I don't see that song selling as much? Are the Barbz really that rich?
With songs debuting high and dropping the next week into oblivion due to either streams or sales does it even matter? Miss Minaj has many accomplishments and another shortlived top 5 hit is not gonna add anything relevant to her stats.

hot 100 number ones are meaningless now . These fans created multiple iTunes accounts , use multiple cards etc to buy as many as maybe 50 copies . Reading those tweets makes me realize number ones are now a manipulation game why so mad if someone wants to buy multiple copies to help their fave? The same happens with streaming.anyone can have a song on replay and it will count on hot 100.. the same with album copies..taylor and her multiple editions of the album was an example the last week.I'm sure fans bought many copies It weakens the credibility of what the chart is supposed to be.

The charts have always been manipulated. We just are aware now and hold power to do it ourselves.

It would never have gone to #1 if it weren't for widespread positive acclaim

Iβm not mad , but we are here discussing chart issues , right ? Making observations or being discontent is not being mad . Stay well π»

They are a company, and I'm guessing most of their subscribers are people working in the music industry. Billboard doesn't give a shit what "chart predictors" think, they don't care what angry Barbz think, because these people are not bringing in their revenue. Obviously they need to be relevant for the industry to care; but so long as the industry cares about them, they will remain relevant.

^Yeah, mostly. It already dropped to #2 to iTunes.
BTW, does anybody know anything about the current #1, Just About Over You?

So manipulating sales doesn't stand that well with them either (probably their partners aswell).

I completely agree with you. I donβt think they built this musical dynasty just to have it be manipulated and mocked by these tactics. They need to close all these loopholes.

yeah but my point is that they define what they are, and what the "accurate measure" is.

I feel bad for the Barbz .. always high strung and paranoid π . Not to mention broke as well .. buying 17 versions of every nicki song can be financially draining

Obviously they need to be relevant for the industry to care; but so long as the industry cares about them, they will remain relevant. Okay - so maybe it's us who is misinterpreting what Billboard's chart is meant to be, but Billboard themselves play into it by catering their social media, not to industry folk, or to subscribers, but to chart watchers and fans. As much as we might like to say they don't give a s**t what non-industry folk think, stans still flock to them and their charts for bragging rights and that generates web hits and follows and interest in what they do, so I'd say they do care a little bit. But going back to the credibility angle, without credibility, labels and industry folk will gradually stop using Billboard charts as a reference point if there are other better measurements to go by.

. Well no way that Move Ya Hips is only 70k ! Itβs at least 100k so I see it more like a number 3 entry . Where it gets interesting is with Harry. He just released a limited edition vinyl single available only till tomorrow. His fans are motivated and hungry for a number 1 . He is about 20k copies away from a number 1 and I think heβs the dark horse this week. Depends how generous his fans are. I looked on his site and the vinyl singles are $17!!!!! SEVENTEEN!! Itβs a bit much

Move Ya Hips debuting in the top 10 is the exact reason sales should be counted less than they already are

Yeah but My Future isn't exactly that dark, it is a really hopeful song, and probalby the brightest thing she's ever released. Billie Eilishβs dark ballads will one day stop working. You canβt really have elongated success with one type of music, especially if itβs ballads. Thatβs why Bad Guy was nice, itβs fun and light.

time to stop counting sales altogether And might as well remove radio, it can be manipulated by rich af people choosing a specific song to be played a lot in order to boost its position.
