2 Chainz just teased a video for Rule the World. Really hope that becomes a hit.

I don't see "Please Me" reaching a new peak off the video — it looks as cheap as the song sounds and is objectively worse than the "Money" video. Locals really ate that video up huh

I can't believe people think this crop of #1's is bad. It's certainly better than Drakefest 2018. Nice For What is better than every single #1 of 2019 so far.

While I agree with that The diverse #1's of this year is better as a whole Well that and God's Plan was subpar at best, yet it was #1 of the year So 2019 seems to be winning by default

With this Jonas comeback, imagine what a One Direction comeback would do to the charts which I can easily see happening.

^I'm surprised Taylor's #2 in the list. Also, Adele at #7. Neither is known as a streaming powerhouse.

So is Katy Perry & Zedd gonna promote 365 or nah? I mean, the songs been out for almost a month now you'd think they'd do something, a performance or something, I don't know. It just makes sense from a marketing perspective, cuz there's no hype around the track aside from slight radio but that's beginning to slow down.
It just sucks to see such a great track not perform well, unfortunately Nothing Breaks Like A Heart didn't catch on like I wanted it too, this being killed as well would suck.

Uptempo songs always feel bigger because one can hear them at parties and radio hammers them. Then there are songs like Let It Go and Shallow that sell bucketloads and resonate with people without those two on their side.

Hello broke the Spotify records upon release, VEVO record upon release, and broke radio records. See You Again broke the VEVO record, broke radio records, and broke Spotify records. Similar cases with All of Me, When I Was Your Man, Someone Like You, etc. A song can be non-uptempo and do well on streams/sales. Shallow is huge, it just wasn't as big as songs like Can't Stop the Feeling [in America]. There is no need to pretend so.

Well Shallow is #1 on its 22nd week on chart but whatever. It's not always about breaking records.

It also ruined Justin Timberlake’s career, while Shallow did the opposite for Gaga, so we’ll see. Filthy (bad lead single), Say Something (bad 2nd single), and Man of the Woods (bad album) in addition to some bad press, and his general fading relevance regardless ruined his career; not Can't Stop the Feeling. His entire career launched from singing cheesy bubblegum-Pop in a boyband, his demographic isn't going to lose respect or be outraged over him doing a one-off Kids Soundtrack song. Drawing back to the point though, CSTF! is either 5x or 6x Platinum eligible (certified 4x Platinum over two years ago). Shallow's only at 2x Platinum eligible currently, so yeah, I'm not closest to a fan of JT, but it was just bigger as of currently.

It's last saving grace is radio.... Out of the spotify US & global 200..
#200 on most viewed youtube videos of the past 24 hours Low on itunes too... it's a good song - strange it performed so poorly

I'm not in America but I would imagine "Shallow" feels bigger for Europeans, it was a UK #1 when it came out (and not only after the Oscars) and instantly became a radio hit. That being said, it is by no means bigger than "every number one of the last few years" - and yes, "Can't Stop the Feeling!" was muuuuuch bigger.
"One Dance", "Cheap Thrills", "Closer", "Shape of You", "Despacito", "Perfect", "Havana", "God's Plan", "Girls Like You", "Thank U, Next" - all way bigger than "Shallow", in my humble opinion.

Also I fricking love 2019 #1's. If "Please Me" makes it after "Sucker" that'd be the bees' knees.

I wonder how Please Me is going to carry on after Monday when the effect/boost from it's video kicks in. The song has been quite underwhelming on streaming platforms and I don't think it's video will be one of those that keeps servicing enough streams after a week or two at the most.
I'm sure Cardi's team hoped it'd be a bigger success since they had the video shot and ready to go before the song itself was released.
I still think Cardi dropped the song too early in the year, but I think it would have performed like this either way just off Bruno not being a draw on streaming sites at all and Cardi not being a FORCE herself. Hopefully, it peaks in the top 3 on Monday's update, at least.
