: 30.4 Range: 45 ChartsCanada: #28 | Hot 100: N/C | CHR/Pop: N/C Immortality was written for Celine by the Bee Gees, who were enjoying a partial comeback in 1997 on the heels of their own album. They're also on the recording. It released as the third single from Let's Talk About Love following Tell Him and My Heart Will Go On - at least everywhere except the US. It was a Top 5 hit in the UK and reached #28 in Canada. A lot of Celine's music reminds me of Christmas, even if they aren't holiday songs. This is one of those. It's because I got the CD for Christmas and immediately played it out so the association is forever. Immortality is such a pretty song. That BeeGees-esque melody on the chorus is indelible even without their backing vocals.

And that's all for me tonight as I should have been in bed at least an hour ago.
The next batch of songs present a nice mixture from Celine, with all 5 from 5 different albums.

And yeah, Celine was the definition of albums artist. Even now it's surprising to me how relatively lacking she was in singles success compared to her vocal trinity peers; but it seems that for her, singles served little more purpose than to let her legion of fans know an album was coming, so there really wasn't much point in them after the leads did their job.

Even still, she released a lot of random singles in various places around the world. I also remember seeing random CD singles in the music store, including for songs like Miles To Go and The Reason, I think. But yeah, overall her chart success is pretty limited compared to how big of a name and how massive some of her albums actually were.

I should probably clarify that I was thinking in terms of the US (obviously she did great here, but Celine was always more of an int'l phenom so I would guess her singles likewise performed better elsewhere). It's also worth pointing out that she and Mariah were both under Columbia, so Celine might have simply been catching the short end of the stick with Tommy Mottola viewing Mariah as his 'singles artist' and Celine as the album seller who didn't need the singles as much. Another thing I always found kind of interesting/ironic was how Mariah and Whitney's commercial dominance started to wane a bit in 1997-98, at least in part b/c the mainstream was moving on from adult contemporary, but at the same time those were Celine's biggest two years in music.

Gaaahhhh ya'll got these last two reveals the wrong way round! :sip2: Also at being the top ranking for 'Treat Her Like A Comedian' it was a first time listen when I did this and even with the lol-worthy affectation she was serving on those vocals it was kind of a jam.

Interesting to see how we are all over the place when ranking her songs, but that probably explains her appeal to such a diverse audience. Not really surprised to be the highest rank for Power Of The Dream. It's cheddar through and through - but oh man, those pipes! Attachment Deleted

Ah, I have to correct myself a bit here. Something told me to double check, and Celine was under Columbia for Canadian and European distribution, but Epic handled her US and Australian releases. Tommy was CEO of Sony as a whole though, so my general theory might still apply.

"Treat Her Like A Lady" is fun okay, I don't like how bad it did here. :(
"Water From The Moon" is so great too, I'm surprised I was one of the higher ranks on this one!

I likely won't post the next batch until this weekend as I'm going to the land of Celine tomorrow for a couple days. That's right, I'll be in Quebec. Let's just say I'm doing first-hand research for this rankdown. When will your rankdown favs?

#29"The Prayer" (duet with Andrea Bocelli)These Are Special Times (1998)Points: 498 Standard Deviation: 15.3 Median: 34 Average: 29.3 Range: 47 ChartsCanada: #37* | Hot 100: #70* | CHR/Pop: N/C * version with Josh Groban This song originally was recorded for the Quest for Camelot movie soundtrack (which also had songs from Leann Rimes, Steve Perry and The Corrs) and was later included on both Andrea Bocelli's and Celine's Christmas album These Are Special Times - and doesn't even sound out of place on it! It reached #22 on the US AC chart and #6 on Canadian AC. When teenager Josh Groban performed the song with Celine at the Grammys the next year, it became an even bigger hit, reaching #37 in Canada, #70 on the Hot 100 and even making the Top 50 on Billboard's Pop chart, at #50. It has since became an American Idol standard. Next up is a song that kind of baffles me because it was a legitimate hit yet even as an early Celine fan, I had NO idea until many years later.
This isn't so much a clue as a personal mystery

#28"Nothing Broken But My Heart"Celine Dion (1992)Points: 498 Standard Deviation: 15.0 Median: 27 Average: 29.3 Range: 46 ChartsCanada: #3 | Hot 100: #29 | CHR/Pop: #7 I first started hearing Celine's music when I was 8 or 9 because my sister was a fan. When The Colour of my Love came out, my sister made me to into the music store to buy the tape because she was too embarrassed to get it herself lmao. So by association, I heard a lot of Celine's music, saw her music videos, and cheered for her growing success - yet when I found out years later that one of her bigger hits was a track from her self-titled album, the same album that many of my favourite Celine singles come from, I was baffled. Why was I unfamiliar with this song? Why did radio and MuchMusic never play it as a recurrent/gold the way it occasionally did with Love Can Move Mountains, If You Asked Me To, Did You Give Enough Love? How did this song escape me despite being a Top 10 hit in both Canada and the US Pop chart? (And #1 on both country's AC charts). It even won an ASCAP Pop Award for being the most performed song in the US. I guess I'm not alone since it doesn't seem to sit among Celine's classics but it did get 3 Top 10 placements and nearly made it to the halfway point of the rankdown. Plus, it outdid two other singles from the parent album (with 3 more still to come). johnm1120 3 @antigonerising 5 Glove Slap 7 BackwoodsBarbie 12 Troublemaker 15 Chelsea Press 2 20 God 20 toomuchboy 22 castleoblivion26 22 .indulgecountry 24 mamooshka 25 @walker9 27 Az Paynter 35 KanenrΓ‘:ke 35 kmbgs 39 bboat11 42 someguy 43 Leo β 44 Devil Marlena Nylund 44 bat1990 46 Juanca 48 soulfulwings 48 Kurt 49

No useful clue for the next song but it loses just one Top 10 and 3 Top 20s and the lowest is a #43. Plus, @antigonerising might be happy.
