OMG wait I got a perfect ranking for last place??! I honestly didn't even remember a single thing about this song, the fact that it exists, or the fact that I put it in last place, so I just had to listen to it again. Basically my big complaint with this one is that it sounds so incredibly dated, it was hard to find, the melody kinda plods, and honestly the rest of the list is just so strong! I still don't hate it or anything! "Good Morning Heartache" is one that I want to like more because of how great Lorrie's voice sounds in the opening lines of the song. But ultimately the fact that it is essentially a jazz song puts it easily near the bottom of my list. Vocal jazz is always really boring to me, regardless of how talented the vocalist is. I lose interest approximately 1 minute into this song, and the song never wins it back. "Two People In Love" is quite catchy, but it also just kinda sticks out in this list because it is SOOOO much more dated than the majority of her career. It also sounds like it was maybe recorded before Lorrie really had an identity as an artist. I really want to like "29 Again" more because it is a really interesting premise for a song. The lyrics are overall quite strong, and Lorrie's voice sounds absolutely perfect here. The only thing I don't like about this song is the "I'm 29 again....and holding" hook. The "and holding" part is sooooooo unnecessary and redundant, and really doesn't allow the listener to arrive at the wittiness of the hook on their own, when tbh it is a simple enough hook to understand. It really rubs me the wrong way, and I know that is really weird of me... Lol. But I swear, if the song had just gone "I'm 29 again..." it would have felt so much more effective to me, and I would have ranked it at least 10 positions higher. Because like I said, Lorrie's vocal is PERFECT here Her version of "Sleigh Ride" is really good! Glad to see it escape the very bottom few positions!!!

I would've liked to see "Sleigh Ride" do better, as her version is pretty much the definitive country version of it. Still, it did a little better than was to be expected.
Other than that, this is off to a pretty good start so far!

Let's reveal the next five songs so that we can dive into the top 40 later this evening! Coming in at #45 is a song with three bottom five rankings and a certain participant becomes the first to say goodbye to a top 10.

“The Color of Roses” was released as Lorrie’s first single for Image Entertainment in 2002 and is the title track from a two-disc compilation featuring live performances of both her hit singles and pop standards along with two studio recordings. This bounced around near the bottom of the list for most of its early run as it received three bottom five rankings from myself, someguy , and bboat11 along with a slew of mid top 40 placements. It was able to rebound somewhat, however, thanks to a near top 20 from @xfer and taylor is terrified who becomes our first participant to depart with a top 10.

“Us Girls” was released as the final single from Lorrie’s ninth studio album Show Me How. The song was co-written by Amy Dalley who had a minor hit in 2003 with “Men Don’t Change” and also co-wrote Reba McEntire’s single “My Sister”. This more or less remained in the mid 40’s during its run as it received more than a handful of rankings in that same range with only toomuchboy placing this in his bottom five. Both @xfer and taylor is terrified depart with a top 20 while someguy loses a top 25.

“I Am a Woman” was released as the second and final single from the Pam Tillis collaboration album Dos Divas. While not in the top ten of most polarizing songs the results were a mixed bag of sorts as it received a top 25, a few top 30’s, top 40’s, and even three bottom five rankings from ClevelandRox , someguy , and George Strait Junkie . And unfortunately for @xfer he becomes our first participant to say goodbye to a top five.

“Don’t Worry Baby” was released as the third single from The Beach Boys’ album Stars and Stripes Vol. 1 which included collaborations with the group and other country artists including Lorrie Morgan. Coming in as the 7th least polarizing song of the rankdown we still see a mixed set of rankings ranging from a bottom five from RobbyFlorida as well as a last place from .indulgecountry along with with two top 20’s from someguy and George Strait Junkie. The other placements were quite scattered, though, with a couple mid-level top 40’s and a slew of top 30’s.

“I Finally Found Someone” was released as the first single and title track from the Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw collaborative album released in 2001. The song is a cover of the Oscar nominated Bryan Adams and Barbra Streisand duet from the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces. Quite a few of you probably expected to see this one out at or near the bottom so it should come as no surprise then to see this exit. While George Strait Junkie loses a top 15 and @xfer a top 20, there wasn’t a lot of support for this one in the top tier of the lists as most of the rankings fell somewhere within the top 40 range. Both bboat11 and Kanenrá:ke see another bottom five exit, however.

I'm rather glad I'm the one who pulled "The Color of Roses" out of the bottom 5 as it is NOT deserving of such a rank. It very easily deserved a Top 10 placement. Beautiful, beautiful song.

I really like the Beach Boys song (it reminds me of Never Been Kissed ) but maybe her voice didn't suit it? Something felt SO OFF!

I'm rather glad I'm the one who pulled "The Color of Roses" out of the bottom 5 as it is NOT deserving of such a rank. It very easily deserved a Top 10 placement. Beautiful, beautiful song. I do wish I liked this song more, but it's quite different from anything Lorrie has ever done or recorded and I also find the song hard to get into. I can see the beauty in it, though, and I'm glad you liked it! I really like the Beach Boys song (it reminds me of Never Been Kissed ) but maybe her voice didn't suit it? Something felt SO OFF! I actually quite like this song and it started out much higher on my list, but it ended up falling back some if only because Lorrie's own output stands out more. I was a bit surprised to see it get some top 20 support, though, but I do think the song has its qualities. I'm about to get started on the top 40, but before I do I wanted to come back around to The Color of Roses and do an album spotlight for it even though it was a live release.

“Leavin’ on Your Mind” was released as the first single from Lorrie’s tenth studio album A Moment in Time and is a Patsy Cline cover that was originally released in 1963. This comes in as the tenth most polarizing song of the rankdown and see’s a loss of a top 10 from taylor is terrified as well as @xfer’s second top 5 loss. At the other end RobbyFlorida loses a bottom five while a handful lose a top 40 ranking along with a couple top 30’s.

“Come See Me and Come Lonely” is the title track to Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis’ second collaborative album that was released in November, 2017, and is the second lowest polarizing song of the rankdown. There was not one bottom five ranking for this song as the majority of us put this either in their top 30 or 40. taylor is terrified was the highest ranking participant as it landed just inside their top 25.

“To Get to You” is the title track to Lorrie’s second greatest hits compilation and was released as it’s only single. While this did receive some top 20 support from George Strait Junkie, castleoblivion26, and ClevelandRox, the majority of the rankings came inside the top 40 with only RobbyFlorida putting this down in their bottom 5.

A Moment in Time is a pretty good covers album. "Alright I'll Sign the Papers" is my favorite on that record. "Leavin' on Your Mind," however, is a rather dreary song no matter who sings it. Not really a fan.
