All signs point to the next single, "Love Wins," getting released very soon. Judging by the title, this better be an LGBTQ-country anthem or it's canceled. Queen Carrie needs to open the mind of many conservative listeners. Be our Kuntry Queen Carrie! I'm just kidding, but that would be f**king dope if it was. I'd have a lot of respect for her cus that's a risky move for a successful single. Judging by what we know about the video (LGBTQ couples/relationships are being depicted), it sounds like this is actually going to be what's happening! Could be a huge, massive moment, and I hope she ruffles the bigots' feathers. I'd love nothing more than to see millions of fans on the right get fronted with the fact that country music's biggest star leans left on social issues.

Underwood would need a lot of balls to release something like that. It's not like country music is all that liberal. And I would expect it to be a flop at radio.

It's not like country music is all that liberal. And I would expect it to be a flop at radio. Who cares. She's the Queen of Country. She can do whatever the fuck she wants. She SHOULD be using her position in the public eye to push social agendas that have been accepted by the rest of the modern, western world for awhile now.

Yes, the video features an LGBTQ+ couple in it (if Love Wins is indeed the song that I was told the information about). I'm not sure how prominently they are featured, but it's definitely in there to some degree which will be huge. Lyrically, we don't know quite yet if it'll specifically mention anything on this topic, or if it'll just be more of a vague/universal message, but either way I'm here for it if it's good! I just hope Carrie didn't make an entire album of inspirational songs.

But Most People Are Good went to #1 while it is claimed to be an LGBT song because of "I believe you love who you love/Ain't nothing you should ever be ashamed of" line. Also the music video of Brothers Osborne's Stay a Little Longer has LGBT couple even thought the song is not explicitly about them. Whether the song will flop at radio is determined by whether the song continues to have these noisy rock parts.

But if she literally released a song that mentions LGBT directly. Then she must not really care about radio success anymore. Because a song directly about lgbt would surely damage her radio career. I could be mistaken but country radio is more right leaning then left leaning.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the more liberal ones stray away from those topics.

Then she's going to run for president in 2020 with Oprah as her veep.

It's not really about whether radio is right or left leaning (and in fact, in many countries such as the UK, Mexico, and Australia, it's the right who pushed for gay marriage), but that no matter what they would rather not put a song that's potentially polarising in high rotation, whether it's due to the subject matter or the music itself (cf "Red Solo Cup").

Equating American politics with say, European, is flawed. Both Republicans and Democrats would be right-wing in the UK, for example.

I don't care what the next single is or what it's about, but it needs to come soon. "Cry Pretty" basically hasn't moved on the charts in like at least a month, and while I was originally hoping that them keeping it alive would mean it could still keep climbing up to a higher peak... that clearly isn't happening since it hasn't even been able to stay in the Top 10 after first sneaking in there. At least she'll still have a Top 10 streak going forward, so yeah, time to just move on already and get the hype up for the new album next month because right now "Cry Pretty" isn't doing anything more for her.

Let's not ruin a Carrie thread with politics. Kthanks It's not like anyone's arguing about policy. Also, if the song is truly political, an argument about politics will be inevitable.

Let's not ruin a Carrie thread with politics. Kthanks It's not like anyone's arguing about policy. Also, if the song is truly political, an argument about politics will be inevitable. We know the title of the song, not any of the content of it. For all we know it could be about a horse named Love who wins the Kentucky Derby. So let's not make assumptions that Carrie is trying to make some political statement. And just because "Love Wins" is potentially the song she filmed the video for that features a LGBTQ+ couple in the video doesn't mean it's going to be a political statement. Love shouldn't be political in the first place, so let's just leave that alone for the time being and wait until we hear it before getting all disgruntled about the political statements Carrie may or may not be making.

Carrie is coming for controversy-filled buzz and making a huge statement, if this is all true, of course. If so, I’m here for it! If not, oh well. We’ll see!

Eh... no matter what the topic is, I am more interested to hear if the song is well written or not. Not here for some generic universal "love conquers all" inspirational song.

I’m beginning to wonder if this will ever re-enter the top 10. No offense to Carrie or the song but it makes me wonder if they shouldn’t just drop this single and release something new since this is struggling.
