Both of y'all are gonna pay for that... Evidently if I don't like the same songs as someone else, that makes me a bad person? Peace out... I would just like to point out that being compared to LBTrocks is the furthest thing from an insult! He is a fantastic person who leads a successful life, has an amazing sense of humor, and obviously cares about the people in his life. And every once in awhile he chooses to hold opinions that are vastly different from everyone else, but we love him anyway He also dislikes "Independence Day", and I know for a fact that you would never hold an opinion that was THAT level of floppy... I'm sorry to hear about your neighbor, I hope everything is okay! Oh you're gonna love me in the 94 RD.... I treated this song very well. Top 30.

1) What will be #1? "It Just Comes Natural” is my long-standing favorite
2) What will be #15? "Texas Cookin'"
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? “Give it Away”, “I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore", “It Just comes Natural”, "He Must Have Really Hurt You Bad" and “That’s My Kind of Woman”
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: "How Bout them Cowgirls" Least: "Give It Away"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Give It Away, It Just Comes Natural, Wrapped, How 'Bout Them Cowgirls) "Give It Away" or “It Just Comes Natural” at #1
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? "Give It Away" and the title track are definitely top 5. "Cowgirls" I’m thinking is the wild card
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore" in the top 3
8) Any predictions for which 5 album tracks will place highest, making it into the album tracks rankdown??? "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore," "He Must Have Really Hurt You Bad," "That’s My Kind of Woman” for sure
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? This is such a good album that the opinions will greatly vary

1) What will be #1? I think the Pulse favorite "It Just Comes Natural" has the best chance at winning, but "Give It Away" did almost make the top 10 in the singles rankdown so I wouldn't be surprised to see that one win either 2) What will be #15? I'm going to go against the grain and guess something different...I think "Come On Joe" will come in last with "What Say" and "Texas Cookin'" in bottom 3 3) Which songs belong in the top 5? I actually think all four of the singles belong in the top 5 so that would leave one album track sliding in which means it might be "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore" or something like "Why Can't I Leave Her Alone" 4) What song will be most polarizing? "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls" Least polarizing? "It Just Comes Natural" 5) Which of the singles will place highest and where will it place? "Give It Away" and "It Just Comes Natural" in the top 3 6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? The singles always usually find their way into the top 5 so I'm not counting on it, but "Cowgirls" or "Wrapped" could just miss the cut and come in at #6 7) What will be the highest-placing album track and where will it place? Probably "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore" with a chance at making the top 5 8) Any predictions for which 5 album tracks will place highest, making it into the album tracks rankdown? "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore", "Why Can't I Leave Her Alone", "That's My Kind of Woman", "One Foot in Front of the Other", and hopefully "A Better Rain" makes it in 9) Any other thoughts/predictions? This would be one of four albums that George recorded at Shrimpboat Studios in Key West and I think it brought a new level of energy into the recording process for George and everyone involved. This album truly is one of his masterpieces and I when I first heard it I remember thinking "Damn, George has still got it!". I think the rankings for the album tracks and some of the singles including "Wrapped" and "Cowgirls" are going to be quite varied. I still hear all four of the singles from this album regularly so that's another testament to the strength of the album overall. And while I'm expecting to see the album track "Texas Cookin'" come somewhere at or near the bottom it's personally one of my favorites because it's one of those tunes that you can get a glimpse into George's sense of humor and his laid back style. That's probably one of the most played album tracks I also here locally...but then again I do live in Austin

Sorry I didn't start this today; my dad has bought a new house, and we just got the keys a couple days ago!!! However, before we can move in, we have decided to completely repaint the inside..... So today, I literally painted every ceiling in the house... #tallpeopleexpectations... It was a busy day, and I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to move tomorrow with how sore my shoulders are tonight, but I'm gonna have to try, because now we have to paint all the walls! Funny story though; I brought my bluetooth speaker to the new house, because of course we need jams while we work. And today I cranked up the It Just Comes Natural album because it is a frickin' incredible album. Anyway, "Texas Cookin'" came on, and about halfway through it, my dad yelled from the other room, "This isn't one of George's better songs..." I thought that was very timely considering .indulgecountry 's sentiments on that song

You're right, "Texas Cookin'" isn't one of George's better songs...but it's serious fun...that's all, just fun. Sometimes just a bit of mindless brain candy is just what you need to get through the day. Now, to be fair, GS could sing my grocery list and I'd sit there and listen. And I do have my favorites and this isn't one of them...curious to see where all these will fall in the rankdown and whether my quirkalicious tastes skew the results.

