Here I stand with my finger on his doorbell. My mind goes back to what I did last night. You see, I finally talked his wife into leavin’ him, And I’m just here to convince my conscience that it’s alright.
2. "Haven't You Heard"
Track #3 Runtime: 2:55 Songwriters: Red Lane, Wayne Kemp
Well, thank you. Could I drink you a buy? Oh, listen to me. What I mean is can I buy you a drink? Anything you please. Oh, you’re welcome. Well, I don’t think I caught your name. Are you waiting for someone to meet you here? Well, that makes two of us glad you came.
1. "The Chair"

And there we have "The Chair" with a HUGE blowout victory! I am sure most people expected that. What y'all didn't expect, however, is that this rankdown actually almost beat the Kelsea Ballerini rankdown for the biggest gap between a #1 and #2 finisher! Converted to an average on a 100-point scale, the gap between "The Chair" and "Haven't You Heard" is exactly 25.00 points. That slips this one in nicely just a tad behind Kelsea Ballerini, which holds the #1 position at 25.95 points!

We saw several #1 losses in this rankdown. Out of 10 songs, literally half of them were somebody's favorite. But what is truly interesting about this rankdown is when the #1 losses occurred.
In this rankdown, the entire bottom 3 featured #1 losses, and then absolutely none at all through the entire middle until we got to the top 2. I am pretty sure it is a rankdown first to have that type of spread for #1 losses :)

1) What will be #1? Hmm I think "Troubadour" should wind this but I can see a few others potentially challenging.
2) What will be #13? "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven"
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? "Troubadour", "House Of Cash", "It Was Me", "House With No Doors" "Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: "River Of Love" Least: "West Texas Town"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (I Saw God Today, Troubadour, River Of Love)
"Troubadour" highest #1
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? I can see "River Of Love" missing as it wasn't a well loved single while it was current.
7) Where specifically will the #1 singles finish? (I Saw God Today, River Of Love)
ISGT - #2 ROL - #7
8) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? "House Of Cash" #3
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? Two of the singles here are among my least favorite of his career and some of the album tracks among my favorite. I'd love to see an album track domination but I'm not holding my breath.

1) What will be #1? If I remember correctly "Troubadour" came out on top in George's singles rankdown so I think it'll likely finish on top again here, but I also wouldn't at all be surprised to see "I Saw God Today" come out ahead either.
2) What will be #13? Probably "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven" but I don't dislike that song as strongly as some of you do lol
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? I expect "Troubadour", "I Saw God Today", "House of Cash", and "Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song" all to be in the top 5 with maybe "It Was Me" or "Brothers of the Highway" sneaking in...that said there is one album track in particular that I've always liked and as much as I'd like to see it make the top 5 I doubt it will.
4) What song will be most polarizing? "River of Love" Least polarizing? "Troubadour"
5) Which of the singles will place highest and where will it place? "Troubadour" for the win!
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? "River of Love"
7) Where specifically will the #1 singles finish? "I Saw God Today" #2 and "River Of Love" #6
8) What will be the highest-placing album track and where will it place? "House of Cash" and possibly top 3 but definitely top 5
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? I fully understand why "River of Love" is such a polarizing song for some but I have to say this has always stood out as one of the highlights of George's live show because he obviously has a lot of fun singing it and his delivery is so smooth and groovy. It's because of that reason alone I tend to rank this song higher than others. Of all the album tracks from Troubadour I tend to hear both "West Texas Town" and "House of Cash" played frequently down here in Texas and both the title track and "I Saw God Today" still receive quite a bit of airplay as well.

Bowing out first, we say goodbye to "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven", a song that Kenny Chesney recorded around the same time and turned into a huge hit. It is a song that bothers a lot of people for a lot of reasons (for me it's that mock-Jamaican accent that George uses in the fade-out of this song... So unnecessary!), so I am not at all surprised to see it in last place here. Most people don't even know George recorded it, because it was only available on iTunes. And, I don't know if it was officially a bonus track for THIS album, or if it was just released for fun. But it had the same artwork as this album, so I chose to include it as part of this rankdown. It never stood a chance though! Perhaps the biggest shock to me here is that it was not the least polarizing song on the album. That distinction goes to the #12 song, leaving us next Anyone have any idea which song from the real album will be leaving us first??!

#12 was the very clear last-place contender from the real album... It was in #12 for the entire submission process!! Would have easily been last-place if not for the bonus track!

Don’t go in the summertime. It’s too hot, and the rooms are high. But if you go in the fall you’ll have a ball. There’s so much to see and do When you’re in love.

"When You're In Love" was at #12 for the entire submission process, which is pretty interesting! It did get a top 5 rank from gonecountry, who is probably getting way too used to losing his top songs early in these rankdowns :( I, along side castleoblivion26, get my second perfect ranking in a row! For some reason, this song has never really clicked with me. I think it comes across as feeling like a good idea for a song, that was never actually fleshed out to its entirety. I was not surprised to see it do so poorly here, as most of this album is so strong that this cannot compare.

As many incredible songs as Dean Dillon wrote for George Strait through the decades, it is awesome to see them finally collaborating with each other! However, I personally wish that they had chosen a collaboration that was a little more...memorable? I don't know what it is, but something about this song makes me always completely forget about its existence. I literally never think about it. I don't particularly dislike it when I'm listening to it, but I also don't ever feel like listening to it again. Other than switching with the #10 song a couple times, this song was pretty much always on pace to finish where it did as well. I'll take that third perfect ranking in a row!

2/3 perfect rankings to start off ain't bad! I'm not surprised "When You're in Love" landed in the bottom 3. I'm one of the higher ranks for it with my #8, but I'm still not a big fan of it. Most of the songs I ranked in the 7-11 range were pretty interchangeable for me. All good but a sizable step below my top 6 which are fantastic. OTOH, my bottom 2 are just awful.

No surprises for me so far.
My #12 & 13 are singles so I expected them to make the top half of the album tbh.
Given that the songs that are out have gone in the exact order I have them.

Been in the saddle since the sun came up, Roundin’ up strays in this ol’ west Texas dust. She’s been packin’ her things since I put coffee on. By sundown, she’ll be gone.

If I’m correct “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven” was recorded by George first and was supposed to be on the album but for whatever reason they decided not to include it and George sent it over to Kenny because he thought the song would suit his style better. They also probably opted to stick with “River of Love” over this song and that’s another reason it was passed up on.
“When You’re In Love” has always felt a bit too lovey-dovey for my taste and with lyrics like But if you go in the fall, you'll have a ball the song just falls a bit flat.
I’m not surprised to see “West Texas Town” out so soon but I’ve always really enjoyed it as it’s a fun Western swing tune that I know George enjoys doing. Speaking of I’m still hoping George makes a Western swing album someday as he’s mentioned it’s something he’s always wanted to do. I can see him doing something like that a few years down the road maybe closer to when he’s 70.
I wish I liked “If Heartaches Were Horses” more but I just find the song to be a tad bit humdrum and I’ve always found myself skipping over it the most of any song on Troubadour.
I don’t listen to “It Was Me” often but when I do something about the way George sings the song always pulls me in and makes me want to listen. Not only that but I think it’s very well written and has a great melody.

Oh I spoke too soon, thought my #8 would've went out next.
"If Heartaches Were Horses" was a stand out for me from the day the album came out, just really enjoyed that one.
"It Was Me" was a favorite going into the album as I loved it from Jamey Johnson's album, it fit George so perfectly as well and I have a hard time choosing which of the two is my favorite version.
