So you might be wondering why I have chosen to start with the newer album this time as opposed to the older album... Well, just you wait and see!! LBTrocks submitted the last list, and left the results in an extremely...unexpected state. I simply can't wait to get this one out of the way so y'all can see what he did

Here's the questions again, since Flops buried them on the previous page... Questions to get us started:
1) What will be #1? 2) What will be #11? 3) Which songs belong in the top 5? 4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright, Drinkin' Man) 6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? 7) Where will the #1 singles finish? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright) 8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? 9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?! 10) Any other thoughts/predictions?

1) What will be #1? Drinkin’ Man – not a great single, but an incredible song
2) What will be #11? Blue Marlin Blues
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? Drinkin’ Man Here For A Good Time Shame On Me Poison Three Nails and a Cross
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? MOST: Blue Marlin Blues LEAST: Drinkin’ Man
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright, Drinkin' Man) Drinkin’ Man - #1 baby!
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? Love’s Gonna Make It Alright #6
7) Where will the #1 singles finish? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright) Here for a Good Time - #2, Love’s Gonna Make It Alright #6
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? Poison #3
9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?! Who knows?
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? I think the top 5 is going to be close

1) What will be #1? I’m going to predict that the title track will be the winner
2) What will be #11? “Blue Marlin Blues” or “Three Nails and a Cross”
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? The title track along with the other two singles “Drinkin’ Man” and “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright” followed by “Poison” and “A Showman’s Life”
4) What song will be most polarizing? Maybe “Drinkin’ Man” or “I’ll Always Remember You” Least polarizing? The title track
5) Which of the singles will place highest and where will it place? The title track and top 2
6) Which of the singles will place lowest and where will it place? “Drinkin’ Man” and top 5
7) Where will the #1 singles finish? “Here For A Good Time” for the win with “Love's Gonna Make It Alright” in the top 5
8) What will be the highest-placing album track and where will it place? I’m hoping it’ll be either “Poison” or “A Showman’s Life” and hopefully top 5
9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?! I’m scratching my head at this one and I can only imagine...I’m going to take a wild guess though and say he tanked “Drinkin’ Man”
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? This isn’t an album that I seem to revisit much other than for an occasional listen so it was fun getting to listen to the album from beginning to end another time. The title track always makes for a great live track and I believe he mostly still performs the other two singles live as well.

1) What will be #1?* Title track. 2) What will be #11?* One of the 'Blues' Songs. 3) Which songs belong in the top 5?* The singles, plus maybe "Poison", "Shame On Me", or "A Showman's Life"? 4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?* Most: One of the 'Blues' songs. Least: maybe "House Across the Bay" or "I'll Always Remember You". 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright, Drinkin' Man)* The title track is gonna win this baby! 6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place?* "Drinkin' Man" around #5. 7) Where will the #1 singles finish? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright)* Title track will win with the other #1 single making the top three at worst. 8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place?* "Poison" in the top five somewhere. 9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?!* WAIT! FLOPS SUBMITTED FOR THESE?!? In that case, then we may end up having an album track or "Drinkin' Man" win this thing and one of the singles will get kicked out before the top five. 10) Any other thoughts/predictions?* Hmm...this was a strange album to listen to imo. Despite that, "Poison" was my favorite discovery from this album and was looking forward to hearing it as it was the most acclaimed album track iirc. I also really enjoyed his take on "A Showman's Life". I also really enjoyed "Three Nails and a Cross" tim. :'(

1) What will be #1?
I'm gonna go with either "Here For A Good Time" or "Drinkin' Man" taking #1
2) What will be #11?
"Blue Marlin Blues"
3) Which songs belong in the top 5?
Well belongs and will be in the Top 5 are two different questions:
Belongs: "Drinkin' Man", "Poison", "Love's Gonna Make It Alright", "I'll Always Remember You", and "A Showman's Life"
Will be: "Drinkin' Man", "Poison", "Here For A Good Time", "A Showman's Life", "Love's Gonna Make It Alright"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
Most: maybe "Drinkin' Man", "I'll Always Remember You" or "Here For A Good Time"
Least: Gonna go with "Poison" and "Love's Gonna Make It Alright"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright, Drinkin' Man)
This is between "Drinkin' Man" or "Here For A Good Time" I think, with one being #1
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place?
the lowest single will likely be "Love's Gonna Make It Alright" and around #5 likely
7) Where will the #1 singles finish? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright)
"Here For A Good Time" will be #1 or #2 "Love's Gonna Make It Alright" will finish around #5
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place?
I think this is between "Poison" and "A Showman's Life"
9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?!
He probably tanked the singles out of #1 and we have an album track at #1...
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? My #1 is probably gonna miss the Top 5 and I'm gonna be sad because I loved that song.

