"Love's Gonna Make It Alright" is a pleasant groovy song, but tbh overplay has affected it for me more than average for a GS song. (Hence it being one of the very few George Strait songs to miss my top 10 in a year-end rankdown!) Lol

Shocked to see Gloriana still in. Maybe it's just me (probably is) but "Kissed You (Good Night)" was by far their most boring single ironically their most successful.

Lmao at "Love's Gonna Make It Alright" and "Drinkin' Man" performing pretty much exactly the same here!! His Here For A Good Time album rankdown ended in a 3-way tie when these two songs and "Here For A Good Time" could not separate themselves from each other and all tied for #1 "Drinkin' Man" ultimately won the tie because it got more #1 ranks than either of the others. The big strength of "Drinkin' Man" is definitely the lyrics. "I fought it like the devil, but you know that you're in trouble when you're fourteen and drunk by 10am," "Stayed sober once for nine days in a row; I quit cold turkey. Damn near almost made it to ten! But that's a hell of a lot to ask of a drinkin' man," etc. This is a powerful song. It may have signaled the beginning of the end of George's radio days, but I think they needed to release it anyway. It's one of those songs that makes an impact on its audience, regardless of radio play.

"Drinkin' Man" is great lyrically but it's just a bore to listen to musically... which is why I ranked it where it did.
I'm pretty surprised "Ours" is still in, it's definitely in the bottom half when it comes to Taylor Swift songs for me so I wasn't as kind as to her as I usually am (meaning not in my top 10). Also go "Eighteen Inches"!!

I actually think "Drinkin' Man" has a pretty good melody for such a ballad, but its production and progression is definitely not something for radio.
It's a great song though.

People throw rocks at things that shine.🙄
As much as I wanted Speak Now to be the final single and find it not being one as shocking as Cruel Summer missing out, I adore Ours, it was the only deluxe track from Speak Now that I really loved. The video was my favorite from the era too and I loved that QB1 Matt Saracen from FNL was the love interest in the video (even though he doesn't have a gap between his teeth 🤓).

Yes! “Speak Now” absolutely should have been a single. A decade later I remain disappointed by that.

It peaked at #24 on Mediabase in June of 2012. The song was written by Jay Knowles and Adam Wright. Wright is Alan's nephew and was one-half of The Wrights, who released a single to country radio in 2005. The song would be Alan's final trip to the top 30 at radio. Great song and true-blue country music. The lyrics are incredible and Alan sings it so well. Happy it did as well as it did at radio since it was evident his radio career was just about over but if this is released even 10 years prior, it's a #1 hit. Take out LBTrocks ' ranking, this makes the cusp of the top 10 lol.

Wow, there's still some genuine mediocrity left. Such a shame to lose a great song like that. I like "You Go Your Way" a touch better, but both are terrific songs and more than hold their own against Alan's singles from his prime.
