Another band straight outta Canada - these guys have had more significant success up here than our previous artist, though
A nice throwback to the good jangly pop-rock stuff of the late 90s

#33 spent ONE list barely outside the bottom 10. It's the source of the 9th lowest SD.
5 top half rankings are lost, including 3 top 10s.
The opposition wasn't as harsh here, as there's only 6 bottom 10s, but it has a #40. More than half the participants ranked this song between #20 and #30, hence the low SD, but low-ish ranking.

The Other Man was really cool, I might have underranked it a tad. I think jangle pop as a whole is growing on me a bit tbh

These guys' sound would've fit perfectly on the alt chart over the past few years - but somehow they're taking a lot of heat for their material being supposedly "not as good" as it was on their first album. Well, I respectfully disagree with that mainstream opinion

Not surprised this is out early. I love the riffs and energy this song has, especially dig the chorus, but I could understand why someone would find the vocals a bit much.

#32 bounced around quite a bit, spending one list at #40 but also a few lists fully outside the bottom 10.
2 top 10s, which are actually both top 5s, are lost, and they're both for individuals who have already lost a top 10. Another #40 is lost, along with 4 other bottom 10s.

Trippy
Quite a drop from their performance in my first RD, though

Well, I thought this would have more support, too. I am continuing to be surprised by you guys here.
If I said that I might have liked this more than "Loud Pipes", how much pushback would I get?

Alright, if your top 10 is still intact, get ready, since #31 sees 4 people lose their first top 10. This is the 10th highest SD. A severe opposition was observed since half the participants ranked this bottom 10.
This song spent one movement in the top 20, but never made it back in afterwards and ended the rankdown in its second-lowest position.

Yea I'm sorry, but while most people can overlook the sloppy performances on some early OMD songs, I have a harder time doing that.

I struggle to get into OMD more than you'd think. I think they're a good band with a couple of great songs (I love "Souvenir", for example), but, usually, I find myself liking the songs a bit and never really thinking about them much after the fact.

40. Powerless - Linkin ParkThis song really felt out of place on this list. It didn't really sound like Linkin Park. I bet this was on that album with that "Burn It Down", which I liked at first than burnt it down completely. Nice start. 39. Godstar - Psychic TVI kinda figured this would end up low. I kinda dug the psychedelic throwback sound, but the song's composition kinda fell flat in the end. I have to add because it seldom happens to me, but the female background vocals annoyed the hell out of me. She sounded like the chick saying "Pissing the Night Away" on Chumba Wamba's song. Am I right or am I right? 38. What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost? - Taking Back SundayKinda catchy in the guitars, but nothing to write home about. I knew was gonna get slaughtered among this list of songs. Awesome album art tho. 37. Major Tom - Shiny Toy Guns The song itself did not bring any strength to the original classic, but those female vocals really upgraded this cover for me. 36. Just Another Girl - The KillersI have no idea why this Killers song would come out so low. It's like bottom ten for half the members. Was there Something creepy in the lyrics I missed? Anyway, I found it very soothing ,aesthetic and Brandon Flowers always gives good vocal. 35. Up in This Town - Boyand there is the other half of the players tanking this one. I kinda fall in the middle with both songs, but this was a jam. One of the few first time listen Alternative rock side songs I was actually able to upgrade in a list this strong. A strong garage rock vibe like Early Strokes really had me head bopping. Download/check for archives. 34. The Other Man - SloanI didn't know this style was called "jangly pop-rock". I would probably just call it "Brit Pop" myself. Definitely the style I was upgrading when we were doing thos early 90's RDs. BTW where does the term Jangly derive from when applied to this style of music? 33. Nightclub - The VaccinesI tried hard to get into this one. Even tried imagining it had Joey Ramone vocals. Not that the guy's vocals were bad at all. I just enjoyed 27 songs more than this one. 32. Shempi - RatatatThe synths in this music was the most enticing aspect of this song. I'm almost positive I would have upgraded it to Top 15 with proper Abba vocals. 31. Electricity - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark...and the WTF of the week goes to... What the actual hell just happened? Are the 80's tankers showing their true colors this early? Forget that it's OMD, just listen to that chord progression. The simplicity of the vocals is the genius part of it as well. This was their very first U.K. single way back in '79 and the first time is always the charm. It made it's way to L.A. in late 1981. I was just a little kid but I remember this one on KROQ(back when KROQ was cool of course), and I was jotting down my early wanna be weekly top 30. It ended up very high on their YE top 106.7 of 1981. It was still on heavy rotation in 1982. This was never released as a single in the U.S. but I found the 45' when we were living in France. "Sloppy" is the last thing this song is. You try playing that chord progression without getting your fingers tangled. it's actually a quite simple melody, but the illusion is that its a lot harder to play than it sounds. That's some finger magic there. I'd say "Classic" is the correct word for it.

Hello. Let's reveal our second set of songs. I'm running on a rather strict deadline today, so we might stop at #26 if need be.
#30 sees us lose 3 more top 10s - all from people who've already lost at least one.
This nearly has one of the 10 highest SDs, but its movements do not show for it, as this was pretty stable throughout the entire process, peaking at #28. It did spent one list at #40, somewhat early on, though.

You might remember me submitting this artist for RMD last winter. This sound is pretty different from what I submitted, but just as cool IMO. I especially like the sudden turnaround from rapid indie pop to the trippy, noisy final minutes

Ring the alarm, as we're losing a #1 ranking at #29, and it's from someone who's been suffering quite a bit already. 2 more people are losing top 10s - their first of the kind.
Yet another #40 is eliminated, with 4 other bottom 10s. This nearly started and ended in the same position, but spent most of the rankdown in the bottom 10. In fact, if you didn't like the previous reveal, there's a good chance you won't like this one either.

I actually only discovered this recently, but I instantly fell in love with the quirky mix of synthpop and new wave
That's one peculiar video though
My condolences, Beno

2nd highest SD coming up at #28. Multiple top 10s are lost - 4, to be precise - along with another #1 ranking. Nearly every bottom half ranking is actually in the bottom 10.

Arguably one of their best songs since the early 2000s - I was definitely expecting this to be very polarizing, but somehow this is not quite the highest SD
(Yea, in hindsight, I may even have underranked this a bit)
My condolences, Butterflies & Hurricanes

Alright, taking a break here. #27 is the 7th lowest SD.
This song slowly crept into the top 10, but was continously dropped afterwards, ending at its lowest overall position.
Again, 3 top 10s are lost here - including some for individuals who've had a reasonably good time so far. The opposition wasn't very present here, since there's no bottom 5s and only 4 bottom 10s.

Though I'm not familiar with his actual content, this guy's actually a famous streamer and this is his fun musical side gig. Quite a good psychedelic vibe with a very polished production on this track
