What is the next one coming up from you? I'm going to assume either 1999 or 2009 is next.

My predictions for 2011:
- Moves Like Jagger will end up being Top 5, instead of Firework - Someone Like You will end up being Top 10/15 - We Found Love would be in the top 30, for sure.

Back on the 2009 grind. No promises of a date though Yassss! Are we expecting surprises tho? I think the cutoff is gonna be lower? so there might be a song that makes the list and missed the original despite running in the middle of the year. It's hard to say at this point the chart year is chaos.
I'm first trying to figure out how the original list turned out the way it did. It seems as if throughout the year songs from 6-15 were generally very strong and songs higher or lower below average.
The fact that Say Hey (I Love You) finished as low as it did is inexplicable and causes all sorts of issues. It almost makes me wonder if it was a mistake. Does Billboard ever make mistakes I'm not sure

Actually I’m curious to see how songs like Just Dance, Love Story, Single Ladies (which made your 2008 YE) are going to be placed in the YE, and if I Gotta Feeling is going to be the well deserved #1 song of 2009.

Also I just realized something cursed which is that Nickelback now has 4 songs that made two year end lists (they'd previously only had one)

Alright I finally got point values for the original 100 songs that are in order. Now I have to calculate the changes. List will be up tonight or tomorrow. November 2009 was strong and so I'm pretty sure December 2009 will be as well so songs adding weeks should go up a fair bit

And right on time it's 2009! jokes aside this was so hard there's no fixed point system even with a simple multiplier that would even get close to putting the original 100 in order. But I love this year and I enjoyed the slow process of making this. I'll talk more about it after. For now here's the chart. 1

2009 is the best year end hot 100 in the history of music and will always be, the insanely high average of quality is a statistical outlier on par with Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak and Jeanne Calment's 122-year lifespan. Somehow I think this one is even better. Looking at the songs that missed it sucks that we lost Disturbia but it also feels weird that it's on the 2009 list in the first place because it feels quintessentially 2008. So even if replacing it with Bad Romance is a lateral movement in song quality it feels much better to have Bad Romance on the chart. Beyond that the new entries just dominate what was lost

Dropping the horrendous songs If I Were A Boy and Pop Champagne and picking up mostly great songs is only a good thing. Also we got straight up a better Zac Brown song than we did before. It doesn't even cannibalize from 2010, the only song gained here that now has its 2010 placement jeopardized is Meet Me Halfway. Finally I think even the top 10 got better. I never really loved Single Ladies and certainly losing Heartless and I'm Yours is a good thing meanwhile the pop classics Down and You Belong With Me get the top 10 placements they deserve while probably still keeping a spot on the 2010 list.
Anyway in conclusion 2009 is the best year of all time and I love raving about it I spent soooo much time making the top 100 chart so I feel like I get one post to do this if you haven't listened to all 100 songs in a row it's so fun there's a stretch (on the original list) from 62-52 that's just pure concentrated wonderful pop music alright that's all.
Also Let It Rock was #43 twice in a row

GREAT CHART! I think I Gotta Feeling will always remain the #1 song of 2009 in my heart (I never really thought Boom Boom Pow deserved it). HAPPY to see the Gaga domination (and Tik Tok and Bad Romance added) ❤️

Wow great chart. Never Say Never and Green Light not making it is sad, but we get good songs in return anyway.
Knowing this though, the calendar really effed up Down's odds huh. It made neither the 2000s nor 2010s decade-end, and lost the chance of being a top 10 yearend hit. :(

I've seen conflicting opinions on 2009 as a year for music, but I'll always think of it as probably the best year of my life (2007 and 2012 are close, though).

Amazing 2009 list - I'm shocked: Poker Face was that close to #1 year-end?
1 week #1 vs. 12 week #1 and separated by <10000 points is amazing!

Some very interesting stats:
I Kissed A Girl - 707,742 points Hot N Cold - 905,188 points
Hot N Cold getting caught between two years really screwed her - it likely would've been a top 5 year end hit otherwise

I’m even more hyped about 2010 right now, considering the GREATNESS the 2009 chart has.

I’m even more hyped about 2010 right now, considering the GREATNESS the 2009 chart has. 2010 is the domain of Mikesmusicreviews. I think I'm gonna do 1999 and then stop, my birth year seems like a pretty good end point. It'll be awhile though I first need to make my own prospective "complete" chart year for 1999.

I’ll have the 2011 list out tomorrow. After that, I’m gonna wait to work on the 2010 list until after my finals. Just giving y’all a warning btw, y’all are not gonna like the 2011 list.

Songs that missed
Too weak: -Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not -You and Tequila -Colder Weather -My Last
Made 2010: -Bottoms Up -Teenage Dream -Like a G6 -Animal
Caught between years: -Please Don't Go*
*2010 point total is very close to the cutoff, so this does still have a shot

Y’all are not gonna like the 2011 list. What happened to Back To December... It dropped a bit, but it's still there. That wasn't the country song you needed to be worried about...

Tbh I expected a worse chart. Never thought Good Life would have been as high ad it is in this chart, as well as Super Bass making it to No. 6, but it’s an enjoyable chart.

Losing Colder Weather was what really stung. I mean, I still love this chart (2011 and 2015 are my two favorite years), but Colder Weather was one of my favorite songs ever, so I’m not happy about that one. At least there are still 7 other 10/10 songs, plus a bunch of 9s

I only got around to hearing it little over a year ago and I’ve been in love with it since. So sad to see it and Please Don’t Go not make it.
