Pulse's new love, without much surprise, sneaks into the top 5 as the least divisive song of the RD

This is probably my least favorite of the four (I believe it's four) RBCF songs I've heard. It's just that the other three are so freaking good that this, a good song by pretty much any other standards, gets left in the dust a bit.

#3 has the lowest amount of top 10 rankings among the three remaining songs: however, it still boasts an impressive 12 rankings of the kind! This actually ended the rankdown at its peak position - although it'd been locked in that spot for many movements.
Two more bottom 10s are eliminated here. Maybe even a #1 ranking or two?

When this song's chorus drops, it sounds so heavenly - I'm glad a 9-minute song could almost sneak into the top 2. Shoegaze perfection from a rather obscure, one-hit wonder band!
My condolences, rowellfarm490 and MoD - but look at all these perfect rankings at #3

Red likes shoegaze? No way!
The way this gradually builds to the main instrumental is so good, and, once it kicks in, it's bliss.
3 vs. 4
I would say that I won't mind the winner either way, but one of these winning would be significantly cooler than the other.

It's the old guard vs the new guys at the top: Mad World vs Something to Remember Me By! 35 years separate the releases of these songs. I was low-key hoping for something like this to happen at the top. Some facts:
• Of the 40 rankings left, 28 are top 10s, including 17 top 5s. • 2 bottom 10s are still hanging around. • Only one of these songs spent time at #1: and it spent the last 15 lists at #1. The other one spent the last 14 lists at #2. • A full ranking separates these songs in terms of points -- 40. • It's a meetup of old enemies at the top, as only two people have their #1s left: Daryl the Beryl and Doc Indie Party Rock . Did they team up, or did they go separate ways?

Somehow, this song never really pulled all that close to the #1 spot despite always being in the top 10 - it did pull up within few points, but it kept falling back behind everytime. Needless to say, this is an absolute classic that everyone should know, and much better than that sappy 2000s cover in my opinion.
That being said... my condolences, Daryl the Beryl

That's all! "Something To Remember Me By" was certainly a surprising yet awesome winner - I thought it'd have the support to go top 10, but definitely not to win the whole thing. Thank you to everyone who took their sweet time to listen to the playlist and who followed along - rankdowns wouldn't exist without you! Sorry again for taking so long to reveal, but hopefully the results were all worth it. Will there be a third installment of Geo's Alternative & Synthpop songs? Maybe... but if there is one, it won't be for a while. Lol.
Anyway. Thanks again, everyone - as always, I'm deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to give these 40 songs a try!

I love "Mad World" (and, unlike the host, I love the cover, too), and I think it's an 80's classic, but oh my god, I'm so happy The Horrors won. I'd argue that this is what Arcade Fire were shooting for with Everything Now and failed spectacularly at. The extended instrumental break in the middle is my everything. As always, Geometrical, great job hosting. You make me want to host a personal on Pulse again. Whether I actually do that in the near future remains to be seen.

Cheers for hosting Geo! This list made me rediscover a few old favourites I had forgotten about, as well as some new bangers as well

Wow! I didn't expcet my #1 to win, but I did wish it. I'll come tomorrow night to review some of the other top 10's, but for now "Something To Remember Me By" was an actual #1 on my own weekly personal music chart, so it's an honor to see it take the crown on this RD.

Thanks a ton for hosting this one, Geo. I added a ton of artist discogs that I have never dug into from this rankdown to my list to check out. One of the best personal rankdowns that I've ever done to be honest. Looking forward to your next one in the future.
