Lucid Dreams was added to Today's Top Hits, although at the very bottom of the playlist.

"Lucid Dreams" going number 1 would be so damn cool. It spent several weeks at number 2 and barely missed out, so this would rectify that. What is odd is that whether LD or AIWFCIY goes to #1, they will be the slowest climb to #1 ever (based on # of weeks on the Hot 100). How strange that one of the songs will achieve that and re-write chart history.

He just turned 21 a week ago. He's a child. It doesn't matter if it's his fault or not. Heβs not a child. Heβs able to vote, drink, drive a car, etc. We shouldnβt be celebrating someone who makes horrible decisions. You're just absolutely not a good human being at all. There is something deeply wrong with you and maybe you make correct decisions and seek help for it.

It'll be interesting if Lucid Dreams lingers long enough to make the 2020 year end. That'll make it one of the only songs to end up on 3 year-ends in a row. (I don't know if any other songs have done this)

Can't see any impact for his material going much further than this week. He was no Michael Jackson in terms of impact.
Are streams big enough for it to challenge #1? Airplay will be marginal at best.

Marie Fredriksson and Juice will split streams. Maybe this could help All I Want For Christmas Is You. This makes no sense at all and is stupid anyway. Stop

I donβt know whatβs worse in these threads. The constant jizzfest that is year end charts from January to November, the collective creaming that happens whenever an artist dies, or the new obsession over how Christmas is ruining charts.

Letβs get back on topic. I personally think that once AIWFCIY gets its #1 spot, Billboard needs a major change in its formula to prevent more Christmas songs from charting higher and killing the non-holiday songs chances to rise on the Hot 100. Thatβs my personal take. Sadly, I agree with this. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Mariah to score her 19th #1 with her most popular song ever (so fitting!), and break all sorts of records. But once that's done, I really don't look forward to the same songs charting again and again every holiday season, or even Mariah hitting #1 year after year. I love her to bits, but you can absolutely have too much of a good thing. But then thatβs not a true reflection of whatβs popular in a given week. Any song, no matter how old, should be able to chart of it earns enough points. It should be that simple.

I don't think it's that simple. I personally am not that angry at Christmas songs- they come and clog up the charts for a few weeks and then they all disappear in one week and everything else gets a boost. I don't think they should be included in year-end charts, however, since they aren't really indicative of the music of 2020, or 2021, or 2022 once Mariah's return becomes a regular thing.

Iβm sorry but that doesnβt make sense to me. If a song gains enough points to make it to a chart, any chart, then it is indicative of being that popular that year.

This thread is not at all in the Christmas spirit! A sad sign of the state of the world!

What makes year-end charts so special? They year-end charts the same as week charts other than they measure a larger period of time.

So you'd rather prefer the charts to be inaccurate. I don't mind older songs entering the charts again if that's what people are actually listening to.

This new song that just debuted by someone named Don Toliver is like a mediocre Swae Lee knockoff mixed with a mediocre Travis Scott knockoff

Possible dumb question: are the currently charting Frozen II soundtrack songs considered holiday songs? I don't recall "Let It Go" being considered as such. It's really easy to associate Frozen with Christmas, but I don't see how it could be considered Christmas/Holiday music if Old Town Road isn't country, ya know? It's holiday tangential at best.

Possible dumb question: are the currently charting Frozen II soundtrack songs considered holiday songs? According to Billboard, no. Otherwise, the Frozen II Soundtrack would be #1 on Holiday Albums

I don't think holiday songs should be banned from the Hot 100, but perhaps as a compromise older songs get a 4-5 week reprieve from recurrency? So if a song at 23 weeks and number 25 gets pushed to number 54 by holiday songs it gets to stay on the chart until the first tracking week of January. Although that seems like it would be hard to manage so maybe not...
