Are we forgetting how little longevity meme songs usually have already? When IMF blew up last year and was breaking records, some swore up and down that it'd challenge despacito but we know what happened.
I'm thinking 4 or 5 weeks max before the novelty wears off

I'm thinking 4 or 5 weeks max before the novelty wears off Yeah I have no idea why people are being so quick to claim BIGGEST SONG 4EVERERERERER!!!!! on only its first week at #1. Literally anything can happen between now and several weeks down the road. And the evidence of that is in the same damn song we're talking about. Five weeks ago, no one would have dared thought this would be going #1 with monstrous streams and surprisingly great sales and airplay. And as quickly as this came, it can just as easily quickly go. Or it could stay around and in fact be a record breaker. It has the same chance of doing either thing as trends and stats to determine something that far out don't exist yet. Likewise, on the other side, we can't easily say this will be gone in a few weeks either. No one saw the longevity of 7 rings coming with the weakness of the top sections of the chart. Something similar could happen here. 2019 has already given us unexpected and by the skin of their teeth number ones from Halsey, Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper, Jonas Brothers, and Post Malone/Swae Lee and the unexpected lengthy reign of 7 rings. I think it's safe to say that the charts this year are wild, so now more than ever we shouldn't be claiming a song that's just now reach #1 as a record breaking contender. |

OTR may only last 4 to 5 weeks with the high streams but after that radio will help it Radio is not behind this song at all compared to In My Feelings, and IMF stalled at #3 on airplay before free falling. I doubt Old Town Road will have a lengthy radio run, wouldn't mind if it did tho |

Somewhere between 70-90M+?
What about sales also?
I doubt it's passing 100K+ but 50K+ would be nice.

I doubt it's passing 100K+ but 50K+ would be nice. iTunes: the remix is dominating like Sucker in its first week, so I'd say 85k for the BRC version and 27k for the original version = 112k Streaming is much harder to predict and we only have one day of YouTube - still the only streaming service where songs reach 7M+ streams per day (OTR got 7.7M this Friday) - but I have OTR at 43.8M this week (April 13) so I'm expecting its streams to at least double for the April 20 chart (90-100M is possible). 112k downloads + 90M streams = ~70k points Important before y'all use this against me: it's Sunday, almost five days before the end of the sales/streaming tracking week, so the margin of error is big. |

Gangnam Style was a meme song and it had oddly amazing longevity. It depends on how Old Town Road travels through different demographics. Just because it's huge now, doesn't mean everyone has heard it. Right now it's with the trendsetters and early adopters. It still has a lot of life and it's the type of song that everyone can potential grab on to in some ways. At least 10 weeks.

Without any major release on the way, OTR can easily spend more than 10 weeks at #1. Longevity (IMO a song that spends 40+ weeks on the Hot 100) might not be in the cards, but it would still be a win for anyone involved.

I don't know, I see Old Town Road having better longevity than In My Feelings. It's a lot catchier, that song took like a month to grow on me while OTR was instant.
