How is Carly eligible? she has two albums out My predictions are Gabby, Highwomen, Ingrid, Morgan, Riley Justin Moore had 3 albums out and like 5 top 10 hits before he won “new” artist one year. 🤣 In fact the ACM’s got called out twice over the last few years for disregarding their own rules. Justin Moore being nominated for new artist when he was not eligible is one. I can’t remember the 2nd but I think it had to do with a single or song being nominated that wasn’t even released in the time frame of eligibility.

They only nominated 4 songs, which is alright if there are a lack of good songs that year (but there were plenty of eligible songs). There were 3 fine nominees ("Female", "Body Like A Back Road" & "Tin Man"), and then their 4th nomination went to Chris Stapleton's "Whiskey And You" which not only was never released as a single (and was an utterly strange album track pick), but was part of an album from May 2015. The 2017 awards were for stuff released in the year 2016. It made zero sense.

I remember when the president of the ACM’s had to make a statement about why Justin Moore was nominated when according to their own rules he wasn’t eligible....He basically said “we have the final say in who we feel should be nominated”. Lol it was pathetic

I might be crazy, but wasn't there also an issue where "Tequila" was nominated for best song two years in a row or something like that? Or maybe it was just my perception with "Speechless" and "Tequila" seemingly morphing into one never-ending loop of vanilla that plagued my life for like 3 collective years...

You probably mean Die A Happy Man, but it is the ACM Awards, and he won Single of the Year first in 2016 then won Song of the Year in 2017.

You have got to be kidding me. Now it comes off like others can only win if he takes himself out of the contention. What a joke.

I am sure Garth Brooks is a nice person if any of us met him, but my gosh he rubs me the wrong way and this especially comes across as condescending

In a way after thinking about this, it kind of makes it seem as though he was entirely certain about winning again and it almost nullifies whoever does win in the future.

Well it’s gonna start becoming the Luke Combs award before long and that’s not a bad thing.

Does anyone have the link to the second round showcase? Looks like it’s we are down to the final 15.

Oops. Guess I should’ve posted this in here originally, but: Garth is on the shortlist, and the only two women included in those 15 are Carrie & Miranda. Big slap in the face to Maren.

Here to say, again, that Maren Morris deserved to be nominated or even win EOTY.
Ridiculous that she isn't even considered on the second ballot. What on earth!!

Voters won’t remember it, but the second leg of Carrie’s cry pretty tour occurred during the eligibility period. So tour plus book and fitness app goes along with some of the criteria.
I’m not surprised about Brad being on the final fifteen he’s been doing a lot during quarantine. He won’t be nominated for eoty but he’s been working.
Not at all surprised about no Tanya Tucker. I remember Blown Away winning the Grammy for song but getting zero country song nominations at the ACM or CMA. Success at the Grammys doesn’t always translate to success at the country shows.

My predictions, somewhat based in very wishful thinking:
Entertainer: Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church
Male: Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, Kane Brown (if there is any justice), Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan
Female: Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde

Single: The Bones, 10,000 Hours, I Hope, Nobody But You, One Margarita (The first three listed have been HUGE crossover successes. Any of them deserve it)
Song: Bluebird, Die From a Broken Heart, Prayed For You, More Hearts Than Mine, Be A Light
Album: Ocean, Wildcard, What You See Is What You Get, Never Will, Southside/kelsea/Here and Now

How Maren isn't in the Final 15 is beyond me. What a big sexist slap to her face. Wow.

If they change the category to Artist of the year instead of Entertainer of the year, maybe my girl Maren would be in consideration. Everybody know this category is concert based, which stinks, because not everybody sell out night to night, but have a good statistical yr like Kane Brown, who was also no mentioned in this category.

It is very disheartening that in this week's Country Aircheck the only mention of Maren Morris in regards to EOTY was simply this statement
"And over the next several years, I expect Maren Morris, Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt and Jordan Davis being talked about for this category. Some quicker than others, obviously, but they will all be consistently headlining arenas or stadiums"
This was Maren's year and she should have at least been on the shortlist at the very least.

Hot take: Maren Morris didn't have enough presence in the eligibility period aside from The Bones, unless you count The Highwomen as part of her work. Brad Paisley at least has a TV special.

Hot take: Maren Morris didn't have enough presence in the eligibility period aside from The Bones, unless you count The Highwomen as part of her work. Just aside from the biggest country hit of the year by a clear country mile? That song alone should've placed her in the top 15. Like, I don't even see how we could justifiably put her below fifteen different artists in the genre right now on the strength of "The Bones."
