I'm really trying to think of another example of exes replacing each other at number one and can't come up with any. Not Rihanna/Chris Brown, not Rihanna/Drake (if you want to consider them exes), not Justin/Selena, not Taylor & Calvin Harris, not Ariana and Big Sean or Mac Miller, not Whitney/Bobby, not Britney & Justin Timberlake, not Carly Simon/James Taylor, not Madonna or any of the guys she was ever rumored to have flings with (2Pac, MJ, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Vanilla Ice), not Sonny & Cher, not Ike & Tina, not R. Kelly & Aaliyah (yikes!), not Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham, not Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale, not Michael Hutchence & Kylie Minogue, not Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger/Deryck Whibley......I can't come up with a single instance but there has to be at least one, right?!?!?!? The closest I can come up with is Peter Gabriel and Genesis ha ha.

I would just like to state, for the record, that in December after 'Fine Line' just came out, I asked what are the odds of Watermelon Sugar becoming a hit, to which everyone replied with no's all around. Lmao and here we are. Wild I just haven't been impressed with his solo work so far, in fact for me I like his music the least out of all the 1D members. Let's also not pretend that WS is a completely organic #1 either, with all the bundling and discounting and new videos... it's fall next week should be pretty substantial, at least to #4 probably. I think Billie's debut is the most impressive, no tricks or gimmicks, solid opening streaming and sales with no mass bundling that I'm aware of, and even picking up some decent airplay with no radio deal. Just solid reputation and quality of music. If you have to buy someone's reputation, they probably ain't got much of one! Bad Guy went #1 thanks to some bundles. Not to mention it had a Bieber remix released weeks before that didn't work. If not it would have been blocked by Nas Maraj and Señorita That doesn't mean Bad Guy is not a smash hit

ITAT is certified 3xP with the RIAA. www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/phil-collins-in-air-tonight-sales-1042139/?fbclid=IwAR17jntdyjjOerBkAeBj1ufdKyMQNsSANvXYHhDlCdfFHbJahSKKY04672UPhil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’ Sees a Sales Comeback After Viral VideoBy ETHAN MILLMAN Phil Collins “In the Air Tonight” saw a noticeable sales bump over the weekend thanks to a viral video from Twins React, where 22-year-olds Tim and Fred Williams filmed their reaction to hearing the song for the first time. In the video, Tim and Fred start off acutely tuned in to the song’s slow rhythmic beginning and lose it by the iconic drum kick in the latter half, as so many have done upon first hearing Collins’ 1981 hit. The video apparently prompted viewers to do the same: On Friday and Saturday, “In the Air Tonight” saw an increase in sales of over 1,100 percent compared to the previous two days. The song saw over 4,600 digital sales in those two days, compared to a few hundred the weekend prior, according to data from Alpha Data. Sales from Friday and Saturday exceed nearly the rest of the month prior combined. Somewhat surprisingly given the sales boost though, streams on the song seem unaffected by the viral video so far, hovering between 200,000 and about 240,000 streams each day since mid-July. The multi-platinum single from Collins’ debut solo album Face Value has proven timeless through several prominent features since its release, with the Twins React video being just the latest. It was featured in Miami Vice in 1984, and in 2008 comedy The Hangover in a scene in which Mike Tyson punches Zach Galifianakis’ character in the face as the beat drops for the song’s drum solo. It’s been featured in video games, too, like in the popular NBA 2K basketball franchise in 2014 and in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in 2007.

$1900???? Barbz are goddamn insane, you could buy a freaking car with that money! In my country, $1900 is enough to pay for tuition, let alone to support a mediocre female rapper

You might be able to put a good down payment on a house in Detroit with that kind of money.

Converted that $1900 in our local currency, OH MY GOD. And I assume that's all on a credit card? Hopefully, that's not really true and he was just tweeting it for clout lol

Ashanti’s Foolish was replaced by Nelly’s Hot in Herre; they began dating two years after.

One Direction becomes the first boyband to have multiple members topping Hot 100. (2nd boyband if you count The Beatles as a boyband) The Beatles are not a boyband.

I literally just bought a 2006 Dodge Charger (in great condition) for $1200. I don't how people can be this irresponsible with money. off topic but what a deal?? wth It’s kinda in topic because this is how the billboard charts are manipulated sadly 😔. This money coulda been used for other essential life needs especially in the times we live in but noo you spent $1900 on someone who to them wouldn’t even acknowledge it, and it is basically like a penny in their mind. These stans just waste money like it’s just paper and i would kill to have $1900 and would save that like a baby

I don't care what Wikipedia says, they are not and never were a boyband. The Beatles played their own instruments and wrote their own hits; not characteristics of most boybands. Besides, the term "boyband" didn't even exist in their era. Are the Rolling Stones a boyband too?

If you include ex-group members, Paul McCartney and his song "My Love" was replaced at #1 by George Harrison and his song "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" on June 30, 1973.

I love that some of these stans would laugh at people spending that kind of money on mobile games, gambling, OnlyFans, or Twitch then they would spend 2k on their favorite celebrity. The things we do for love.

I wonder if there have ever been any songs/duets by exes that topped the charts. By exes, I don't mean couples who made songs together but broke up afterwards, I mean people who broke up but still made music together that went to number one. The only one that springs to mind is Sonny and Cher but I could be wrong on that, I don't know if they still topped the charts after they divorced.

Sonny and Cher only had one number one hit - "I Got You Babe" - and it was in 1965, well before they split. Cher, of course, hit number one after they split, but Sonny never charted again after their divorce.

^Wikipedia differs from you: The Beatles played their own instruments and wrote their own hits; not characteristics of most boybands. The term "boy band" is honestly too vague. Their early material could've basically been boy band songs in terms of lyrics and themes. There are plenty of K-pop and J-pop boy bands that play instruments. There's also 5 Seconds of Summer that have been labeled a boy band, despite playing instruments. Also, a lot of them do write their own songs. One Direction actually did often have a hand in writing their material.

I believe one of the main indicators for boy bands is that they do not tend to have a lead vocalist, effectively eliminating both The Rolling Stones and 5 Seconds of Summer from consideration. The genre of music is usually supposed to be pop. The Beatles have always been credited as the og boy band—they did it before it was a "thing". There are many parallels between the Beatlemania in the 60's and the One Direction craze in the 2010's.

^It appears that it was first officially used for the New Kids on the Block. The way I see it, it was a way to market such acts. It was then used in retrospect for previous acts that had similar characteristics.

Yeah, the Beach Boys or Bay City Rollers weren't really boy bands either. The term really is not synonymous with rock & roll, or r&b. Even Boyz II Men isn't. New Edition… possibly, but New Kids really started the expression.

Personally, I associate boybands as those pop groups primarily catered to teens
