This will be the era’s Delicate, and it’s due to have some longevity. Added bonus that it has a Summerish sound and a Fall theme (speaking retrospectively of a bad summer).

Even if it doesn’t “smash”, it sets up her next era very well. Excited to see this play out. Knowing Tay, she already had a remix and video complete since December.

I would have preferred 'Afterglow' as a single but this is a fan favorite so, even if it flops, it will do its job by keeping fans engaged.

It sounds so good on radio honestly, especially during this weather. Like definitely her best sounding song on radio since 1989 I'd say.

Any disappointment in its performance will come down to the late release + the terrible choices prior. I really believe it would've been her biggest song since 1989 had it been lead.

Released a year ago, this would've slayed hard. It's hands down the best thing on the album, so if anything even has a shot at smashing a year later, it's this. We'll see if a remix breathes new life into this or if it's DOA like so many of her later singles over the years.

I almost want “Paper Rings” more...but I’m happy this is a single and good for her still releasing stuff a year later. Why not, right!? You don’t know unless you try. After seeing what happened with LIZZO, I believe anything can happen with music being released later or rereleased later. Rules can be broken. New rules can be made.

So there was one station that fell off the starters list + Sirius XM did dial back on their plays (although they don't count for any audience; they're down to 50 plays for the rolling 7-day period rather than 60+ they were doing until maybe 2 days ago) which is likely contributing to the spin loss here. WWWQ in Atlanta seems to have cut their plays too (7 versus 20 last week).

Honestly much like Delicate, this is one of those songs that can simply stand on its own...it's so catchy and radio wants to play Taylor Swift enough that I think it still has a decent shot at becoming a hit. Fingers crossed!

I just hope it brings some renewed attention to the album. I'm still amazed that an album THAT good by one of the worlds biggest artists just gets semi-ignored like that (everything is relative here, of course, most artists will never even get close to the succes of that album).
