This is revenge for indulge tanking both "Remember When" and "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" I suppose lol And tanking those two was already my revenge for the injustice of "Monday Morning Church" going out before either of them.

Oh I won't be mad about having easy fodder for the bottom of my list.

Stats for #6:
Even though a total of 52 points separate this song from making it into the top five it was quite well received here despite the opinion many seem to have of it. Five participants put this in their top five while everyone else placed this somewhere within' their top 30...except for two who put this outside of their top 50 with the other being a bottom 5.

Down by the river on a Friday night A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight Talking 'bout cars and dreaming 'bout women Never had a plan just a livin' for the minute Yeah way down yonder on the Chattahoochee Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was A lot about livin' and a little 'bout love 6. “Chattahoochee”Released: May, 1993 Album: A Lot About Livin' (And a Little 'bout Love) Peak Chart Position: #1 Total: 348 Average: 18.32 Std Dev: 16.12 {Songs Remaining}Chasin' That Neon Rainbow Don't Rock the Jukebox Drive Livin' On Love Midnight in Montgomery

In regards to “Chattahoochee” I really didn't know what to expect given that it's one of Alan's most overplayed hits, but much to my surprise everyone but two participants put this in their to 30! I kind of have a love-hate relationship with this song as there was a time where I just couldn't listen to it at all and would often hit skip whenever it came on the radio. Since revisiting the song again both here and also in the 1993 year-end rankdown I began to find myself enjoying it again and I think I can finally appreciate this one a bit more now. I still can't believe it got this close to the top 5 so y'all really shocked me!
This is the final song to leave from Alan's third studio album A Lot About Livin' (And a Little 'bout Love) which means its time for another album showcase.

I'm okay with "Chattahoochee" leaving now. I wouldn't have minded it being in the Top 5 all that much, but I definitely won't be losing sleep over it. It's another one of his more fun and iconic hits imo.

WOW almost all of those reveals were expected, but I thought for SURE that "Gone Country" would be a top 5 contender, and maybe even stand a good chance of winning!! If you had to ask me for a list of Alan's most classic and influential songs, that one would absolutely be at or near the top!

"Monday Morning Church" was my favorite discovery. That classic country chorus melody with Patty's angelic harmonies. Wow oh wow. This was a discovery for you?!! It was all over the place around the same time as "Suds In The Bucket", "How Far", "I Hate Everything", etc. when you and I were both getting into country radio for the first time! I thought for sure it would have been one of his most nostalgic songs for you! (Not to mention we've already done the 2004 rankdown )

Ouch the last few reveals made my heart hurt a little, especially with Remember When being eliminated before top 5. Remember When is my all time favourite love song and it is perfect in every way - from beautiful lyrics to the gorgeous instrumentation with prominent mandolin and steel quitar solo that gives me goosebumps evey time I listen to it.
Monday Morning Church is another great song and those Patty Loveless background vocals are stunning and they make a song even better.
And one other thing I meant to comment is how good Alan looks in the So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore video. A true gentleman.

(Not to mention we've already done the 2004 rankdown ) I was first getting into country music with Sara Evans' Restless, but I did not regularly listen to country radio or anything during that time. It was mostly just Sara Evans at first... I'd say around 2006 is when I started to expand and somewhere in the 2006-2008 range is when I started to post on music forums for the first time. "Monday Morning Church" was already forgotten by then, and I've never been a big Alan Jackson fan in the sense that I actively seek out his music. I knew most of these from radio play -- I have never listened to any of his albums in full except for Freight Train (because I won it in a contest) and Angels & Alcohol (it came out recently and was short enough). And I have no memory of how it went from the 2004 rankdown, so it was basically a new discovery.

"Chattahoochee" is just obnoxious to me. Glad it missed the top 5.
The top 5 is fantastic, though, except for one song that I hope leaves next and I hope does not win this whole thing.
I have no clue about predictions with this one so I'm not even going to attempt that lol.

