I'd be pretty surprised if anything but "The Chair" finishes in the #1 slot. Outside of that, I can see anything happening in this rankdown! I got my popcorn ready.

1) What will be #1? I don’t see any scenario where “The Chair” doesn’t win
2) What will be #10? It’ll be either “I’ve Seen That Look On Me (A Thousand Times)” or “Blue Is Not A Word”
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? “The Chair”, “Haven’t You Heard”, “You Sure Got This Ol’ Redneck Feelin’ Blue”, “Lefty’s Gone”, and I’d of course really like to see “Dance Time In Texas” make it in
4) What song will be most polarizing? This one is hard to guess but I’ll say “Haven’t You Heard” Least polarizing? “The Chair”
5) Which of the singles will place highest and where will it place? “The Chair” and #1
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? “You’re Something Special To Me” didn’t make it out of the bottom 5 in George’s artist rankdown so it very well could miss the top 5 here
7) Where specifically will the #1 single “The Chair” finish? #1
8) What will be the highest-placing album track and where will it place? Hoping it’ll be “Haven’t You Heard” or “Dance Time In Texas”
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? I’m really uncertain on how everyone views this album and I think it’ll be a bit polarizing overall with some who loved it and some not so much. For an album that only had two singles they did leave quite a few strong album tracks on the floor. I know George has previously mentioned that “Haven’t You Heard” was always one of his favorites from the album but that his father didn’t like it because of George’s biological mother abandoning the family. It’s also crazy to think that not even nine months passed between the release of Something Special and #7 which also only had two singles.

1) What will be #1? The Chair, without a doubt
2) What will be #10? Blue is Not a Word
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? The Chair, In Too Deep, Lefty's Gone, Dance Time In Texas, I've Seen That Look On Me (A Thousand Times)
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most - You're Something Special to Me (I thought this was BOOOOOORRRING, I'm sure others like it but I was not a fan) Least - The Chair
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (The Chair, You're Something Special To Me) Chair - 1, YSSTM - 6
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? Hopefully
7) Where specifically will the #1 single finish? (The Chair) #1
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? In Too Deep #2
9) Any other thoughts/predictions A better album than I originally thought. That said, I have no clue w/ this one on how people will respond. I think George's prior two albums were stronger.

1) What will be #1?* Honestly, this is "The Chair"'s to lose. 2) What will be #10?* Knowing my luck, it'll be one of my favorite discoveries: "You Sure Got This Ol' Redneck Feelin' Blue". In all honesty though, maybe "Last Time the First Time" or "I've Seen That Look on Me (A Thousand Times)"? 3) Which songs belong in the top 5?* "The Chair", "Lefty's Gone", "Dance Time in Texas", "You Sure Got This Ol' Redneck Feelin' Blue", and "In Too Deep" 4) What song will be most polarizing? Either "In Too Deep" or "Haven't You Heard". Least polarizing? "The Chair". 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (The Chair, You're Something Special To Me)* "The Chair" is gonna win this in a landslide...as it should! 6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5?* I think it's about 50/50; if "You're Something Special to Me" makes the top five, it'll be right at #5 or #4. 7) Where specifically will the #1 single finish? (The Chair)* #1! Need I say more? 8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place?* I hope it's "You Sure Got This Ol' Redneck Feelin' Blue", but I'm fairly confident that we'll have an album track in the runner-up position. 9) Any other thoughts/predictions?* This was an odd album to listen to at first, but after about half a dozen run-throughs there were some clear standouts imo.

Much to the chagrin of gonecountry , we kick off the reveals for this album with a #1 loss... "I've Seen That Look On Me (A Thousand Times)" is a song with a very unique lyrical perspective. The narrator of the song knows his wife just cheated on him because she looks as guilty as he always looks after HE comes home from cheating! And he knows that he can't be too mad at her, because of course it's his fault for doing it to her so many times. Overall this is a song that most people agreed belonged in the back half of the album, but it was far from hated! In addition to the #1 rank, it also had two #3s and a #4, helping this to be the second most polarizing song of the album. It was our most consistent last-place contender, but as you can see managed to spend just as much time out of last place as it did in last place. But compared to some other albums where the last place song was set in stone for the entire submission process, this song actually did quite well!

