If it wasn't new music, then "half of my hometown" was an excellent choice!! Hope that does equally as well for her!

Kelsea just confirmed on Twitter “half of my hometown” is the next single after this peaks. Time to celebrate. Came here to say this as well. She replied to our very own sabre14! Haha not quite responding to me, but I did start that thread. ;)

Any chart watchers know if there was a change in the way they calculate the hot 100. I’m just curious because some of these country songs are achieving pretty high peaks compared to years past. For instance “Miss Me More” peaked at 47 after it went #1 while this is only at #8 on the country chart and sits at 45 on the hot 100 (so it’s peak will probably be much higher. Cause Miss Me More felt like a bigger hit than this. Can someone explain.

If a Taylor, or DaBaby or someone like that drops an album, that pushes other songs down the hot100. Right now you aren't seeing a lot of new releases, so songs have a chance to reach higher.

I think that it also helps that this song has 3 versions (the official one, the ballerini version, and the Shania Twain remix). So while we might look at streaming numbers from one of them and think that it's underperforming, if you combine them it's a different outcome. Country music in general is increasing in streaming too.

The charts also do tend to be decreasing in point tallies across the board so its increasingly easier to chart higher nowadays than it was before

This is gonna be her second-highest peak on the Hot 100 and should finally be her second song to hit the top 40 on that chart following "Peter Pan."

I'm honestly still salty Peter Pan didn't make the hot 100 year end that year More so that Lost Boy was the bigger Peter Pan inspired hit of that year too lmao

I like both honestly but I definitely prefer Peter Pan over Lost Boy on making the year end

They probably don't have new music ready to go and the album isn't even turning 1 until March, but I am concerned Half Of MY Hometown will have a lukewarm performance on the radio and kill the momentum she gained with HITH. I think it will reach top 15 but might not get much higher.

I also think it's THAT good that it could make it all the way up... It's a crapshoot. We all know radio really prefers Kelsea's uptempos.

I think it will reach top 15 but might not get much higher. I for some reason think this is going to be big for her. I do think she probably has enough songs to put together an album should she wanted to release new music as she always seems to be writing. I believe she said somewhere she wrote over 100 songs for either this record or her last; so I’m sure she could have moved on if she wanted to. I think she’s releasing this because she loves it; she said in an interview somewhere it’s her favorite song she’s recorded, as well as her husbands favorite of hers.

Know this is not this song - but she sounds SO good here. That was indeed a spot-on vocal from Kelsea! I love that she performed something unconventional and went for an underrepresented album cut here because this is a song that really has no business being a single, but it definitely made for a great vocal showcase. Loved it.

If Kelsea hits #1 her album kelsea will be the 457th studio album of the Airplay era to have a #1 single on it. I'm not counting greatest hits albums either just studio albums.

Prediction: I predict this will be a Mediabase #1 only whereas Luke stays #1 for a fifth and final week this coming weekend on Billboard Country Airplay. He is still too far ahead and not dropping that fast in audience. I predict a #2 peak for Billboard for "hole in the bottle".

Yeah I am not feeling the best about this hitting #1 on Billboard this time next week, as "Better Together" is at 32.596 on Billboard tonight and "Hole In The Bottle" is at 24.766 and that is nearly an 8 million audience gap. Black River certainly has their work cut out for them to say the least since "Better Together" is still testing, streaming, and selling so well.
I am hopeful "Hole In The Bottle" can hit #1 but man is it gonna be tall task

What a bad idea to rush this push to #1. Had they waited one more week, I think this might have had more chances to block Darius Rucker from the top, whose single has been a lot less impactful than "Hole in the Bottle".
(Correction: I edited Kenny Chesney out, sorry for missing that he had already pushed this week)

^ these push weeks are planned a good deal in advance; they probably suspected Luke’s song would have been dropping faster by now since it’s been #1 for 3 or 4 weeks already (I can’t remember.) Kenny’s song has peaked as its push week was last week, so it’ll be falling from here on out.
I think HITB will be a mediabase only #1. Crazy she hasn’t had a BB #1 since Legends in the beginning of 2018.

I’m aware "Better Together" is a huge hit, but come on... does it really need 5 weeks at the top? Let this song have at least ONE week at the summit for crying out loud.
Maybe I’m just extra bitter because I really dislike the Combs song lmao. I am usually a sucker for ballads, and I love all of his other singles, but that song is one of the most painfully dull and bland radio singles ever imo. Instant station changer.

Yeah, I love "Better Together," but 5 weeks is just ridiculous, lol. I want this to hit #1 on both charts but it's just not gonna happen on Billboard. Hopefully a Mediabase #1 is in the cards; at least it'd still be a #1 hit.

Don’t get me wrong I love this song and Kelsea but if you’re behind a Luke Combs song you’re chances at knocking him out of number 1 are usually not going to be good. If Morgan Wallen hadn’t have done what he did I think he would’ve been another one spending multiple weeks at #1. Pretty sad when you’re on fire and you get caught doing something that makes you do a total tailspin. Back to Kelsea though I’d love to see her or another female artist get the love that Luke C gets from radio.

We haven’t seen radio absolutely latch onto a female artist like they have with Combs since Carrie launched.

It should hit #1 on Mediabase as the Building Chart has it at #1 there (https://hitsdailydouble.com/mediabase_chart_details&fmt=C1) Honestly after thinking it over this morning I am not too shocked this will miss #1, "Better Together" is just such a force right now with its sales, streams, and most importantly radio callout where Kelsea Ballerini is kind of lacking as I want to do a side by side comparison on the Mediabase Callout Scores between "Better Together" and "Hole In The Bottle" "Better Together" Pop Score: 96, Positive: 75.5, Fav: 31.5, Negative: 10.5, Net Positive: 65.2, Heavy Burn: 6.5 "Hole In The Bottle" Pop Score: 81, Positive: 70.2, Fav: 22.9, Negative: 19.8, Net Positive: 50.5, Heavy Burn: 10.1 As much as I love "Hole In The Bottle" and from a fan point of view I would want it to hit #1 on both charts just looking at the numbers between the sales, streams, callout etc. I get why radio is so slow to drop "Better Together" and why "Hole In The Bottle" is probably gonna have to settle for a Mediabase only #1. It just completely pales in comparison in every department hit wise and while the callout is salvageable, the callout scores aren't great by any stretch of the imagination.

She looks like she could score back to back #1’s with “The Good Ones”.

Yeah, because every song with those sorts of call out scores and sales streaming numbers totally gets 6 weeks at #1. If we're just going by comparison Better Together should just be #1 for the next month or so. At some point radio removes every song from its peak, allowing other songs to get to #1, and just keeps it in high rotation.

What I was saying was the very high callout is why it is probably falling very slow and why it is going to be able to get 5 weeks at #1 on Billboard. I am not saying it should be #1 for the next month but it's not shocking for me at least that radio is slow to drop "Better Together" because of course country radio is going to let a song that is testing extremely well be in very high rotation for a long time, this has happened a whole ton of times ("Beautiful Crazy", "Love You Like I Used To", "One Of Them Girls", "Die From A Broken Heart", "Die A Happy Man", "Body Like A Backroad", and so many more I can think of) it just so happens to be that this time that "Better Together" had amounted such a lead on other singles below it that it is going to spend so many weeks at #1 since the audience gap is so huge.
