To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, effective immediately, this thread will be closed indefinitely.
Just kidding. But on a more serious note, I’m having to rework the 2013 and 2012 year end projections, which I do have more time to do with my classes cancelled this week, but I’m a bit unsure whether I’ll have both done by Saturday. If I can’t, then I’ll just upload the 2013 list as soon as both are done and I have time.

I did something like this for 2006 would it be ok to post it here? Probably not as accurate because there obviously isn't much data about that
How are you planning on doing everything pre-2014 when there were no predictions?

Probably not as accurate because there obviously isn't much data about that How are you planning on doing everything pre-2014 when there were no predictions? Yeah sure, I’m not planning to go past 2010 anyways. And as for your second question, I’m using my own data for everything going forward. It takes more work though, because I have to create an inverse system that actually matches most of the year end, which is especially difficult for 2013 and 2012 because on demand streaming was added in March 2012 and YouTube was added in March 2013. I can tell you right off the bat that the cutoff for 2013 is much lower than 2014, and 2012 is even lower than that. I’m also going back through all of the Billboard top 10 articles to gather as much data as possible and calculate the real points of as many songs as possible.

I think I like this one better if only because When You Were Young made the year end list as it should have. Songs that made the actual one and missed here
One Wish - #102 twice ouch
We Be Burnin' - made 2005 You And Me - made 2005 I Think They Like Me - made 2005... blecch Soul Survivor - made 2005 When I'm Gone - caught Hung Up - probably caught Stay Fly - made 2005 Feel Good Inc. - made 2005 I'm Sprung - made 2005 Songs from the beginning got dropped pretty hard because they lost 5 weeks. Additionally that part of the chart year was weak to begin with. Lol @ 3 #1 hits from 80-100

Here's 2007. One of the weirdest years because of a formula change leading to a massive skew towards songs at the start of the year so some truly insanely small songs made it # Actual Artist Title Points Pk Wks T10 1

Again this one is better just because it had Gimme More on the year end list, as it should have been. Songs that made the actual list and missed here: Lips Of An Angel - made 2006 Shortie Like Mine - made 2006 Promise - caught
Walk Away (Remember Me) - caught Wind It Up - caught Snow(Hey Oh) - caught :(
Money Maker - made 2006 Far Away - made 2006 That's That - caught love how there's 3 songs in a row from the previous year, this is a feature as well on the actual 2004 year end list that I was feeling kind of bad about maybe having to break up

"Big Girls Don't Cry" being the #1 song of 2007 is a concept, but a very welcome one, since I adore it. And yay at "Gimme More" making the Year-End! 😀
Otherwise, the changes are fairly small. I'm glad "I Wanna Love You" would have never made the top 10 of any Year-End under this scenario, but "Don't Forget About Us" 's drop from 50 to 88 is quite tragic, but at least it brought down the awful "Laffy Taffy" with it. 😄
Having "Hung Up" getting caught between years would be a real shame, though.

After pouring in nearly my entire week, I was able to finish the 2013 list on time. I don't have the 2012 list done, though I do have enough preliminary numbers to feel comfortable posting this list. If anything changes in terms of songs making the 2012 list, I'll edit it. But I'm gonna go ahead and post the 2013 list.

Please don't let "Blurred Lines" be the #1 song of the year. Please don't let "Blurred Lines" be the #1 song of the year. Please don't let "Blurred Lines" be the #1 song of the year.

Don't Forget About Us would have made the 2005 year end list as well (along with Laffy Taffy)

Please don't let "Blurred Lines" be the #1 song of the year. Please don't let "Blurred Lines" be the #1 song of the year. Please don't let "Blurred Lines" be the #1 song of the year. "Blurred Lines" is the #1 song of the year.

Having "Hall Of Fame" getting caught between years would be a real shame - I love that song.

Although BL and TS were #1 and #2, the song at #3, Radioactive, ended up as the biggest hit in the long run. Whereas BL and TS faded after their runs (like PRA), Radioactive continued to be relevant in the years after its run. Not only has Radioactive outsold BL and TS, it is tough to escape Radioactive, as you are likely to hear it from a marching band during a football game in the fall, or on the radio multiple times in a week. Radioactive is well on its way (if it has not already) to being a timeless classic.

"Thrift Shop" and Macklemore's career were unfortunately affected by the Grammy ceremony that year (even if it was not their fault at all, and they knew the award should have gone to one of the other nominees), while "Blurred Lines" is now known as an extremely problematic song in the light of #MeToo, not to mention all the copyright lawsuits it went through.

2005 year end top 100. This one gave me so much trouble, there's a lot that just doesn't make sense. I had to just subtract 100000 points from Hate It Or Love It because from my calculation it should have been #13 on the original year end list. I have no idea how Soldier finished as high as it did and came in just one spot behind Lovers And Friends and it's probably way too high here. All this is compounded by another one of the cursed boogie men of Billboard, the mid-year formula change. I think ultimately beyond the massive question mark of Soldier I'm pretty proud of how this turned out though. I'm also not entirely sure whether or not 1, 2 Step was on the 2004 year end list, I think it might be #100

2005 has to be the most bipolar chart year in the history of music. On one hand, we had unholy abominations like My Humps, The Whisper Song, Some Cut, Daughters and Play. On the other hand, we also get timeless classics like Mr. Brightside, Sugar Were Going Down, Gold Digger, Behind These Hazel Eyes and all three songs from Green Day’s 10/10 masterpiece American Idiot.

Gonna try and make a border and fix the formatting. Anyway as for what made the Dec-Nov one and not this one Made it in 2004: My Boo Lose My Breath Wonderful Too Weak: Number One Spot (101) Give Me That (103) Caught Between Years: Daughters Numb/Encore
I really wish 1, 2 Step had done its job and fallen out of the top 10 so Behind These Hazel Eyes could be there. It's already getting the possibility of another year end list! Greedy bastard

On the good end you had Bruno's three awesome hits, Can't Hold Us, Get Lucky, Wake Me Up, Don't You Worry Child, I Will Wait and many, many other great songs. But you also had U.O.E.N.O, Love Me, Blurred Lines and tons of other awful songs.

For someone who loves country so much, I’m a little surprised you forgot to mention the rise of bro country and the awful songs that trend brought with it (most notably, Cruise, Boys Round Here and especially That’s My Kinda Night). As for 2013 overall, while I agree that it’s a polarized year, 3 of my top 4 from the year got pulled onto the 2012 year end, which makes that year much stronger and 2013 weaker.

Would you update the 2008/2009 Year End Charts with the January-December criteria? I'm very interested to see how they turn out to be. Pretty sure I Gotta Feeling will become the #1 song with the January-December methodology (which, in my opinion, is more rightful to be than Boom Boom Pow), but I'm very curious to see how they would look like

^ I'll have that done sometime in the next two weeks. For future reference it's better to not quote 100 song lists if you can avoid it :)