1) What will be #1? "Here for a Good Time" is my guess because it was the biggest hit. I'd love for "Drinkin' Man" to beat it tho.
2) What will be #11? Probably "Three Nails and a Cross" cause it's so sleepy.
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? The singles from this album are all fantastic + "A Showman's Life"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: "Lone Star Blues" // Least: "Here for a Good Time"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright, Drinkin' Man) I think the singles will all be top 5, but I'm guessing it's between the title track and "Drinkin' Man" and I'll give the edge to the lead single.
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? "Love's Gonna Make It Alright," no lower than #5.
7) Where will the #1 singles finish? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright) Both top 5.
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? "A Showman's Life" deserves to be the highest, for sure. I hope it's top 5 at least.
9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?! No clue.
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? I hope "Poison" flops. I seem to recall a lot of people thinking that it was a better song than "Drinkin' Man" when it got released as a single and that always confused me. DM was a poor single choice and all, but at least it's a phenomenal song... "Poison" just isn't.

1) What will be #1? Drinkin' Man is the right choice, cautious that it might end up being Here For A Good Time.
2) What will be #11? Blue Marlin Blues
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? Drinkin' Man, Here For A Good Time, Poison & Shame On Me are the ones I want to see in the Top 5 the most.
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Lone Star Blues will be the most polarizing and Here For A Good Time will be least.
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright, Drinkin' Man) Drinkin' Man will be #1.
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? Love's Gonna Make It Alright. Place somewhere in the 4-7 range.
7) Where will the #1 singles finish? (Here For A Good Time, Love's Gonna Make It Alright) Here For A Good Time will be 2, Love's Gonna Make It Alright will be 6.
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? Poison will be 3.
9) What do you think Flops did this time?!?!?! I'm so afraid of a tanking of Drinkin' Man.
10) Any other thoughts/predictions? I am curious to see how propped up Love's Gonna Make It Alright will be since it was a single. I probably overranked it myself, so I am curious to see just how high it does get overall. This is going to be a very entertaining reveal!

She was sittin’ on her bed cryin’ crocodiles. Sixteen ain’t a good age to be pregnant. And she thinks mom and dad won’t love her anymore, Like the boy who swore he always would but doesn’t. She turns and sees that bible layin’ by her bed And she crumbles to her knees as she bows her head.

Lmao as has happened several times in this album series so far, there was a VERY CLEAR last place contender from the very beginning, and yet nobody actually predicted it would be the last-place contender "Three Nails And A Cross" has been my clear least favorite song from the first time I heard the album. I find the melody to be a little slow and plodding, but also I don't really like how preachy it is... Like, the narrator of the first verse just starts shoving the gospel down peoples' throats without invitation! I do think the overall intention of the song is good, even if it was poorly executed, and there are some strong lyrical moments in the second verse especially, but overall it is one that I revisit the least from this album. Four people lose a bottom song here, including myself, tim, Kanenrá:ke, and George Strait Junkie. Cody Wants Out..., however, kicks this rankdown off with a trip to his top 5... :'( Over half the participants put this in their bottom 2, so this one was always quite doomed. However, I will tell you that this one was by no means as much of a runaway contender for last place as we have seen in some albums before! It actually escaped to #10 at one point during the submission process, and even in the end only finished 8 points behind the #10 song!

He knocked it out of the clip, and I fed him some line. I locked it up, and I began to wind. He came out of the water, spit the bait right at me And disappeared back into the sea.