Oh wow, I just looked at my stats chart... With an average score of 67.5/100, "I've Seen That Look On Me" is actually the HIGHEST finishing last-place finisher of any country rankdown thus far! The second-highest is actually "Love Comes From The Other Side Of Town" from the Does Fort Worth... album rankdown at 68.57. 3rd place goes to the infamous 3-way tie for last place that happened on Martina McBride's The Way That I Am album when nobody could agree on a song to dislike, giving three different songs an average of 70.00.

Bowing out at #9, we say goodbye to the album's first single already!! The title track was the followup single to the mega-hit "The Chair". While it DID finish at #4 on the charts, it ultimately has been largely forgotten in the shadow of much bigger hits from his early career. And I am glad to see it leaving now! This song is probably my least favorite hit that George ever released. The chorus melody is so jarring and weird, and I have never quite gotten used to it. However, we lose yet another #1, this time from occasional-George-listener DistrictTwelve! This song was our second-most-frequent last-place contender of the rankdown, but ultimately given enough of a boost from his #1 to save it from last place.

It’s dance time in Texas, And we’re strikin’ up the band. Let’s go honktonkin’. Honey, take my hand. It’s dance time in Texas, Where the wine and music flow. We’ll do that Texas two-step And that ol’ Cotton-Eyed Joe.

Bowing out at #8 is "Dance Time In Texas", which is actually the most polarizing song of the entire album! Everybody either ranked it in their top 4 or their bottom 3 No middle ranks at all! .indulgecountry becomes the latest to lose his #1 here. For those who are keeping track, this is the first George rankdown where the entire bottom 3 has consisted of songs that received #1s!! "Dance Time In Texas" is one that I was hoping to see a bit more love for. This song is iconic if you are looking for a song to swing to! It certainly has a bit of a novelty feel to it, but imo that is where the song's inherent charm lies. It's literally just about dancing, and is an awesome song to dance to. It even slows down for a slow dance section, and random tempo changes are something that I always appreciate. Not to mention the musicality of the musicians on this track is top notch! The instrumental solos all throughout are just plain incredible, and really help enhance the song.

"Blue Is Not A Word" is a song that would go on to be covered by Patty Loveless on her 1987 debut album, which we just finished a rankdown for. Coincidentally, "Blue Is Not A Word" also finished at #6 in that rankdown!

"Dance Time In Texas" and "Blue Is Not A Word' would've been my top two in that order. Now I really wish I had sent my list in. :(

Good. The title track to this album is very mediocre. I actually heard this at the grocery store tonight of all places. Don't think I've ever heard it on the radio. Listened to it to see if there was something I was missing. Nope. A real snoozer.

Let me preface my rankings for this album by saying there isn’t a single song on this album that I dislike so with that said let me catch up!
I had a hunch that “I’ve Seen That Look On Me (A Thousand Times)” would finish last place and three of us also ranked it as such. This song is very well written and I’ve always really liked the chorus, but that said this just happens to be the one song I revisit the least from Something Special.
I wasn’t expecting “You’re Something Special To Me” to be in the top 5 or anything but I also wasn’t expecting to see it in the bottom 2 and tbh am a bit disappointed to see it place so low. I mean this has never been a favorite of mine but I think the fact that many consider it to be one of his weakest singles overall probably hurt this one too. I was still hoping to see it escape the bottom 3.
Speaking of the bottom 3 what is “Dance Time In Texas” doing there?!? Talk about disappointing because this is a Strait classic that still receives radio airplay to this day and is often covered by a lot of bands across the Lone Star State. For anyone that put this in last place or even in the bottom 3 don’t ever expect to receive any southern hospitality from us Texans.
I’m now second guessing if I should’ve put “Blue Is Not A Word” as my last place, but overall this is also another song I tend not to revisit that often and I would only give the edge to “I’ve Seen That Look On Me” based on points for the writing. This song got more support than I was expecting and overstayed a bit longer than I would’ve liked to have seen.
As for the top 5 I’m happy to see “Lefty’s Gone” and “You Sure Got This Ol’ Redneck Feelin’ Blue” make it in and it comes as no surprise to see ‘Haven’t You Heard” make it. I’m still shaking my head at not seeing “Dance Time In Texas” in though.

"In Too Deep" is an extremely catchy song, so I am totally happy seeing it in the top 5! I can't believe nobody warned George about the double-entendre in the hook though...

Now “Always Late” breaks my heart. And every song he sang, I played the part. I heard he was sad and lived alone. It’s not right, but Lefty’s gone.
