Yeah so with how this whole situation is shaping out I really wouldn't be surprised if MYH blocked WAP from #1 this week with the Barbz' 100k million sales magically appearing out of nowhere you cannot hold over sales for the next week from the previous week . But fret not Barbz, I predict 3 or 4 number ones in their future before 2020 is over . I wish all these fans brought this energy to voting in the elections

Poor thing. Maybe he will think twice about better things to spend all that money in the future.

Has Ferg actually confirmed that had he didn’t send his numbers ? Or is this another QC storyline ? And no the payola thing isn’t going away 😂😂...t but Barbz really are not on a moral high ground anyways when it comes to charting Ferg hasn't confirmed anything. For all I know he probably thought the song was released this week cause he waited till after the tracking week to release merch. But i did see a tweet that made sense, Ferg's website apparently got 66k of the 80k sales while Nicki's website got 14k (apparently her website was crashing a ton and refunding purchases so Barbz confided in Ferg) and only Nicki's website numbers were sent to Billboard. This whole thing just seems so funny. This is a narrative created by the same people that claim that they had 80k preorders because obviously the real numbers were much lower. Either these sales do not exist or they were filtered out for being fraudulent. What would Ferg win by not reporting?

All these stories are coming from the same QC account However I say again , we can’t blame artists for taking advantage of a broken system. Billboard needs to clean this up

I don't necessarily fault any of the artists for potentially taking advantage of a loophole. Charts are game.
But the idea that Asap Ferg would not report sales, and deprive himself of his first top 10 hit? It doesn't make sense to me. It was a bigger deal for him vs Nicki who has countless top 10 hits already.

barbz on twitter r unironically saying that cardi and atlantic payed ferg to not send his website sales to billboard to stop nicki from getting her third #1 uh Cardi's got some deep pockets because she recently had to pay for: 1. Airplay 2. Spotify playlisting 3. Streams on Apple Music 4. Youtube views 5. Asap Ferg's lifetime supply of weed to prevent Nicki from another #1. If only her check to 6ix9ine had cleared before they got Trollz to #1, we could have been saved.

I love r/Popheads, as it is the community that introduced me to albums like E•MO•TION and After Laughter, but the amount of users calling “Watermelon Sugar” a TikTok hit hurts my brain

I mean the website literally reports 66k website sales if you pay attention to the emails. I dont see why the Barbz would lie about that part when it is public record. If you buy a song it shows you your order number. I have no clue what happened, you are asking the wrong person.

It is completely baffling that no one on Ferg's label or management team would be on top of sales on an hourly basis if there was any chance it was going to be a big hit.

It seems like he's a really nice guy. I'm not mad at him and I understand why his label pushed this song so hard this week. I just don't like what is happening in this whole situation. Let's hope that Billboard adjusts its rules and maybe even the chart formula. I hear ya !! I also wish the 4 singles per order thing goes away . It is after all still a form of ‘bundling’ . Billboard is playing catch up with all the schemes , stans using VPN , creating multiple iTunes accounts , buying different Visa cards etc etc . It’s mind boggling what you read the fans are doing on Twitter . Not sure billboard will ever be able to close all these loopholes They won't, because there will always be loopholes. Fans and labels have been manipulating the charts since they began. Through the payola scandals of the 50s, the fraudulent sales and airplay reports into the Neilsen/SoundScan era, the 49 cent singles and suppression tricks in the 90s, multiple purchases on iTunes, ticket bundles, vinyl bundles, streaming parties...people will always find ways to juice numbers. It's just part of how it works. As soon as Billboard seems to eliminate one tactic another rears its head.

As long as there is clout to be gained by chasing hits, there will be people looking to exploit loopholes for that clout.

there are loopholes in the presidential elections in this country so it's unreasonable to hope billboard will one day manage to get rid of theirs imo lol
there will always be artists, and even more so labels, who will go the extra mile to cheat the system

I would just like to state, for the record, that in December after 'Fine Line' just came out, I asked what are the odds of Watermelon Sugar becoming a hit, to which everyone replied with no's all around. Lmao and here we are. Wild

Lmao and here we are. Wild I just haven't been impressed with his solo work so far, in fact for me I like his music the least out of all the 1D members. Let's also not pretend that WS is a completely organic #1 either, with all the bundling and discounting and new videos... it's fall next week should be pretty substantial, at least to #4 probably. I think Billie's debut is the most impressive, no tricks or gimmicks, solid opening streaming and sales with no mass bundling that I'm aware of, and even picking up some decent airplay with no radio deal. Just solid reputation and quality of music. If you have to buy someone's reputation, they probably ain't got much of one!
