I'm actually really pleased with the songs we gained this time around.
Kelly Clarkson's "Mr. Know It All", Jason Derulo's "It Girl", and Alexandra Stan's "Mr. Saxobeat" are all great gems that deserved to be on the list proper. Shame about the songs that missed it, though.

And for the last chart from me, the year where it all began 1999. This is a year that I have a fondness for although it is frustrating because there was a lot of interesting stuff that year that missed the year end list. Enjoy this chart with 100% more Vengaboys!

The only song that made it in 1998 and missed here is probably Because Of You which actually also made the 1998 year end list in Dec-Nov. But that's a journey for someone else to take. It's been fun making these, thanks for everyone who's been along for the ride!

It’s disappointing to see Baby One More Time not in the top 10, considering how the song was truly iconic and defining.

It’s disappointing to see Baby One More Time not in the top 10, considering how the song was truly iconic and defining. I know :( I think what's even worse is that Iris wasn't able to make a year end list considering it was like one of the most iconic hits of the entire decade.
Then again though You Drive Me Crazy being on the year end list makes up for a lot and Smooth doubling up in the top 10 is absolutely something I like to see so I'm not sure how I feel about this as a whole

It lost weeks at 18-9-8-5. Ugh this is why I hate songs getting caught between years :'( I know BOMT lost 3 weeks in the top 20 in the original year end chart, and Christina's Genie in a Bottle lost it's last 3-4 weeks; BOMT ranked #5 and GIAB ranked #7 - so I think overall, BOMT still had more points than GIAB

Also shocked "You Drive Me (Crazy)" only made #95 with 15 weeks
It only had 5 extra weeks that weren't counted, but it wouldn't have made it that much higher I think :/

Baby One More Time would have had more points than Genie In A Bottle if it was the full run
You Drive Me Crazy's week at #10 was pretty isolated. Its second highest week was #14 and it was generally a weak part of the chart year

Had the stupid chart rules Billboard had in most of the 90s not existed, Iris would've ended up as one of the biggest hits of all time. Seriously, 18 weeks at #1 on the airplay charts.

The same with Killing Me Softly With His Song by Fugees, and also with most of Mariah’s singles. I think she would’ve had more #1 than she had back in the days if all of her singles were released commercially.

If only Sony wasn’t that sneaky back in the days...

1999 is frustrating. While this version looks more accurate to what was popular based on January-December, it's still sad seeing songs like Iris, Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem), and From This Moment On miss the cut.

mikerivera Is 2010 easier than 2011? Are we expecting surprises tho? Yeah, 2010 was easier since the point totals were overall a lot more consistent throughout the year. The late winter and late summer top 10s were a bit weaker than average, and the fall was stronger, but even using my inverse system, I predicted 99/100 songs, and the one song that did miss was the #100 song, which was only off by less than 1k points. So yeah, 2010 was fun in that regard. As for surprises, well, y’all will see tomorrow. The only thing I’ll say is that the top of the chart looks totally different.

I KNEW TIK TOK WOULD’VE LOST THE #1 SPOT! I have the feeling California Gurls or Hey Soul Sister are gonna replace it...
