2002 is done I'll post it tomorrow (in about 12 hours). I had to do this before 2003 because there's three songs '03 Bonnie & Clyde, Landslide and Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip-Hop) that were all very borderline in 2002 and made the original 2003 list and so I wanted to establish if those would have made 2003 before I go ahead and do the 2003 list.
Also Nickelback is no longer #1 we can rejoice

I think Crazy In Love will stay ahead of Baby Boy but both will be top 10. Also I'm pretty sure with Jan-Dec they would have been Beyonce's only two top tens in the year end

However, due to the fact that I was 1 year old when Try Again came out, I truly underestimated how big of a hit that song was. Same for Miss You in 2003.

Idk what's next I'm very tempted to do 2001 because I wanna put Everywhere by Michelle Branch in its proper place on the year end list
2009 is still in progress, I guess I'm being a bit of a perfectionist about it because it's my favorite year of all time and also I'm enjoying working backwards I guess. I'm gonna stop at 1999 that's gonna be my last one

2003, the only time that anyone has ever cared about Trapt. Wasn't expecting song #100 to make it but I'm very happily surprised about that one 2003, the only time that anyone has ever cared about Trapt.  That was a nice dig at Trapt's Twitter rant regarding their streaming numbers and Pandora plays. Also, I'd be interested if you did 2001 next, then 2000, and the finish up with 2009. |

2003 was the year where Beyoncé propelled her solo career to international superstardom with the release of Dangerously In Love. Happy to see Crazy In Love still at #4 and, although I find it quite overrated, Baby Boy making the top 10 at #8. I think this is the best representation of how Beyoncé’s footprint was emblazoned in the music industry’s ground at the time.
Also, Mariah Carey was starting to rejoice, although her full Renaissance was in 2005, and Ja Rule was making its last steps in the music industry before falling into a black hole after the whole 50 Cent beef. 🍿

This is amazing! Is there a way you could add an extra column for a song's "total points"?
For example, Breakaway charted in 2 years and had 410110 points (2005) + 328874 points (2004) for a total of 738984 points - that would've been enough to hit top 10 in 2004 or 2005!

Some really interesting data here, great job
For example, I never knew that "The Way You Move" was Outkast's biggest hit, considering it hit #1 for 1 week and "Hey Ya" hit #1 x 9 weeks
The Way You Move: 993,540 (#1 x 1 week)
Hey Ya: 895,843 (#1 x 9 weeks)
Wow at "Eastside" having more points than "7 Rings" and "Thank U, Next" :O

Haven’t begun working on 2010. 2011 is wildly uneven. The first month was astoundingly strong (particularly in the top 20), while the last few months were equally weak for the bottom of the chart. Holding the points per position constant throughout the year produces an inaccurate chart no matter what those points are. |

He didn't - at least not with raw point totals (I think his uses the inverse method). It just gives you an appreciation for those "hidden" big hits - for example, I had no idea how big "Fergalicious" or "Eastside" really were without adding up their point totals Fergalicious - ~652,000 which is enough for #7 for 2007 - pretty surprising - more than "Glamorous" and "Girlfriend" which made top 10 - we wouldn't know that unless there's a column for total points though Just a thought :) |