There's been some recent George "Texas" songs I've wanted to love but have been my last place, Texas Cookin' wasn't one of them! Like mamasaid, it was just a really fun song. It's still in my bottom half though. However, I can't wait for Somewhere Down in Texas when a Texas song will finally be my #1

Bowing out first, we have a song that nobody seemed to predict would finish low! "One Foot In Front Of The Other" is a catchy uptempo, but I have always found that all the other catchy uptempos on this incredible album are much better. This one tends to get lost in the shuffle for me, even though it is still a very solid song. I snuck it into my bottom 3; in fact I was one of four people to put it at #13! However there were three people who got a perfect ranking ( ClevelandRox , gonecountry , and Kanenrá:ke ). The highest rank for this song was a couple of #8s, so it was just never able to get enough support to escape last place. Looks like tim and .indulgecountry are already batting a 0 with their album track predictions!

This album only had two last place contenders. "One Foot In Front Of The Other" managed to be last for the entirety of the submissions after gonecountry's list. Before that point, however, the last place belonged to "Come On Joe". However, I will point out that while "Come On Joe" finished at 140 points, OFIFOTO finished at 144! So this battle proved to be quite close indeed! I was not at all surprised to see "Come On Joe" do poorly; partly because it was my own last place. Something about this song has always felt pretty "off" to me. The verses sound really good, and the lyrics set up some truly incredible imagery! But as soon as George launches into the chorus, the song falls apart. The chorus melody is annoying and repetitive, and overall is not nearly as well-written as the verses from a lyrical standpoint. tim was correct in guessing that this might finish bottom 3! Unfortunately, it wasn't quite last place, but at least it is out now. :)

Hmm, I was expecting to curl up in the fetal position and weep for this first set of reveals, but here I am...still standing! :o Something always felt off about "One Foot in Front of the Other" and "Come On Joe" to me, even after nearly a dozen listens to the album. Like tim, I too would've guessed "Come On Joe" would be last or close to it. However, I would've also predicted that "Texas Cookin'" would be one of the most polarizing songs here, if not the most polarizing, and I would be rooting for "A Better Rain" to do very well on the album track front.

Well this started off quite unexpectedly as I never would've guessed "One Foot In Front of the Other" to even be in the bottom 3. When the album first came out there were other uptempo songs that I preferred but as the years have gone by this song has aged well for me and it's one that I find myself revisiting more often than say "Why Can't I Leave Her Alone" which I expect to do quite well. So I guess considering that it wasn't a standout track for me back then I shouldn't be all that surprised that most of you ended up putting it at nor near the bottom. Still, I think "One Foot" is more in line with the type of songs George records and at least IMO would fit right in on albums such as Here for a Good Time or Twang if only because it reminds me of "Same Kind of Crazy."
"Come On Joe" on the other hand has always been a track that I skip over. The funny thing is it was George's wife Norma who I believe wanted him to record the song because it's long been one of her favorites.
I'm hoping "What Say" leaves sooner rather than later because that's always been another song I skip over, but I'm thinking "Texas Cookin'" might be cooked.

Right on cue, "What Say" departs, rounding out the bottom 3. This song was pretty much always destined to finish where it did, as the entire submission process saw it flopping around between #13 and #14. Ultimately it was able to get enough support to outlast the bottom 2. This song isn't even remotely close to bad, imo. This is just an example of how strong the album is! I love this song as much as I do just about any of the songs in my top 5, and yet I myself put it outside my top 10... I do love the rather unique lyrical perspective of a couple vowing to stay together in the face of all these relationships around them that are crumbling. It's a sentiment that is not written about very often, but literally everybody has that thought when they are in a relationship of their own... Lol

