Personally, I associate boybands as those pop groups primarily catered to teens Sounds like the Beatles and Stones to me Β―\_(γ)_/Β―

The Barbz LOSE once again, and it'll fall -80 next week! This is what you deserve when you support someone who is married to and having a baby with a convicted rapist-murderer.

When did a singer dethrone his/her ex before?

I wonder if there have ever been any songs/duets by exes that topped the charts. By exes, I don't mean couples who made songs together but broke up afterwards, I mean people who broke up but still made music together that went to number one. The only one that springs to mind is Sonny and Cher but I could be wrong on that, I don't know if they still topped the charts after they divorced. Dreams by Fleetwood Mac sort of fits. The McVieβs had divorced at that point and Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were pretty much over as well.

Did Mr. $1900 show receipts? If not, what a clever and thirsty way to get attention.
If I were going to do something like that, I'd make it a challenge with the artist. I'll buy $xxx, if you donate double that to x charity. Win-Win.
Charts have always been manipulated and for a long time RIAA was also 'tricked' into certifications. Albums would 'ship platinum' only to have most of those copies returned to label, but the certification stood. I think the KISS solo albums were the most egregious example. Casablanca label were notorious for shady sales/B200 chart practices. The same was RSO was with H100. Those late-70s...
If it was allowed to chart would No Doubt's "Don't Speak" fit the former couple hitting #1? The album's sales pretty much confirm it topped H100 combined with that massive airply.
So will Cardigan have a solid hold or an imaginary one like ROM? I thought ROM was actually going to stick around, but radio dropped it hard and fast.

When did a singer dethrone his/her ex before? The last time it happened was when JLo's All I Have replaced P Diddy (featured on B2K's Bump Bump Bump) in 2003

not Before You Go creeping up like Someone You Loved did π« watch this song randomly go number 1 like the latter did. But this song is 27 weeks old on the chart so i doubt it

As of this week 12 songs have reached #1 this year (14 overall). With WAP being the 13th (15th) next week, could this year reach or surpass the 20th mark?
There's still 1/3 of the year left.

Holy crap, thatβs a big jump for βBang!β. It has ok radio & average sales, what else is driving it up so high? Sales seem to be going up for it. Still doing horribly in streaming, but it is up to #557 on Apple. Not like that's good or anything, but I do believe that's up a bit for it. It's up a bit on Amazon too to #42. I guess the lower section of the chart is just that close together and maybe some album bombs falling off helped inflate the jump a bit.

New peak for "Break My Heart" and continued success for "Don't Start Now" yet someone on the Grammy thread had the nerve to call this album a failure in the US...

7-1 is a very unusual jump.
I am pleasantly surprised to see Harry Styles doing so well. His debut was a tip-toe in the water, but βFine Lineβ has proven to have remarkable staying power. I would said βgood luck getting in the top 40, Harryβ, but hey, this is good music...
