"Señorita" was written by Charli XCX, Ali Tamposi, Watt and Jack Patterson. It ended up being offered to Shawn Mendes, and he asked if Camila could do it with him. Camila and Shawn probably tweaked 5 words of the song between them and put their names on it. the song was intended to be part of the re-release of Shawn's eponymous album, alongside his #2 peaking single "If I Can't Have You." IIRC, "Señorita"s chart points on BB200 go towards Shawn's album, not Romance. if you manage to look at this objectively, which I know you will fail to do, you will see that "Señorita" does not fit in with the theme of Camila's album at all, because it simply was not a part of the creative process for her album. it's simply a pre-written song that Shawn got offered and Camila jumped on. ask anyone, Romance had two lead singles: "Liar" and "Shameless," both of which severely underperformed. "Easy," "Cry For Me" and "Living Proof" failed to chart at all. the only success of the album comes from "My Oh My," and even that raises lots of eyebrows. I saw another tweet today that had 20k+ likes about how weird it was for "My Oh My" to take over "Blinding Lights". people are curious. #45 on iTunes translates into, what, less than 1k sales per week? I wouldn't tout it if I were you. The real tea is that the song is barely top 100 on Spotify and barely top 200 on Apple Music. Her album Romance is #649 on Apple Music. To compare, Selena Gomez's Rare is #252, Halsey's Manic is #191, Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia is #50, her debut album from 2017 is #464. Ariana's Thank U, Next is #114. Sweetener is #259. Dangerous Woman is #379. Taylor Swift's Lover is #79. Should I go on? |

The streaming #'s were much better earlier in its run. It was doing great on both Spotify and iTunes from December to mid March then the #'s went down. It's not like this song never did well in sales and streaming.
