"Same Kind Of Crazy" is officially the biggest victim of the 3-way tie. Flops put it in his top 5, but ultimately knocked it down a position because that's just what happened in the tie. This song has always been one of my least favorites from the album. It feels like a song that is a jam I should get into, but the melody is just so jarring I never quite got into it. The first time I heard that "Did you ever meet somebody that likes all the same things you do?" line, I just about had to turn the album off and go clean my ears... Lmao that "you do" melody is SO jarring, it sounds incredibly pitchy when you are not expecting it. Now that I am more familiar with the song it is much better, but still one of the worst on the album. I will say, it is MUCH better in a live setting though! It was quite a show-stopper when I saw George's farewell tour!  |

The most dreary single of George's career finally leaves us at #9... It WAS looking likely to finish at #10, until LBTrocks' last-minute list put it in that tie, where its #1 rank was enough to push it ahead of "Same Kind Of Crazy". I give this song a lot of crap, but honestly I would probably love it a lot if it was an album track. This song has awesome lyrics, and is well-sung and full of emotion. My only problem with the song is that it is 3 1/2 minutes but feels like literally twice that... It plods on and on, and nobody in their right mind should have ever thought that people would remember this song fondly after hearing it 25 times a day on the radio for the majority of a year... Not to mention the hook for this song is incredibly contrived and cliched, but I tend to give it a pass because it was the first time I had ever heard the saying. It is only since this song came out that I have realized just how popular of an expression the hook to this song is... |

Yea I had a feeling “The Breath You Take” was coming up next…and what a bummer. I know that the song has long been revered as one of George’s weakest singles by many on Pulse but for some of us it’s beloved. I mentioned this in a PM with bboat11 but the song has always hit close to home for me because I lost my father when I was young so whenever I hear this I always think about the “what ifs” and how things would’ve been different had he still been around. I also just happened to be completing the rankdown for this album when I was back home over Christmas and my grandmother passed away on December 26th so this was the song that I put on in my car as I was driving to her burial. The lyrics You just might miss the point, If you don't slow down the pace always remind me to take a moment to live in the now and this song just never fails to stop me in my tracks. |

Ironically enough, the song that LBTrocks ranked lowest out of the 3 still managed to win the tie  "Arkansas Dave" was a much stronger contender throughout the rankdown than either of the previous songs, and actually had to be pushed backwards by him to become a part of the tie. So it is pretty fitting that the high ranks for this one were enough to keep it at the front end of the tie. At #8, this is the 5th-lowest album track, meaning this one barely holds its ground long enough here to end up in the future album-tracks rankdown! "Arkansas Dave" is a special song to George because his son Bubba wrote it. He always talks about how proud he is before he performs it live. I have always had a sense that this was a fan favorite from the album, so I was a bit shocked it finished as low as it did here. It feels like it belongs among the top 5 album tracks from the album, so the fact that it barely hung on was a surprise. |

I think he still performs this live and while I do enjoy it I'd be ok to see him retire this one from the setlist. This also seems about the right point for this song to leave the album as well. |

And #6 only beat that one by 2 points. And #5 only beat #6 by one point. The middle of this rankdown was SO close, y'all!!! You could say that "Same Kind Of Crazy" and "The Breath You Take" only missed the top 5 by 4 points, despite being at the very bottom of the top 10!!!

WHY must I always f**k s**t up in George Strait RD's like why. I adore him. I adore the majority of his music. I don't even do that badly in his RD's lmao, yet I still make waves. Coming back to this... It's probably mostly because you're always the last person to submit! Your impact is much more obvious when you are the final person to make an impact! |

While I enjoy the chorus on "Beautiful Day for Goodbye" I just find the song kind of ho-hum overall. I'm actually kind of surprised it made it this far, but I'm becoming even more puzzled by some of your rankings on George's albums bboat11... |
