Old Town Road certified Diamond, it's the fastest song to reach that milestone.

Old Town Road certified Diamond, it's the fastest song to reach that milestone. RIAA.com lists it as still only being certified 3x platinum. It's fully eligible for Diamond, but where are you seeing that it was actually certified?

You really don't want to replicate the circumstances under which that song re-charted. And frankly, it's a terrible song. Just awful. This isn't an anti-American thing, I'm Canadian but still get a lump when America, The Beautiful or God Bless America is performed well.Β "I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free." Like the US is the only free country in the world. It's a pretty awful song, but nothing compared to the likes of "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue." What do you mean? What's so bad about We'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist And the eagle will cry cause there's gonna be hell When you hear mother freedom start ringing her bell And you know the whole wide world is raining down on you Oh brought to you courtesy of the red, white, and blue :kii:

Retro Hot 100 - 8 Years Ago Katy Perryβs will-be Independence Day favorite "Firework" spends what is looking like its 36th and possible final week on the chart. However, the pairing of the song with the timing of the holiday will extend its chart life by 3 more weeks (1 of which it returns to the top 40 with a bullet). Itβs as if we save it from its impending chart death every year around the time it died, which just happens to be around July 4th. Illuminati? Great work as always. Just wanted to point out that this chart is also just a couple weeks before Katy's "Last Friday Night" (at #4 here) shot to #1 and tied Michael Jackson's record of most number-ones off of one album.
I believe the most anyone has ever done since then is Drake, Taylor Swift and Adele (3 #1s each).

I wish there was a way to get certified without actually paying and submitting a request, that way things would be more up to date. RIAA lists only 10 songs released this year as "platinum" and doesn't list any Ariana Grande songs in that list when "7 rings" is easily one of the top songs of the year, with "Break Up" and "NASA" both eligible for platinum. The album is credited as the only platinum album of the year, when it is already eligible for 2x Plat.

Mac Miller - Donald Trump, 2011 is a very unfortunate phrase to read in 2019

I think the RIAA is an absolute joke. I hope another company gives them a run for their money

This especially becomes an issue when artists leave their label, and their new one doesn't have the rights, or the artists don't. At that point, it is unlikely their material will be certified. As for paying for it, I'm sure it costs the RIAA money to access the sales data and keep their database, so they need to make money somehow.

If you feel this way, imagine how I feel as a Drake fan. Nonstop, Don't Matter to Me, Emotionless, Elevate, Mob Ties I'm Upset, 8 Out of 10 are all eligible for Platinum certification. God's Plan/In My Feelings/Nice for What are all undercertified. Not to talk of the features he did last year that are undercertified, along with some older songs. All the songs off VIEWS and More Life are Platinum eligible, but are yet to all be certified. Scorpion is eligible for 5x Platinum certification and is only certified 1x Platinum, lol.

It looks like Post Malone & Ed Sheeran arr going to race for #1 next week!!! You mean race for #2, right? I don't know why people are STILL playing themselves and setting themselves up for disappointment by still saying X song by X artist will debut at #1. Post Malone has never scored a #1 debut and he's had two songs in circulation since the year started. His new song will more than likely spend a long time in the top 10 (as his singles tend to do), though. At this point, I fully expect OTR to break the record for longest-running #1 Hot 100 song, barring any surprise massive hit release.

The whole certifications thing is just a technicality anyway. The songs are eligible for those levels, which is what matters. If an artist sells X amount, they qualify for whatever level theyβre at but whether they pay the fee or not, regardless of how much areyoureadytorun reminds them, they still reached that level. It hardly matters in the end. A million selling album is at the same level as a platinum certified million selling album.
