It's a quiet little place tucked away in the hills, Where a crystal clear lake makes it crystal clear That there's not another living soul for miles and miles around.

Leaving us first is "That's Where I Wanna Take Our Love", which is probably not a surprise to anybody at all. Imo it is still a pretty solid song, with beautiful and picturesque lyrics. However, this song is very subdued and slow on an album that otherwise has a lot of catchy melodies and clever hooks, and in the end it just cannot compete with any of that. It was the only song to occupy last place. More than half of us put it in last place on our own lists. It wasn't totally panned though, as it did pick up a couple of top 5 ranks from gonecountry and fearlessarrow. That wasn't enough to even attempt to save it though. They could have both put it at #1 and it still would have finished in last place

Oh, also tim tells me that this is one of the songs that George always performed live when this album was current I guess it must be one of George's favorites. Out of all the catchy uptempo songs on the album though, THIS song is the one that gets done live? Really George?

Now that the obvious last place song has left, the pain truly begins from here!!!! #9 also got pretty stuck by the end of submissions, but after that one, the entire rest of the album was all over the damn place!!!!

Goodness gracious who the hell is keeping “4 Minus 3 Equals Zero” alive? That one was not good - which is rare for George since even on his bad days his music seems to be at least decent.

We know we're in for a painful rankdown when the album track that tim claims he wants to see do the best ends up almost being in last place... "That's The Truth" is an amazing song, with that deliciously country "That's a lie, and that's the truth" hook being a shining example of why I love George as much as I do. And yet I had to put it at #9... :'( That's just how much I love this album! This is an A+ song, and could have been a great hit if it had been released. I would have liked to see this one do better, but it falls a full 11 points shy of #8, which means its position was pretty much guaranteed. Now we are approaching the point where results are all over the place!!!! Starting at #8, all of the remaining songs were within a point or two of each other for almost the entire submission process. It led to almost every song from here on out having huge jumps with each individual submission. It was really interesting to watch! Every song from here on out was a top 5 contender in some capacity :)

"Peace Of Mind" unfortunately bows out next, taking with it a whopping SIX top 5 placements, including four #3s. This song proved to be pretty polarizing, picking up a slurry of lower ranks throughout the submissions, to the point where each high rank pretty much ended up being cancelled out. This forced it to stay in place while other songs with lots of high ranks built up a lead ahead of it.
I don't really see what there is to hate about this one, because it sounds like a breezy feel-good summer song to me. But something had to be low I guess, and it would've hurt no matter what it was at this point...

I'm gonna stop here for a bit and let people lick their wounds, lol. Yea this one isn't going quite so well for me...anyways on with some thoughts. Oh, also tim tells me that this is one of the songs that George always performed live when this album was current I guess it must be one of George's favorites. Out of all the catchy uptempo songs on the album though, THIS song is the one that gets done live? Really George? Yup this was one of three album tracks I remember George singing on this tour which would've been his second annual Country Music Festival that he took out onto the road (Tim McGraw was with him on this leg plus the Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney, Jo Dee Messina, Mark Wills, and Asleep at the Wheel). This show also remains one of my least favorite concerts by George as the set list was too heavy on new songs from ANTS and it didn't help that he kicked the show off with "There Stands the Glass" which few in the audience seemed to be familiar with. Anyways, while "That's Where I Wanna Take Our Love" is fine as an album track it's a bit of snoozer in a live stadium setting. It also should be noted that Keith Whitley originally cut this song and it was on his Kentucky Bluebird album from 1991. I am quite disappointed that "That's the Truth" couldn't escape the bottom 3, but again I know that this type of song doesn't quite resonate with the Pulse audience overall. I've always loved the structure of this song and it's very well suited for George's style. I do wish "Peace of Mind" had performed a bit better, but again I did expect this song to be a bit polarizing which it came in as the second highest. This was an instant favorite of mine when I first listened to the album and is still a go-to track from me that I put on from time to time (it also makes for a great road tripping song!). This was also one of the tracks that George performed out on tour that year and was received a bit better overall from the audience.

Several people will be disappointed to see that our title track bows out next. This is one that a lot of people have viewed as a missed single opportunity. It is definitely short and catchy, and right in George's wheelhouse. I have always personally considered this one to be a bit more of a filler song compared to all the other short and catchy songs on this album, but that doesn't mean it isn't still fantastic. Would have made a great single!
Seven people put this in their top 5, and it wasn't even put in anybody's bottom 2, but that was still not enough to get it to be a top 5 contender. That says a lot about the overall strength of this album, tbh!

The next song has every rank between #2 and #10, and yet did not manage to be one of the most polarizing songs on the album What do you think about that?

The first single from the album leaves us at #6, with "What Do You Say To That". This song has kinda been forgotten in the grand scheme of George's career, but imo it was a solid single choice. That chorus is really catchy!! Imo the biggest problem with this song is that it takes awhile to get going. For some reason the fact that they used an upright bass on this song just makes the entire arrangement seem really boring when the song first starts. Of course by the time the first chorus happens I'm fully invested, and then love the rest of the song. Ultimately them using the wrong type of bass is a minor complaint 😂

This is one of the few album rankdowns of George’s that just hasn’t really been going my way at all! But, I’m honestly not surprised by the top five as I expected both “Write This Down” and “Meanwhile” to make it in along with “I Look at You” and “One of You”. The only song I wouldn’t have guessed to make it was “4 Minus 3 Equals Zero” as I guess I thought a song like that wouldn’t be so well liked, but I’m not complaining because despite my own ranking it’s a great track.
I was really hoping that the title track would make it in, but again not to sound like a broken record I wasn’t expecting it to. This was the third album track that George sang out on tour back in 1999 and it’s one that I’ve grown to like more and more with time. I don’t think it was ever really a big favorite of mine back when the album was first released, so if it was a song that y’all just heard for the first time I can understand the lack of support it received. Nevertheless, it’s a go-to jam for me now from the album.
“What Do You Say to That”, however, is the one song from the album that I actually like less as time has gone by. Which is surprising actually because it was one of my favorites back when I first heard the album and I can’t help but think that they went with this as the third single because it was a fan favorite then. The one big memory I have for this song now is that George performed it sans guitar at the CMA’s that year (which he’s only done a few other times). David Ball also covered this song that same year from an album he released, but I’m still partial to George’s version.
