I don't quite know what it is about "Circles", but this was always a bottom contender for me as I've never cared much for the vocal arrangement. I wanted to go with something other than "I Got the Boy" and I knew going into this that this song would like be well received by some and not so much by others.

I must say, Jana Kramer had been a bit hit-or-miss with her singles for me. I liked "Why You Wanna" well enough and LOVED "I Got the Boy," and after a couple weeks actually burned out on "Untouchable." I don't like one bit what she and her husband did over the summer...you know what I'm talking about. It gives me pause to listen to anything else by her. However, that incident in no way clouded my judgment of "Circles," it just didn't do anything at all for me sadly.
This has been going exceptionally well for me so far, but I know it's gonna get uglier any minute so I'm just bracing myself for that.

Jamie Lynn Spears ”Sleepover“ 'Cause I like that taking me out, treating me like a lady While I'm figuring out do I wanna be your baby? Give me that front porch goodnight kiss Give me that look in your eyes like this
Maggie Rose ”Preacher’s Daughter“ And the sun came up like the day before And her sheets hadn't been turned down And the boy turned up downstream on the rocks Two miles outside of town She was leavin' church in a white sundress Last time anybody saw her Oh, what's become of the preacher's daughter
Clare Dunn ”My Love“ My love is a fire you can't water it down It burns like a bourbon when you come around My heart is wide open, I'm pourin' it out A tidal wave rollin' no turnin' back now
the JaneDear Girls ”Good Girls Gone Bad“ Lord forgive them, they know not what they do They're climbing up the social ladder just to get to you They're stone-throwing, bible-toting debutantes from hell They need a redemption to save them from themselves They don't mean to be so mean Bless their hearts, it's in them genes They raise a glass to John 3:16
Jana Kramer ”I Got the Boy“ I got the first kiss and she'll get the last She's got the future and I got the past I got the class ring, she got the diamond and wedding band I got the boy and she got the man

And just like that we've now cleared the bottom ten. Thanks to everyone for following along thus far and I'll be back later this evening to reveal the next set!

I know this is auto-tuned to death, but it was so catchy and addictive. That is the reason why this ended up in my bottom 5. I must say I much prefer the acoustic version to this song over the studio one and I likely would've ranked this one higher had they softened down the production around the vocal arrangement.

Sad to see Tanya and Faith out so early, especially "Mustang Ridge" at #55. It really is a great song.

2. What songs will make up the top 5? Maybe "Circles" too? Not sure what to expect!!! Well you got the 'not sure what to expect' part of that right.

Catching up with the results.
I am very fine with the first ones out, there was not one song that I was attached to, and two of them were on my bottom 5.
However, those two last cuts were my two highest rankings so far.
With "Pretender", I was expecting it. I know they wouldn't make it far and I'm not surprised about a early exit. I even get why people are hesitant about the song and about them.
"Circles", however, I'm very surprised about that. I'd never imagine it would have that much bottom 5/last places. I love that album and this song is very solid to me. Lost my first top10 now, hope it doesn't open the door to lose more soon haha.

I'll admit that many of these were discoveries for me. Glad you encouraged me to participate, tim. The JaneDear Girls tune is a bop. Also love the details that you're including with each reveal.

I'll be coming back around here in a bit to begin the next set of reveals, but before I do here's what you can expect to see: - The first song to exit in this set is also the most polarizing of the rankdown and is one that a majority of you predicted would leave in the bottom 5
- Our fourth least polarizing song will exit along with the 7th and 9th most polarizing songs
- Seven top ten rankings will be departing as well as five top 5 rankings
- A second participant will see their second top ranked song leave
- We'll see OUR VERY FIRST NUMBER ONE LOSS of the rankdown!

Stats for #45:
The first song to exit likely exceeded everyone’s expectations as the majority were in a consensus that this would leave in the bottom 5. Alas, not only did it escape such a fate but it ended up surviving the bottom 10 as well. Thanks in part to a handful of support from those who put this in their top 20, this actually was never even a bottom ten contender. It did have it’s share of detractor, however, as three participants put this dead last while three others put this in their bottom 5. Unfortunately for one participant, though, they become the next casualty to see their second top ranked song depart.

"Four Years of Chances" has always bene one of my favorite tracks from Margo's debut album and although not released as a single has become a staple of her live shows. Speaking of which, having seen Margo live a couple of times before that is where her music really comes to life. Her first two albums always sounded a bit more subdued compared to her live shows and I think with Sturgill as producer for her latest album, That's How Rumors Get Started, helped to bring out more of that sound.

Stats for #44:
The next song to exit started off quite strong as it picked up a lot of early support including two top ten rankings. As the first of four bottom five rankings came in, however, it dipped back outside of the top 30 before momentarily sneaking back into the top 25. That wouldn't last, though, as it slowly backpedaled before finally having to settle out of the top 40 at the very last moment.

I didn't know this song and I really enjoyed it, actually it was one of the discoveries that I ranked higher. Interesting to see how polarizing this song is.
Edit: This is about "Four Years of Chances", I didn't like “Things That I Lean On” that much as you can see by my ranking.

This is a painful loss for myself and the three others who put this in their top 10. I still revisit this song quite often and I probably would've put this somewhere close to my top 5 in her artist rankdown had it been included.

Oh, prior to this reveal I forgot to mention we actually have our first tie of the rankdown! Both #43 and #44 were tied in points, so it came down to which one was least polarizing. Despite its top ten support, "Things That I Lean On" came out as the ninth most polarizing song as it also picked up four bottom 5 rankings. The song that won the tiebreaker was the 23rd least polarizing and also only received two bottom 5s.

Stats for #43:
Our tie-breaking song comes in as the 23rd least polarizing song. It was an early top ten contender as it picked up a top 5 ranking from yours truly along with an additional ten 10 ranking. Upon its first of two bottom five rankings, however, it began to settle further back before hovering in and around the top 40.

Most of you that are familiar with me on Pulse know that I am a big fan of Lori's and that is very much reflective in my ranking for "Giving Up on Your Hometown". I'm not quite sure when it was that I fell in love with her music, but after seeing her live for the first time a few years back I became a fan forever. As much as I love The Bird and the Rifle, I might go so far as to say that her latest album The Balladeer is her best work yet and is also one of the best albums of 2020. I had tickets to see her at a local venue in Austin back in May as she was set to debut the songs from this record, but of course everything got cancelled including this one.

Stats for #42:
The second to last song in this set to leave unfortunately got weighted down by six bottom five rankings of which two were dead last (and quite questionable rankings I might add). This was able to pick up a trip of top 20 rankings and a lone top 15. It gives me no pleasure in revealing that of the two top 5s this song received one of those is also someone's top ranking song :'(

So far, so good aside from Aubrie and Margo getting shafted so soon; I love the bluesy elements of their music which I figured would be polarizing here but at least their songs are dynamic compared to some of the other songs left here.

I can't say I remember ever hearing "That's What Angels Do" before, but I know that some of you were already familiar with the song as Lila McCann had previously recorded in back in 2008. The more I listened to this song the more I fell in love with it, so I was a bit surprised by some of the lower-end rankings it received especially from those down in the bottom five. My condolences to taylor who becomes are first participant to lose their top ranking song. And for anyone that is curious, here is Lila's version:

Our final song to exit this evening was a steady top 40 contender for its run. I must say I was quite surprised with well this song performed as I'd wager that it was probably a discovery for most of you. While this didn't receive any top ten rankings, it did pick up four top 20s as well as a handful of top 30 support. This comes in as the fourth least polarizing song.
