Two lovers at a table; candlelight and wine. One’s lookin’ for an answer the other one can’t find. “Give me more time. You gotta give me more time.” She says, “You know I love you, but my heart’s in a bind. Afraid you’re gonna leave me if I don’t make up my mind. Give me more time. I gotta have more time.”

Bowing out at #8, we say goodbye to ClevelandRox's #1, which also happens to be the first #1 loss of the rankdown. "Give Me More Time" was done dirty here, as it seemed on par to finish in the 5-7 range for most of the rankdown. #8 was its lowest placement, and it didn't settle into that position until the very last list pushed #7 ahead of it. This song is one of the most impactful lyrical moments on the album, with all the poignant examples of somebody struggling thanks to the lack of time... Despite my perfect ranking, I would have had no problem seeing this finish a tad higher.

"Give Me More Time" ended up doing about as well as I thought it would do and I'm happy to see it received a few additional top 5's along with mine. This has been a standout song for me ever since I first listened to the album and it's one that I still revisit now and then. The premise of the song has always resonated with me in so many different ways such as wishing I had been given a little more time to get back home before my mom took her last breath to wanting to spend just another moment with my father so that I can remember what it felt like to be hugged by him as kid. Even though the song isn't necessarily about any of that the idea of wanting just a little more time is an emotion we all have experienced at one point or another in our lives. Also, I have always loved the way George sings this verse below Two lovers at a table candlelight and wine, One's looking for an answer the other one can't find. She says "You know I love you but my heart's in a bind,” Afraid you're gonna leave me if I don't make up my mind.

I got a little ukulele. Let me sing you a song. Got a stream of kisses ‘bout ten miles long. Dancin’ on the water in the moonlight beach. Sparklin’ down through the sea of dreams.

I said, “If I did and she ever came back, Friend, tell me, how would she get in?
It would just be a prison that I locked you in. If you couldn’t leave, you’d never know if there was Someone that loved you the way that she didn’t before. If there’s two things that I know for sure, It’s that you can’t make a woman feel somethin’ she don’t, And you can’t build a house with no doors.”

"Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song" has always been in the running for being my favorite album track that George put out in the '00s. This song absolutely slays! It's so incredibly catchy, and the lyrics are pretty clever. It feels just like a classic George Strait song, in every sense of the word. The fact that this was never a single has always been a tragedy to me. I have always wished this had been released instead of "River of Flops". It would have been a MUCH less polarizing note to end the album era on.

Well, the house of Cash just burned down All the way to the cold, hard ground. The gawkers came from all over town To see the memories scattered all around.

With "House Of Cash" leaving us, we say goodbye to the highest-finishing album track, meaning we have yet another battle between the hits for the winning song! "I Saw God Today" vs. "Troubadour"

Just walked down the street to the coffee shop. Had to take a break. I’d been by her side for eighteen hours straight. Saw a flower growin’ in the middle of the sidewalk, Pushin’ up through the concrete Like it was planted right there for me to see. The flashin’ lights, the honkin’ horns All seemed to fade away. In the shadow of that hospital at 5:08, I saw God today.
2. "I Saw God Today"
Track #6 Runtime: 3:23 Songwriters: Rodney Clawson, Wade Kirby, Monty Criswell
Placement in the Singles Rankdown: #35
Well, the truth about a mirror Is that a damned old mirror Don’t really tell the whole truth. It don’t show what’s deep inside, Or read between the lines. And it’s really no reflection of my youth.
1. "Troubadour"

"Troubadour" is the one George Strait song that I straight up dislike. The lyrics are great, and I don't hate it like I used to, but my gosh is it a musical clunker. I knew I'd do awful in this RD lol, not my fav album and I figured this would win. Meh. Thanks for hosting tho bboat11

Yay @ "Troubadour" winning! One of my favorite George Strait songs of all time.

Dang I was hoping for "House Of Cash" to take out "I Saw God Today". At least it hit #1 when my list came in!

Yes! It Just Comes Natural is an album I've been looking forward to putting on repeat for quite some time! There's a chance that I'll be earlier than usual in that regard.
I'll still give #7 a spin, though. ;)

Yes! It Just Comes Natural is an album I've been looking forward to putting on repeat for quite some time! There's a chance that I'll be earlier than usual in that regard. I'll still give #7 a spin, though. #7 should be an easy album for everyone to rank considering it checks in at a modest 28 minutes I never got the chance to come back around to comment on the top 5 reveals for Troubadour so I wanted to share a few notes about the songs... "House With No Doors" - This one came as a surprise as I wouldn't have expected for it to sneak inside the top 5 considering I put it at #11. Don't let that ranking fool you though because I think this is one of those clever songs that George does so well and I really enjoy singing along with the chorus...it just so happens I don't come back around to revisit this song much so because of that it fell towards the bottom of my rankings. "Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song" - Even though this song didn't make my top 5 I'm not at all surprised or disappointed to see it make it in as it was an early standout for me when the album first came out. Had I ranked this album a couple of years ago I likely would've ranked this song higher, but for whatever reason I don't quite enjoy the song as much I used to. It's still a great two-steppin' song that my foot always wants to tap along with! As for the final 3 it came as no surprise that "House of Cash" made it in as well as the standout singles "I Saw God Today" and "Troubadour". Prior to any of the George Strait rankdowns I had always thought that ISGT would come out on top but "Troubadour" has thus far won out each time in his artist rankdown and now this one. Looking forward to the next set!!

I'm just going to bump this thread to let people know that I have chosen to push the deadline for the next set back a week. So it now says June 8 instead of June 1. Reba's next album will be due on June 1 instead. I figured it just made sense to squeeze her in ahead of George since it's only one album compared to his two

Really waiting with bated breath to see these two rank downs. I’m not sure we’re going to have complete alignment. Two really good - but different albums.
