Time to polarize Pulse again, as #26 is the 6th highest SD.
5 top 10s (including 3 top 5s, and a #1) are eliminated here.
The opposition? 8 bottom 10s. 2 #40s, which, might I subjectively add, are rather obvious to me.

My ex-girlfriend actually introduced me to this song a few years ago and the EP it's off from actually has a great summer vibe. Ironically, this song became especially relevant to me after we broke up
This was always going to be a high SD, but I was perhaps expecting it to do a bit better. This is not a hot Bad Wolves cover though, (un)fortunately
My condolences, wrip

Alright, we're running low on time today (and early reveals is not the best time for reveals), so that's it for this set right now.
Expect the next set to have 5 songs too, and then back to regular 10-song sets.

Before this rankdown I had kinda forgotten about “To Die In LA” and that was a huge mistake, it’s such a phenomenal song.
Honestly this set kinda sucked with Dream Girl and Sober leaving as well lmao

30. Draem Girl - No Vacation The music was ok. As to say the guitars were upbeat, but his vocals struck me as lazy. Kinda dragging the last word of each phrase. Almost like his heart wasn't into singing the song. Wasn't really feeling what was happening in the midbreak either.
29. To Die in L.A. - Lower Dens One of my favorite female sung first time listens from the list. very upbeat and I love when they hold the notes in the chorus. Actually the song hooked me from the drums of the intro. The MV is enticing and disturbing at the same time. So who is doing the vocals. The Blonde or the buzz cut chick?
28. DEUTSCHLAND - Rammstein Really surprised to see who put this one at #1. I mean considering the other songs on here, but I do remember it being huge on his personal chart. I preferred "Radio", but this one was a hit on my Metal Top 10.
27. In the Garden - Red Vox wasn't feeling this one. This song also gave me one of the weirdest musical vibes yet. The first impression I got was that with harder guitars this would be a full out Post Grunge song. The vocal melody he was following felt like a Saving Abel or Puddle Of Mudd harmony, so to me I got a weak ass Saving Abel song. I can't really put it into words, but I didn't dig it at all.
26. Sober - Childish Gambino That intro already had it fumbling at the starting gate, but The main culprit for me on this song are the vocals, the music here is also just way too modern sounding for me. Maybe if it had appeared on a list of modern songs, but here it just sounded like a total distraction from the upbeat Alt Rock or 80's vibes most of the list gave me.

#25 would be an uneventful reveal if it was not for the fact we're losing another #1 ranking. 2 more people joined this ranking inside the top 10 - only one person will have an immaculate top 10 standing after this reveal.
This song was generally agreed upon, as nearly half the rankings are in the 20s, and there are only 3 bottom 10s; no bottom 5s.

A cool rather obscure act from Australia who really developed a unique sound by mixing elements of synthpop, alt-dance and even French House in their most known songs
My condolences, nickd

We're continuing the streak of "3 rankings inside the top 10" with #24. This is also the 6th lowest SD. This spent nearly half the rankdown barely inside the top 20, but it couldn't firmly plant itself in there.
Just 4 bottom 10s are lost, but there are 2 bottom 5s again.

These guys have been putting out solid, straightforward synthpop for over two decades. I enjoy the almost epic, urgent sound that this song has with the layered strings throughout the entire song

#23 progressively crawled out of a bad early spot to nearly make the top 20. It is tied with "The Island", but won the tiebreaker due to a higher highest rank.
5 top 10s - which are almost all in the top 5 - are lost here.
The opposition? 7 bottom 10s, but just one bottom 5. Considering the contrast here, it's normal to say that this is a high SD, the 9th highest.

It seems like I always tank this artist, even when I legitimately love her songs - such as in this case

#22 spent the first movement inside the bottom 10, but quickly got aided out of it and spent the rest of the rankdown hovering around the top 20.
Half (10) the participants ranked this in the top 20, including 5 total top 10s and 1 top 5. If you've been having either a very good or a very bad rankdown so far, you might be concerned here.
4 more bottom 10s are lost, including 2 bottom 5s.

Finishing this set with a bit of a bang, #21 is the 8th highest SD.
5 top 10s, including 3 top 5s, are lost here. We're also finally eliminating another #40, and it's from someone who's otherwise been having a pretty good rankdown so far.
Oh yeah: this spent the first seven lists inside the top half - including an early movement inside the top 10.

Alright, that's it for the (revealed in 2 parts) second set.
This was a fairly uneventful set, but the next one has some pretty big shockers

Promised Land was my 2nd highest first listen, that riff is absolutely killer and the track overall is just goth rock goodness

25. Shadows - Midnight JuggernautsSucks that I didn't get to see this music video on youtube. The best aspect was that mean bassline. The problem with that is that they couldn't come out of that beat and therefore the song was kinda staying in the same melody. The verses were basically the same melody without the cool synths and bassline. I just wished it had flourished a little more in the chorus. 24. The Island - LadytronThis one hooked me from the intro, but I was not digging the vocalist. This time she doesn't sound so bad. I think the songs were beginning to get to rank in the 21-25 range. Either that or I forgot to move it up. I'm thinking This might be a mistake on my part because it sounded rather good this time around. 23. Violence - Grimes & i_oModern Retrowave. Not bad, but it wasn't an instant synthpop wonderjam to my ears. I like her vocals I just wish they were stronger. It almost sounds like her voice is gonna fade away when she hits the high notes. Not a bad melody tho. 22. I Disappear - The Faint"Dance Punk" huh. Definitely something I could dance to. 21. Promised Land - Skeletal FamilyOne of my favorite first time listens. I didn't even know it was form 1985. I guess my ears automatically pick up on those vibes. Sounded like Goth punk. What I love is the guitars sounded like early U2. fast and commanding. reminded me of "I Will Follow". I also thought this is probably what Bloc Party sounded like when they were ten years old.

Hi. After a break for the weekend, I'll reveal 20-16 (sorry, sticking to 5-song sets for now, lol)
#20 spent most of the rankdown around the same range of rankings. Its SD is right in the middle.
4 more top 10s are lost, though 12 of the participants ranked this top half. To stay consistent, 4 bottom 10s are gone, including 2 bottom 5s.

Very interesting yet fairly unknown shoegaze band. These guys have a good recipe for incorporating to a small extent some of the noisier elements of acts like My Bloody Valentine while channeling some of the elegance of a band like Lush. If you enjoyed this, check out "Guilty", which definitely pays a loyal tribute to Lush.
Also, yeah, what a band name
