Kelsea has admitted herself that she's a chart hawk and cares about little details (like all of us here) so I know she has to be bummed/annoyed her last two singles were MB #1s only. Still glad for her but, man.

Honestly, her and her team did get a #1. That’s what they care about for radio number ones. Would they have loved Billboard too, a #1 is a #1.

"hole in the bottle" missed #1 on Billboard Country Airplay by less than 500k in total audience, so it was fairly close -- closer than I anticipated.

I genuinely think if they pushed this through Monday with how close the audience was I think Kelsea would have gotten the Billboard #1 gosh this is giving me "Dirty Laundry" flashbacks.

Has a label ever actually pushed through Monday to get the billboard. I’ve never seen it (or maybe I have or haven’t noticed.) Don’t even get me started on Dirty Laundry still salty on that one.

Please don't mention that. We Carrie diehards are still traumatized. I'm glad Kelsea managed to make it so close to BB #1 but man...knowing it was that close makes it sting a little more to be quite honest. In any case, a #1 is a #1 and "hole in the bottle" is a #1 that deserved to be a #1. Certified country bop. I can't wait for "half of my hometown" as that is one that screams #1 to me.

Technically, a label would need to push through Sunday to grab the Billboard #1 (since Billboard's chart week runs Monday at 12 am to Sunday at 11:59 pm); and yes, labels do push through Sundays sometimes. I was under the impression this push was through Sunday, since the label did send an ad to programmers saying "2/7-2/14" and surely they were close enough by Sunday, so I'm not sure what happened. "Better Together" lost audience as well, so it's a bit surprising Kelsea's update wasn't better on Monday. In fact, "Beers and Sunshine" was only 700k in total audience from claiming Billboard this week as well. Black River Entertainment has done a ton for Kelsea's career and have given her huge pushes before, so they've definitely done enough for her in the way of promotion. They'll be happy with the Mediabase #1 but I know Sony Music Nashville was hoping for a fifth week for Combs at Billboard (the bottom didn't fall out till the Tuesday update). I know many at Pulse are disappointed that Kelsea missed but it's been so long since we've had 4+ week reigns at #1 and it's nice to see them again, because I do wish the bigger hits were rewarded more at radio these days, like they were in the 90s and 2000s. I preferred "hole in the bottle" to "Better Together" personally, but Combs' single was the bigger hit.
