The remix is cute. It doesn't feel cut and paste which is nice, but I'm not sure how much I'll revisit it.

Ariana's contribution to this is a lot more substantial than what she did on Lizzo's track. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet compared to the original though.

I was bored of the original so this will be a great new-old addition to my playlist. Really pleasant hearing Ariana comfortable in her lower register.

This remix is actually really great. I love how Ariana sounds on this and her harmonies are amazing. The original burned on me recently but I'll definitely be adding this remix to my favorites.
Also, this sorta reminds me of the "In Your Eyes" remix with Doja Cat as in the remix was structured the same way as this remix.

Ari elevated an already great song. Those whistles man gave me goosebumps. Also loved her background vocals and the fact that she’s all over the song.

After the second listen... I like it and beginning to love it! Love that Ari is using both whistle notes and her lower register! She gives the song some sonic variety that the original was sorely lacking.
Given the below tweet, I think this remix is definitely enough to push this to #1 on the Hot 100.

Her lower register was great on it, but I’m not the biggest fan of the song. Probably won’t hear it again.

Ariana's lower register is outstanding on this, it definitely elevated the original, which means this is like a 100/100

Well I’ll be in the minority. I feel like Ariana sounds like she’s drowning in a bathtub. I don’t like what ever they did to make her voice sound like that. But I don’t necessarily hate this remix. So there’s room to grow.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!! Ariana’s vocals on Met Him Last Night were incredible but compared to this they suck. I really liked the original anyway but it definitely was a bit repetitive, especially when The Weeknd didn’t really experiment with his voice much. However, Ariana takes this to a whole new level. I am in love with the way she sings in the second verse. I love how this feels like a collaboration rather than her being added a small bit like Good As Hell, or even Met Him Last Night in a way. And.... THE LAST CHORUS!!! I was not ready for that. And I’m still not done processing it. Incredible

I definitely didn't check for this song until now and all I can say is WOW! When these two get together, it's always magic! Ari sounds so mature during her verse, so good, great vibe overall, purchased and playlisted!

I just realised that they cut The Weeknd’s first “I don’t know why I run away” so he only has one. I think that was really smart. For the original song, that part always bugged me a bit as it dragged out the song for no real benefit
My only complaint about the remix is that I would love to have heard some Ariana’s vocals vocoder in the last chorus, but that’s a very minor complaint

I honestly had low expectations for the remix but it very much exceeded my expectations! Idk if I'll return to it a ton but it didn't seem like the stick-someone-in type of remix.

Everybody keeps talking about these obvious shenanigans but I thought payola was illegal? So how is this still happening on pop radio in the year 2021? Can anyone provide an example of how this can be legally done? Does the head marketer of the radio department on a label meet up for lunch with an Iheart radio representative on a Monday afternoon and then they decide collaboratively to send a song to #1 by the end of the week? I’ve always wondered how this works. Of course it’s payola. I mean how much more obvious can you be? I think it’s strange the number of “veteran” members on here think it doesn’t exist or it rarely happens, lol. From radio, doesn't happen like you all think. It's usually more in the form of free concert tickets to give away, etc. Of course you're going to spin an artist that you can tie to a giveaway. Direct payment to individuals that are programming is HIGHLY illegal. You all just get butt hurt when you're stanning for an artist and the song isn't actually all that good. Also, in the recent discussion. It's hard to get to #1 right now because CHR/Pop is in what we call a "doldrum" or a "down period." The music isn't very diverse and isn't very good. It's mostly all mid-tempo singer/rap collabs or autotune messes. When that happens radio sets itself in a slow turnover pattern.

I hope you keep it coming. People crying “payola” is such a lazy response when the reality probably isn’t even that much more complicated. Onto the song, I still prefer the original. Ariana’s verse isn’t bad, but I think had the song existed as a collab between the two from the beginning, it would have ended up sounding more developed and whole.

Can you (or someone else) give a specific example of a time prior to now where this was the case? I wouldn’t know because I’ve only been following these radio charts since fairly recently.

Yep, and it’s frustrating because we all know they can do much better and have better chemistry when they do a song together. It’s like they chose some Ariana voice memos and plastered them onto the track.

Cute mix. I'll swap the original with it on my main playlist because I'm tired of the original.
Wouldn't mind this going #1. But do give us a new track together soon (off the table sucked :( ).

Yeah this is no Love Me Harder. Love the song, but not sure I’ll come back to this, although I do think her vocals are decent (when aren’t they). These “remixes” never work for me.

This remix is all about a one week chart boost and nothing else. The original song is impeccable and it's already a big hit (Pop #1 and Hot 100 Top 5 in its own right). If it weren't already SOOOO easy to give this a little boost to #1 on the Hot 100, the remix wouldn't even exist. Still, a deserved 6th #1 for The Weeknd (if it happens) and a cheap one for Ariana.
ETA: That's not Ariana shade, but odds are she'll only get chart credit on an existing smash for a few weeks at most, so I just don't see it as an authentic #1 for her (just like Nicki on "Say So" or Beyonce on "Perfect").