Kind of (very) disappointing top 5. I thought that 4 out of 5 songs that made it into top 10 would be eliminated somewhere between 30 and 10 place. I hope my #2 wins, because I don't particulary like any of the other remaining songs (they are alright songs - but I just don't like them nearly as much as I like Alan's slow love songs).
My predictions:
3. Chasin' That Neon Rainbow 2. Don't Rock the Jukebox 4. Drive 1. Livin' On Love 5. Midnight in Montgomery

And we're setting off into the Top 5! Here's some stats for you to consider: - A total of 92 points separate #5 and #1 while only three points separate #5 and #4
- The 10th most polarizing song will exit first
- The top two songs are both the 2nd and 8th least polarizing songs of the rankdown
- The song leaving fourth was a top 2 contender up until the final two lists and has the most #1 rankings
- The top 3 songs all only have one top ranking placement

Stats for #5:
Leaving first is our 10th most polarizing song of the rankdown as it accumulated a massive ten top 5 rankings along with one top 10. All but three participants placed this in their top 30 with one putting it down in their bottom 5.
Best rankdown position: 4 Worst rankdown position: 52 Average position: 15.58 SD Rank: 10th Highest Ranking distribution: Top 10s: 11 11 to 20s: 3 21 to 30s: 2 31 to 40s: 0 41 to 50s: 1 51 to 60: 1 Bottom 5s: 1

Just an old worn-out Jeep Rusty old floorboard, hot on my feet A young girl two hands on the wheel I can't replace the way it made me feel And he'd say, turn it left and steer it right Straighten up girl now you're doing just fine Just a little valley by the river where we'd ride But I was high on a mountain When Daddy let me drive 5. “Drive (For Daddy Gene)” Released: January, 2002 Album: Drive Peak Chart Position: #1 Total: 296 Average: 15.58 Std Dev: 18.58 (10th Highest) {Songs Remaining}Chasin' That Neon Rainbow Don't Rock the Jukebox Livin' On Love Midnight in Montgomery

Sad I couldn't bump it out of the top 5 but I'm just happy that "Drive" was the first one to go in the top 5 and that it didn't win this RD! Just everything about it is so awful to me. Instrumentation, melody, Alan's delivery... and sorry, the lyrics do nothing for me either; you lived in a rural area and your dad let you drive a boat and a truck and now you're doing the same thing for your children. How sweet for y'all but idgaf lol. I might if cared for the song musically.

Stats for #4:
Coming up next will likely be one of the more disappointing reveals thus far as this song looked as though it could run away with the win and is the song with the most #1 rankings. It picked up seven top five rankings as well as five top ten rankings. Unfortunately one of the final two lists to come in included a head scratching bottom 5 ranking which it was never able to recover from.
Best rankdown position: 1 Worst rankdown position: 43 Average position: 15.42 SD Rank: 22nd Highest Ranking distribution: Top 10s: 12 11 to 20s: 1 21 to 30s: 2 31 to 40s: 2 41 to 50s: 1 51 to 60: 0 Bottom 5s: 1

THRILLED that "Midnight In Montgomery" made the top 5!!!! I was expecting this to be out before the top 20 tbh, and I was expecting my last place to be in longer than my #1 so I'm happy that that didn't happen, albeit barely.
"Midnight In Montgomery" is just perfection... easily one of the most haunting and beautiful country songs of all-time. Very thankful that this rightfully made the top 5. Of course I would have liked to have seen it win but I knew that wasn't happening so I can't be disappointed lol.

I think I'm still in shock that "Midnight in Montgomery" got regulated to the fourth position as it was a clear top two contender and favorite amongst the majority of the participants. As I mentioned above this not only got the most #1 rankings of any other song but also more top ten rankings. I remain confounded by that lone bottom 5 ranking which luckily at least didn't push this out of the top five altogether.

Love all of these but definitely rooting for "Don't Rock The Jukebox" and hope it can pull off a win!!! If not that "Livin' On Love" please!
"Chasin' That Neon Rainbow" is the only song in the top 3 that isn't in my top 10, albeit barely.
