"Memories" is #12 on Spotify! It really is catching on and this time with no featured rap artist or viral music video to boost its streaming. Just as I thought Maroon Five will have a chart slump, they have proved me wrong again lol It’s the shirtless effect when men are shirtless in there mvs the song does well  lol |

There are only 10 chart weeks left in this calendar year. It will be interesting to see who claims the final number one song of the decade. Maybe Adele? Previous end-of-decade #1s are Jay-Z & Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" (the 00s), Santana & Rob Thomas' "Smooth" (the 90s), Phil Collins' "Another Day In Paradise" (the 80s), Rupert Holmes' "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" (the 70s), The Supremes' "Someday We'll Be Together" (the 60s), and Frankie Avalon's "Why" (the 50s). Keeping in the reflective spirit of songs like "Someday We'll Be Together" or "Another Day in Paradise", it would be poetic if a song like "Memories" closed out the decade. |

I remember all the thinkpieces in January about how Maroon 5 would never recover from the Half Time performance LMAO. And 8 months later here we are with them in the top 15 with a song with pretty good Spotify streaming 👌
Also if any artist can pull an outta nowhere release it's Adele so who knows? We'll find out in 24 hours

I wonder where Billie goes from here, since WWAFS, WDWG? is already at six singles. She could maybe push 'wish you were gay' with a music video but I think a sophomore album would be better. Hopefully, she doesn't wait as long as Lorde to start building hype.

The “Girls Like You” addition of Cardi B didn’t feel gimmicky because that was the single version. You *do* realize that Good as Hell's EP, Coconut Oil, has been out for 3 years, right? This is, just like Girls Like You, a feature-adding remix done for the single (re)release. Not really. Girls Like You remix was released as the actual single from the get-go. Good As Hell became a hit as is. This situation is more like the Last Friday Night, S&M, Perfect scenarios. |