After three strait eliminations from the bottom of the album, we now jump to the other half! Track 2 bows out at #12, as "She Told Me So" leaves us. Imo y'all did this song hella dirty, but then again even I barely put it in the top 10! Again, this album is just SO good...
This song has fascinating lyrics, because it offers the same tongue-in-cheek approach of a song like "Ocean Front Property", where the juxtaposition between what the narrator is saying and the way that reality works proves that the narrator is being incredibly sarcastic. But whereas OFP is a classic song about a man dealing with his lingering feelings after a breakup, in this case the man is still in a relationship and lamenting how foolish he is to keep believing the lies that his lady is telling him. The song is very simple, but very catchy. Also, it happens to be a George Jones cover! George Strait's version is so much better though... Lol

Well, I know a man that cooks armadillo. Tastes so sweet, he calls it pie. I know a woman who makes pan dulce. Tastes so good, it gets you high. Get them enchiladas greasy, Get them steaks chicken fried. Sure do make a man feel happy. Seein’ white gravy on the side.

And there it is... Lmao I don't even know what to say about "Texas Cookin'". I guess first of all, since I am not from Texas, I probably don't completely "get" it. I do know that Texas as a whole is way more pretentious about their state than literally any other state, and it gets a little tiresome hearing people from Texas being like, "Our food and music is better than anywhere else, just because we're from Texas." I hear this song and I'm like, who the hell would ever eat armadillo, let alone boast about it being so good?! However, the song is obviously meant to be fun, and it would no doubt be killer in a live setting, especially in a bar or something! However, I think for me it is one of those songs that just does not work as well in a studio setting. On an album, it feels ridiculous. Plus this album is just SO stinkin' good, there is very little to complain about, which makes it even easier to complain about this song... Lol It definitely had its fair share of support though! It did receive 8 top 10 votes! They were mostly all the back half of the top 10, but LBTrocks does become the very first person to lose a top 5 in this rankdown

“What Say” is the one song on IJCN that I can never make it through and always skip over. The highpoint of the song is the chorus but otherwise it just kind of plods along and doesn’t go anywhere. I really just find the song dull and boring which I rarely ever say about a Strait song. “Texas Cookin’” lasted a lot longer than I was thinking it might and while it had its share of detractors I’m also glad to see I wasn’t even the highest ranking participant (that belonged to LBTrocks !). Yes, us Texans are quite proud but I definitely wouldn’t use the word pretentious (well, unless you live in Dallas than you most likely are). I can see why it might appear that way for those who have never visited the Lone Star State, but things really are just better down this way And what a strong top 10! Had the album been narrowed down to just ten songs it probably would’ve been those songs that made the cut. I think the first few songs to leave might include “A Heart Like Hers”, “He Must Have Really Hurt You Bad”, and maybe either “A Better Rain” or “That’s My Kind of Woman”.

I heard "Texas Cookin'" and it instantly went to the bottom of my list. It's just such a ridiculous song and on an album this strong, I figured it would be a popular pick for last place. I'm really surprised that so many people like it. Yes, us Texans are quite proud but I definitely wouldn’t use the word pretentious (well, unless you live in Dallas than you most likely are). What a pretentious Texan thing to say tho.

How could anybody break a heart like hers? I can’t stand to watch her hurt. I would gladly take his place If she’d just love me that way. He must not know what it’s worth. I don’t understand how anyone could break A heart like hers.

"A Heart Like Hers" is such a great song :'( It pains me to see it leave this early! The lyrics are so interesting in the way they describe somebody feeling pain as they watch a stranger dealing with a bad relationship, and the chorus is so unique and catchy. This has always been one of my favorites on the album. And yet, I was only able to rank it as high as #7, so again, damn strong album!!
As this song leaves, it also becomes the final album track to miss out on the album tracks rankdown! I am so sad to see it miss, but then again the five album tracks that are left are absolutely perfect, so I literally can't complain... Lmao

"That's My Kind Of Woman" has this dark, somber vibe to it that I just cannot get enough of. Not to mention this musical arrangement/production job is one of my favorites of George's entire career. Tony Brown did an incredible job with this song!
The lyrics may be a little vague and generic, and the melody is somewhat nondescript, so I can see where people might find this one to be a tad boring. But I was shocked to see it get as many sub-top-10 votes as it did!

Time for a new page! Coming up at #8, TWO people finally lose their #15!! Somebody else loses a #2... It is definitely a polarizing song, but only the 3rd-most polarizing song on the album.