Ducking out at #10, we say goodbye to the song that people seemed to mostly agree would be last place... In reality, this one only took the last place spot briefly in the very middle of the submission process. Otherwise it was able to garner enough support to stay on the very backside of the top 10. Last place ranks from Cody Wants Out... (who gets his revenge here), .indulgecountry, collinkottke, and castleoblivion26 helped sink this song to the bottom half of the album, while top 5 ranks from George Strait Junkie, LBTrocks, and gardyfan helped keep it afloat just long enough to avoid last place. I can see why this song is disliked. However, it is also very catchy, and doesn't try to be anything more than what it is; a dumb song about somebody who is having trouble fishing. The concept is unique in its ridiculousness, and George sticks the landing with his lighthearted vocal performance. To me this song is at least better than "Three Nails And A Cross", even if that is its biggest claim to fame, so I am glad it managed to stay ahead. The battle was quite close at times!

I also expected "Blue Marlin Blues" to join it in the bottom 2 as well, so no crying crocodiles for me yet.

I’ve listened to “Three Nails and a Cross” so little that I could barely tell you how the song goes. As for the hint I think that means “House Across the Bay” is next.

The bandwagon consensus barely mentioned the actual last place song, when in reality that song ended up not having much competition at all. But yes, you two did mention it I suppose ;)

I'll stop there, because I have to go to bed... But here is a hint for #9, courtesy of our main man Georgie!!!! This hint straight from the archives of King George himself was relevant to our next reveal because "If You Can Do Anything Else" has moments where it is basically a laundry list of things you can do in various cities, which is something that our next reveal has in common with it. Most notably, both songs talk about finding work in Seattle, which is always extremely shocking to me because I don't even know if I could even pick out another song that mentions Seattle!

I drew a bull called Original Sin. Heard he’d killed a couple of men. Figured this was somethin’ I could win ‘Cause the devil was on my side. I was havin’ myself one hell of a ride, But I ended up disqualified. That old bull just up and died Before they blew the whistle.

"Lone Star Blues" is a song that I am very happy to see rounding out the bottom 3. It is a great song if you're into that sort of style, but tbh it gets pretty annoying pretty fast. It has less replay value for me than the rest of the album does. Still, it's a jam when I'm in the right mood!
"House Across The Bay" was my favorite song when the album came out, but has not held up as well as the rest of the album for whatever reason. I still put it in my top 5, but I am not exactly shocked or disappointed to see it leaving now. I will say that I love the way the lyrics paint a picture of a loss, while still keeping it ambiguous enough to where you never know how or why the loss occurred. Did she die? Did she just up and leave him because the honeymoon period wore off? Both are equally plausible, and the song gains a lot of strength from that mysterious nature!

What did you do LBTrocks?!? Both of these two songs I rarely ever listen to either, but “Lone Star Blues” can be fun if I’m in the right mood for it plus it has that rootsy Delbert McClinton touch that I always get sucked into (same goes for his “Same Kind of Crazy” on George’s album Twang).

Kicking off the #1 losses of the rankdown, castleoblivion26 and myself are both unlucky first victims... "I'll Always Remember You" was a hell of a risk for him to put on an album, and I knew it would be a hell of a risk to put at #1. However, I have loved this song from the moment I heard it. The steel guitar has a really cool reverb effect on it, and I simply love the drum fill followed by the background vocalists' "Ooo" that kicks off the chorus. Not to mention the impactful lyrics... When the album came out I was like, "Oh wow, what a touching tribute to the fans!" Then a couple years later, when he announced his retirement, I put this song on, and absolutely started bawling... I didn't think that would happen; I simply wanted to hear the song because his retirement made me think of the song! But all the emotions caught up to me, and I was overcome by his earnest gratitude to his fans, paired with my own gratitude towards him for being so perfect and consistent and easy to be a stan for... Still, I knew it would be a risk. This song was put in last place by both gonecountry and gardyfan, and I would be really curious to know why... I imagine it has something to do with the talking parts making it a difficult song to get into. Thankfully, LBTrocks was not responsible for tanking this one! I was mad at him for not putting it in his top 5, but then again I wasn't any madder than I was at everybody else

Weakest song of the album but more because it's a strong album. Anything in my lower 5 could have been last.
